Arunita's hold on FB is very strong. If you see the number of shares on Sony Ent. Page for her performances last night you will get an indication of how widely her songs are being spread. The others pale into insignificance in comparison.
One reason could be that FB was the only real place in SM when she was in Lil'Champs.

This can happen. A great majority of Final Day voters are music lovers who do not watch the show on TV regularly. They will vote sometimes, but most often they will follow their favourite on after show clips. But a great percentage of these viewers will vote on Final Day for their favourite.
Rohit must have had a better and more dedicated core voting base, like Pawan has. They kept him in the lead by voting at every opportunity. Sunny had many more fans pan India and they voted in the finals. It is not that Rohit got less votes that day - Sunny just got more. Final day voting is huge!

But the Finals are far away and anything can happen till that day. Pawan will remain a frontrunner. He is the one to beat.

Channel just can't ignore her amazing fanbase which has been built naturally based on music only, not for any story of poverty, struggle or son of nature!!! Somehow people could connect with her through music very easily. She has something in her personality and singing which are liked by a large group.
I hope Arunita becomes successful as a playback singer. Winning indian idol will not ensure that, even it is not necessary.

Sometimes the channel fails. In both Super Dancer last year and Superstar Singer they had other choices as top spot. But public tide was against them. They did adjust in the later stages but still held on to their favourites till the last moment. The same thing is happening here. The channel cannot ignore the public as it affects revenues. But the script is adjusted not rewritten. So expect SMP/Pawan to keep getting attention/favours but expect more positive exposure for Arunita.
I feel that the sort of name she has made for herself will earn her a lot of shows abroad once the world comes back to normal. This will sustain her during the years she waits for a break. Singing useless playback filler songs will not get her anywhere. Someone will have to give her a top song one day. In any case I don't think she will hit the Mumbai scene before she is 21. Locally, maybe. Think she already does Bengali TV serial songs regularly.
