The Two Coins gifted to Adi

By the end of today's episode, Adi was left holding two coins in his hand....one from Imlie - a regular one rupee coin, a bit worn out....but holding immense meaning in Imlie's life. The second from Malini - a shiny big silver coin which Malini expressed as being considered a 'shagun' or an auspicious omen.

Was the intent from the makers to now show that after Adi-Malini supposedly being thought twins who pick the same thing all the time, now Imlie-Malini are also thought twins that they both picked a coin to gift to Adi?๐Ÿ˜•

And secondly....is the intent to play up the class difference again? That supposedly both sisters think the same way in wanting to gift him the coin, but one sister is the rich one so she gifts him silver, while the other poor sister gifts him a simple coin to reflect her poor status?

I honestly didn't get the point of this scene....Malini is being painted the victim in scenarios that she isn't even involved in directly....Imlie wanted to gift a simple coin to Adi but even that had to be duplicated to show Malini also gifting him a coin?๐Ÿ˜•.....

I didn't understand the significance too.. But I do not think it is to do with one is expensive and the other is not.

I loved Adi -Imlie scene today, he was genuinely blown away by Imlie's thoughtful gift, that he forgot that Malini asked him first show it to only her at home.

@green, calm down friendo๐Ÿ˜บ, giving coins was not a coincidence, I didn't find it unrealistic that Malini also gifted coins. Parents give us gold aur silver coins in many occasions like first day in school, religious festivals, exam results ke din, grandparents tho har saal birthday mein coins deta hai. It's just considered as good omen and elders' blessing. So here makers just showed Moolie gifting coins to Aditya. Ofcourse as u said they could show both sisters think same๐Ÿ˜† and Aditya holding the coins together is to clearly indicate the class difference between Imlie and Mun.

Don't think it was a comparison. Most probably what it meant was they both want the best for him(as coins are shaguns). Imlie, given that she doesn't have much, gave babusaheb something that is very precious to her (how she got the coin back that I don't know ๐Ÿ˜†). Malini also gave the coin to Aditya as a good omen, it's just that she can afford something a little shinier.

Have to admit, wasn't too excited about Malini giving a coin to Aditya as well. ๐Ÿ˜• Maybe she could have given him something else of equal significance. Hope makers don't keep repeating these kinds of scenes.

that is a valid point and thought you have had i think that was what they were playing upon with a bit of har chamkti cheez sona nahi hoti added to it... Malini's coin was big.. shiny... sure with a good intent but the emotion behind it wasn't as strong as imlie ka chota sa worn out coin which was so close to Her and had so much emotional value.. i guess it was to signify ke imlie can give things that matter to her the most in a jiffy and in good faith .. she truly valued his success and thought that coin found a better place with adi while for malini the gift giving was more of a routine thing.. done and dusted a formality.. she didn't had much of value attached to that coin either. .. she gave to more as a token thing that everyone planned to do while imlie ke liye it menat a world... his joys meant a world to her for malini more than aditya's success or happiness it was a i deserve equal credit for it thing she wanted validation out of his success too while imlie ka aisa kuch nahi tha.. she was happy caz she was happy she didn't had any expectation of any sort..

and yes the class difference too caz they have shown us from the start ke imlie was worried ke ab woh kya de.. but uska 1 rs meant so much more then fancy shmancy things..

also chalo yeahin keh deti hoon yeh bhi main yar.. ke it was interesting to me ke how instinctively he shared the success with imlie in that moment in office.. when malini was expecting him to share it with her.. it was interesting that malini thought she deserved the credit for his success and that usne uske saath yeh sapna sanjhoya hai and uske wajah se yeh sach hua hai but thanks to kismat the credit did go to the correct person who actually had a huge hand is sahkar karna of sapna.. the way aditya went in the flow and itna kuch bol dia ke she deserved it and is the hero of his story and badle main kuch expect bhi nahi kia... i liked ke nobody had to push him to acknowledge that... and he thought of imlie as in his support system in this whole acheivement of his dream than malini.. i foudn that kinda cool.. even though it wasn;t as direct he will probably still deny it and be like malini ka he credit hai but that will be a cover up and more of a what should be happening thing then what has happened...

