The Raging Storm Part 2
Imlie just couldn’t believe the scene in front of her. Surya pulled the trigger himself and the bullet hit him just a little above his heart is. Surya still had the smirk on his face while he was falling down. Imlie just did not know what happened. She leapt up to catch Surya from falling down and cradled him safely in her arms.
Imlie - Aye Rowdy Reddy. What did you do ? Why did you pull the trigger. Oh god so much blood is flowing and you have a bullet wound to your chest.
Imlie started panicking now. How to save him, true she was angry on him but no she couldn’t intentionally cause someone to die. Imlie started searching for something to call up for help. Imlie grabbed Surya’s phone and luckily for her, the phone started ringing. It was Tripathi on the line.
Imlie - Hello Tripathiji, Can you please come to the dhaba on the highway near the outskirts of the village. Suryaji has been shot. Please come quick.
Tripati - Kya Surya sir got shot. I am right away going to call an ambulance and I will also reach there.
Surya has started to lose consciousness. Even when he was losing consciousness he was amused by the way Imlie was fidgeting for him - this girl was really something. And now he felt at peace, the cross he has been carrying since long has finally being put down and he will now happily leave this place. Maybe he will meet his twin in heavens and they will finally have the bickering childhood they never got to spend when they were growing up.
Imlie was shell shocked to see the blood flowing out. The scene again took her back to the time when she saw her babu’s dead body. She did not know how long she sat there with Surya in her lap and her arms cradling him. Was it minutes ago they were raging at each other or was it hours ago. She lost all sense of time with the way Surya pulled the trigger on himself. She never expected him to do so and now she was numb.
Imlie felt people around her hustling and someone pulled Surya out of her hold. She did not know what was happening. She was staring blankly in front of her - the place where they both were fighting with each other. Tripathi was there with the police team and the ambulance and the paramedics quickly jumped in to arrest the blood flow and start the immediate treatment.
Tripathi saw Imlie sitting there shattered.
Tripathi (thinking to himself) - What has happened here. Why is Surya sir shot. And why is Imlie madam looking like this.
Tripathi approached Imlie timidly - Madam chaliye, Sir ko hospital le jaa rahe hain. Let’s go in the ambulance.
Tripathi took Imlie and sat with her in the ambulance. He felt sad for the poor girl. She does not deserve this the second time around. He always respected Surya Sir and now he has started to have a bond with Surya and his wife Imlie. He felt he need to give some support to the distraught girl sitting in front of him.
Tripathi :- Madam don’t worry. Sir ko kuch nahin hoga. That coward Guru bhai also tried so much to kill Sir but he never succeeded. Abhi kuch nahin hoga. Sir will recover fully.
Tripathi was always a talker. He felt talking bonded people and he was an emotional person and once he started, it was hard for him to stop. Imlie was not in a state to stop him so he kept on going and talking about random things.
Tripathi thinking Imlie needs more assurance starts telling about Surya ke exploits in police force. He starts telling how Surya has taken on the dangerous criminals and that is why he was a marked target. And when he was talking he unintentionally touched the subject of Surya being the target of Guru bhai.
Tripathi :- Madam uss din Agastya babu was not the target of Guru bhai. Guru bhai wanted to kill Surya sir as Surya sir had put him in jail. Guru bhai knew that Surya Sir was taking charge of Purwaiya police station that day and Guru bhai had given orders to his hit men to eliminate Surya Sir before he reached the village. The gun men were waiting for Surya sir on that road and had a photo of him and when they saw Agastya babu coming in the car they tried to shoot at him. Agastya babu turned the car at the correct moment but unfortunately the brakes were not working and because of that he fell off the cliff.
There the truth finally was out. Imlie was a statue all this time but when she heard the truth she for the first time blinked her eyes and looked towards Tripathi.
Imlie(thinking) - Was this the truth. Her babu was killed due to mistaken identity. It was just a coincidence that they were returning back to the village at the same time the gun men were waiting for Surya to come. Had they not stopped at the mandir for marriage maybe they would have been back at home before the gun men lay in wait to kill. And maybe Navya kaki’s man would not have had a chance of cutting the brakes for the car.
Imlie - Yeh ab kya bol rahe hain Tripathiji ? So babu was killed because the gun men mistook him to be Rowdy Reddy ?
Tripathi - Haan madam. See this video, I have video of that day.
And finally Imlie had a sense of epiphany. It was just sheer coincidence that Surya was posted to Purwaiya, That Surya and Agastya were twin brothers separated at birth and neither knew the existence of other. And once Imlie accepted the truth then it all made sense to her - the hallucination she had after babu passed away. Her babu knew that Imlie will need his words of wisdom and he did give her those comforting words before he departed for the heavenly abode.
