Subho (or Ananya for that matter) was never going to win.
Funny thing is I could see which direction the wind had started blowing a few months into the show. Don't want to elaborate on this.. Those who observed will know how things were being designed, who was/were being pushed to limelight and why. Especially from Ramayana episode onwards..
For making a contestant popular among voters, you give them popular songs, suited to their voice, more interaction time... you do not do so by things like declaring 'you will take the trophy to 'kolkata. I think Shekhar first said it, then maybe Raj Babbar...
imagine giving such regionalistic comments to a contestant... Firstly, to one who already was one of the strongest contestants and already had a large number of followers belonging to other states, especially Maharashtra, UP, Haryana...
Secondly, when there already were 5 contestants from bengal in the top 15!
They were really trying hard to make him popular and win!
Remember what happened to Soumya Chakraborty in the Salman Ali season.. from classical songs...aaoge jab tum..phul gendwa..aalaps et al.. to being given pag ghunghroo type songs.... same pattern..he was eliminated early. Only Subha proved much more versatile and delivered each time. But you can make even a good singer underperform..all songs do not suit all singers...And for a long time he did not get songs that suited his voice, unlike the chosen few who were given tailor made songs.
Ironically According to many reports revealing the final vote count Subho had actually received the highest votes.. by quite a margin...
Not that all this really matters.. different people have different perception about good singing, we like singers we connect to...But the so many false narratives do matter..
Poor Shreya, also Kumar Sanu have had to bear the brunt without actually having any any control over the already written scripts..
But then it has always been very easy to manipulate public opinion...or voters, in any sphere... and it usually works. And it seems a particular type of politics has gradually taken over our country.
