Watching "Sleeping with the Enemy," I was thoroughly engrossed in its gripping story and exceptional performances. It's not just a typical thriller; it's a blend of psychological tension and drama that touches on the reality of domestic abuse and the quest for freedom. Julia Roberts delivered a stunning performance as Laura, who seeks to escape a terrifying and controlling marriage. She effectively conveyed both the fear and hope of her character, making me feel every moment of her struggle and journey towards liberation.

One of the aspects I appreciated most about the film is how the tension was built up gradually, and how the director managed to make us feel anxious and on edge with every step Laura took. The use of music was also excellent, adding another layer of mystery and constant danger surrounding the main character.

Sleeping with the Enemy (1991) The film initially received a rating of NC-17 when submitted to the MPAA. An NC-17 rating can be severely detrimental to a film, as it both limits advertisement in the US and the amount of theaters that will show it. To avoid this and ensure the film made a profit, the movie was cut down to an R rating. This was accomplished by cutting several seconds of the first sex scene between Martin and Laura. The full version of this scene can be found in the International Version, which is the version that was shown in the UK, as well as other parts of Europe.