Before Imlie could think more the ambulance reached the hospital and the paramedics raced to the operation theater. They were running against time as the bullet was in the chest area. The operation went on for 2 hours and all that time Imlie was outside the theater praying for Surya’s recovery. She never intended to kill him and now after knowing the truth that it was just sheer bad luck that Agastya died, she couldn’t wish harm on Surya. She did not even have courage to call up the family members. She just prayed for her Radha Rani - hoping that she would not cheat her devotion the second time around.
Finally after 2 long hours, the doctor came out and gave the good news. They were successful in removing the bullet and Surya was saved. He was unconcisous but he was safe and expected to make full recovery.
Imlie breathed a sigh of relief. She did not have heart to go and look at Surya but she was glad that at least today another family would not be mourning the loss of their young son. She decided she needs to be away from Surya, his family and her memories. She needs to heal before she can be something useful to others.
On the spur of the moment, she took some paper from reception and wrote a parting letter to Surya and gave it to Tripathi.
Imlie :- Tripathiji Shukriya. Thanks for telling me the truth of that day. Please make sure you give this letter only to Surya sir.
Tripathi :- Madam but where are you going ?
Imlie :- Somewhere where my destiny takes me. You don’t worry about me. For the first time I feel destiny is with me.
Surya woke up groggily and was disoriented. He felt acute pain in his chest.
Surya (thinking) :- Wait what is that smell. And where am I. What exactly is happening.
Seeing Surya coming to senses, Tripathi rushed to him.
Tripathi :- Sir, calm down. You got shot and luckily the operation was successful. You need to recover now.
And then it all came back to Surya - how he was arguing with Imlie and how he couldn’t see her hurt and decided to end her pain and pulled the trigger. Wait but where is Imlie.
Surya - Tripathi, Imlie kaha hain. She is fine though right. Is she outside ?
At this moment, Tripathi couldn’t hide it any longer. It just did not feel correct.
Tripathi - Sir Madam chali gayi hain. And she asked me to give it to you.
Tripathi handed the letter that Imlie left for Surya. Surya was confused - a letter. What is that Imlie has said. He desperately opened the letter and started reading it.
Rowdy Reddy,
I am really glad that you made out safe and sound after the stupid stunt you pulled. How could you do this to yourself. Did not not even think once about Kakimaa - How is she going to survive another son’s death. You are stupid and arrogant - do you hear me. I am really thankful for Tripathiji in telling me the whole truth of babu’s death. Tripathiji told me that Guru bhai was waiting at the entrance of the village on that day to shoot you down and it was bad luck that me and babu entered the village right at that time when they were expecting you.
After knowing the truth, I am not sure what I exactly feel at this moment. I still feel sad that babu left me and I am here alone with him. I now know why you felt that you had to marry me. But trust me, I can manage myself alone and I have been doing it since a long time.
After knowing the truth, I am still coming to terms with the way babu died but yes I think I am slowly accepting that babu’s death was not because of you. However you need to understand that I am not in a position to be with you at this moment. I need to heal myself before I can be with anyone and for that reason, I am going away.
Bhagwan ki kripa se, I do have some friends who are helping me right now to get away from Purwaiya. Don’t worry - I will study hard and clear my exams and be independent. I need this time to myself and I am not sure when I will return back - if I will ever return back.
I am not sure what I should make of our marriage and our relationship. I give you the right to take a decision for yourself. If you feel that being with Anjali makes you happy then use this letter as my consent for annulment of marriage and move on with her. If I ever feel like I have healed then I will myself come in front of you and if there is any thing salvaging in our relationship at that point we can take a call.

Surya had tears in his eyes after reading the letter. Finally a burden has lifted off his heart. Imlie now knows the complete truth and no longer blames him for the death of Agastya. He can live with that. He knows that Imlie would be safe and would be able to take care of herself. She is the strongest woman he has ever met. He will wait for her to come back to him. At this point of time, he can not move ahead in life with Anjali. Life with Anjali and his dreams all felt so long ago.
In all truth, he has now started falling for his wife Imlie and he will forever remain her husband. He will wait for his wife to come back. The raging storm is over and now they need to wait for the dark night to pass by and the bright morning to arrive. He will do so. He will wait for his chirpy Imlie to be back and he knows that when she is back she will not be this gloomy person he met 3 months back. Instead she will be the Imlie with a smile that rivals the sun and with mischievous nature. He will wait for his Imlie to be back and honestly that is all he can do right now.
