I agree, it depends on the person whether they want to stay in joint family or not.. I love being in joint family! yes it does create confusions but on the brighter side.. it is really fun!

Well they dont always have to create problems!
Sometimes its fun..like you have so many people in the house who you can talk to..!
Eg: If you ur 17..n ur younger brother is 8 years old ..you cant talk to him about some stuff..!..but then if you have a cousin living at home huz about the same age as u..then you can talk to him freely about whatever it is..you can talk otherwise to but then this way its much easier..!
but sometimes there will be ego clashes..but if you know how to deal with them..u'll surely have fun in a joint family!
Mallika is just behind his property..n after finding out that his dad is such a kanjoos..lol..she's not intrested in marrying him!

I think it really depends on individual whether they wud like to stay in joint family or nuclear...there r advantage nd disadvantage for both.... Personally I would like to live in a joint family...there will be problems at times nd u wud have to get adjusted but iif u can manage to get adjusted u will have lots of fun in joint family..

btw very nice topics..many diff. opinions...

Joint families keep you from becoming depressed. It is so much easier running a house and doing house work when you have someone or someones to help you and talk with you while you work. I would love a joint family, in my house it is just me, my mom, and my sister, and we all have such busy and different schedules, with school and work and church and all that we rarely (and I mean super rarely) ever sit down and eat together.

I guess it all depends on the family and situations
With my personal experience living in joint families has been a disaster. I was born and raised in one and as far back as I can remember there have been endless problems and it's not just my family even my friends and other distant cousins have gone through the same. My dad side lives in a huge house yet it is divided in many parts and of course anyone hardly talks to eachother. My mom side separated a long time ago and are happy with the division. They all meet don't get me wrong, but they are not in everyones business all day long and personally I like that a lot!