May be they want to convey that malini's silver coin is precious and beautiful, but you should always safely keep in safe. But imlie's coin can be used for buying chocalate๐Ÿคจ or somehow that 1 rs coin will save aditya's life while mali's will be of no use๐Ÿคจ main bhi na๐Ÿ˜‚

In my opinion and I might be completely off but the two coins represent the two women in his life. One the shining star of his past and the other, the result of the dark night. In the past, Aditya would have totally rejected Imlieโ€™s gift without a second thought and his focus would be Malini and only Malini. But this time not only did he accept it, but he is holding both of them in his hand giving them equal status.
I think that means that at this moment, both women hold the same place of importance in his life. One is love, the other is responsibility. His righteous nature will not allow him to discard responsibility for the love and his selfishness is not allowing him to discard love for responsibility. But the more important question here is which coin is he going to cherish more, which coin would become the important one, the one that he cannot live without especially if love replaces responsibility.

I will take it as progress, because one step at a time, unknowingly through her actions, Imlie is making a place for herself in his life and Aditya too is unknowingly allowing it.

I think it is not at all random or coincidental that both ladies of his life gave him coins on this special day . Come on, how could it be coincidence?? The scene was put there to make us viewers as well Aditya to ponder on it, us to think what the makers are up to and for Aditya, to once again marvel the complex web of fate being woven with the three of them, as he holds them both in each palm ( also to hammer the point that it is put there for a reason).

I think these two coins signify the difference in the values , of the two ladies in his life. The silver coin has obvious value , you see it in it's shining glory and you don't need further explanation . Just like you see Malini standing beside Aditya, his wife ,Mrs Aditya Kumar Tripathi , in front of the entire world, his family that one special person in Aditya's life, love of his life, standing tall , regal and beautiful.

But the one rupee coin has no value at first glance, it has no worldly value as such , looks worn out . But once you know the backstory behind it , the rich history ,it becomes incredibly special as a gift , it's value given by its meaning. Imlie is that coin in Aditya's life. At one glance for an outsider, she has no place in his life , no value , no name , but it's their shared history , shared fate that gives her place in his life, makes her important for him. It's deeply secret , but not a dirty one, but a special almost sacred one.

Aditya while recieving the award openly and boldly took Malini's name in his speech , giving her the 1st and maximum credit , symbolic that Malini comes first in his destiny and she's acknowledged and cherished. But Imlie who has maximum contributions towards this award ,he can't even openly take her name, not as his significant other , not as a family , not as a friend , not even an acquaintance. She's unnamed but no more acknowledged. He knows he can't validate her presence in his life in front of the world but he can't and won't deny the truth of her importance in his life even if as a destiny chosen person .

So he does the only thing he's allowed to do for her or give her - he remembers her. He became emotional while thinking of her , how she must remain unacknowledged always but in his thoughts and emotions. His family members giving Malini credit of how auspicious she is for Aditya , completely unaware of the actual one standing in front of them who deserved most credit for today and she got none and they'll never know her importance in his success.

It shows us how both are his .But one is to proudly flaunt in front of the world and another to cherish in private like a fond deeply intimate memory.

The Adi-Imlie scenes were lovely but writers insisting on duplicating Imlie's gift by showing Malini gifting him the same kind of brought down the episode for me by the end. It really wasn't needed.....Malini behaved like a child throwing a tantrum for not getting the attention she wanted and it ended up tainting an otherwise sweet/simple set of moments b/w Adi-Imlie.

Off late, the makers have transitioned Adi-Imlie from simply feeling guilty about hiding the truth from Malini to now groveling in front of Malini anytime she pouts like a child.....it's too much.

@bold: This was the main thing that bothered me too. Issue isn't that Malini couldn't have gifted him something on her own....but the writers now want to show that Malini-Imlie literally think the same way too? LOL isn't that too much? The two women are very different from each other and share different relationships with Adi....I was able to understand the guilt trip that Adi and Imlie were on vis a vis Malini cuz they are hiding the truth from her.....but what is this new strange turn of events from the makers where both Adi and Imlie now take turns groveling in front of Malini?

Malini threw a total tantrum over the award issue....she behaved like a pouty child who didn't get the attention she wanted and as a result Adi was literally shown prostrating at her feet telling her how she alone understands him etc. etc.๐Ÿ˜†.....as if that was not enough, this was followed up with Imlie becoming a Murga๐Ÿ˜• to beg Malini's forgiveness.....what the hell was that? Why demean both Imlie and Adi so much in front of Malini?

If the makers want to generate sympathy for Malini, that is better served by showing her being an unwitting victim in all this rather than going so far out on a limb to show Adi and Imlie both slavishly worshipping her and coddling all her tantrums.

Malini's tantrum basically tainted what would have been a lovely/meaningful memory b/w Adi-Imlie....now we have a shiny silver coin that Adi himself is holding at an equal place to Imlie's coin which actually had meaning.....and the episode literally ended yet again only on Adi fixating on Malini's hurt.....lol.
