From Can I Do That?' ... to I Can Do That'

Celebrity Contestant Rithvik Dhanjani visits Chandigarh to speak of his exciting new reality show on Zee TV

Rithvik Dhanjani who has floored audiences with his acting prowess in Zee TV's Pavitra Rishta, his killer dance moves and anchoring skills is all set to thrill audiences with facets of his personality that have not been brought to the fore so far. He will be seen as a celebrity contestant along with 11 other celebrities on ZEE TV's upcoming big-ticket non-fiction show I Can Do That'. The show will challenge 12 popular celebrities from various walks of life to step out of their comfort zones and perform absolutely stunning, never-seen-before, entertaining acts. Developed by Israel's Armoza Formats, I Can Do That' is already a widely success across countries like the United States, Italy, Russia, Bulgaria and will premiere in India on Zee TV on 17th October as a 5-week rollercoaster ride packed with entertainment every step of the way!

Speaking on participating in this unique format, Rithvik who is in the city of Chandigarh today said, "It is a homecoming for me as Zee TV has always been my lucky charm. People know me as a dancer, actor and anchor but now is my chance to surprise myself even before I surprise my audiences ... attempt things I've never imagined I could possibly do. It is going to be a tough competition and my first task itself is something that no other celebrity has ever attempted before on Indian television. I will be seen hung mid-air, performing dare-devil stunts on an aerial trapeze swing. This is the most dangerous challenge that I have ever undertaken in my life. I have no idea what are the challenges that are going to be thrown at me as we go along, but I am totally excited! The idea is to do something new in every round."

The show will be hosted by the dynamic, multi-faceted actor-director Farhan Akhtar, who will be a friend, confidant and motivator to the celebrities. Having donned every hat - that of a writer, director, actor, producer and reality show host, he embodies the spirit of I Can Do That'. The 11 other celebrities who have accepted the challenge along with Rithvik and said I Can Do That' are - Dino Morea, Gauahar Khan, Gurmeet Choudhary, Mandira Bedi, , Shibani Dandekar, Meiyang Chang, Madhurima Tuli, VJs Bani and Andy, Chef Ranvir Brar andBharti Singh.

The celebrities will be challenged every week to outdo each other in a wide range of tasks ranging from intricate dance choreography to aerial trapeze, from stilt-walking to magic and illusion ... from flair bartending to daredevil stunts and much more. Unique Talent teams from across the length and breadth of the country have been specially flown in to demonstrate the challenges that lie ahead for the celebrities and prepare them for the tasks through intensive workshops. So will the celebrities be able to stand up to the challenge with a never-say-die spirit and say "I can do that"?

His Can-do attitude

From acting to dancing and hosting shows, Rithvik Dhanjani packs a punch. And, now he is all set to step out of his comfort zone, and show his can-do attitude' on Zee TV's upcoming show I Can Do That, an Indian adaptation of international TV show of the same name that is already popular in countries like the US, Italy, Israel, Russia and Bulgaria.

In Chandigarh on Tuesday to talk about the show that will go on air from October 17, Rithvik says, "Unlike many stunt-based non-fiction shows, I Can Do That is a completely different format...It is a skilled based show that calls for professional training for the acts to be performed on stage."

Elaborating further, he states, "From magical acts to acrobats and stunts, 12 celebrities from across different fields will be seen doing tasks that they have never done before. The elimination will on the basis of voting. Interestingly, only the studio audience will vote and decide which act gets eliminated."

Though high on risk of injuries, Rithvik is excited to be a part of the show. "When I was approached for I Can Do That, I immediately gave a nod for it, because one doesn't always get opportunities to challenge limits and fight fears... I am looking forward to have a great time on the show."

Hopeful to emerge a winner, he admits to strong competition on the show. "Madhurima Tuli is a strong contender. Even Bani and Gauahar Khan are quite good." The other celebrities participating in the show are Dino Morea, Gurmeet Choudhary, Mandira Bedi, Andy, Shibani Dandekar, Meiyang Chang, Ranveer Brar, and Bharti Singh.

Other than I Can Do That, Rithvik shares that he is soon be a part of another show on Zee TV. He doesn't reveal any further, but adds that he is waiting for the right story before foraying back in the fictional space on television. "If given an opportunity, I would love to play Sherlock Holmes," he says.

Probe him if acting is what he always wanted to do, and actor who has won viewers' heart with shows like Pyaar Kii Ek Kahaani, Pavitra Rishta, Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, and Nach Baliye, says, "I just wanted to be an entertainer."

Having cemented his place on the small screen, Rithvik is looking forward to etch a space for himself on the big screen soon. And yes, he believes in going by the script and not the role. "If the script is good, even a small role can be a memorable one," he says signing off.
