TOI: Smita Singh catches a few winks!

Actor Smita Singh seems to be rather sleep-deprived these days, what with the shoot schedules of her show Hitler Didioften running into the wee hours of the morning and the sleep,that she doesn't seem to be getting in the peaceful confines of her bedroom, the Actorseems to be getting on the sets between shots.

It, then came as a delightful surprise to Smita, recently, when she found out that her first scene in the morning was one that required her to be seen sleeping. As soon as she heard that, an overjoyed Smita said, "I will take a 100 retakes for this shot and spend all day in bed!"

Having said that, she plonked herself on the bed she was supposed to be seen sleeping in and fell asleep within minutes. She became quite the butt of all jokes on the set when she began snoring. When the director shook her up to brief her, she barely opened an eye and mumbled something incoherent.

It was at this point that the smart director decided to shoot the scene, as planned, but with Smita blissfully unaware of what was happening around her. It was only when the scene was shot from all possible angles and the unit was to take a break for lunch that her co-actors decided to take some extreme measures to wake up their slumbering co-star. Sumit Vats, who plays the male lead of the show, splashed a glass of water on her. Poor Smita, much to her embarrassment, woke up with a start and found herself amidst a whole group of guffawing unit members!

Smita said, "I have been feeling so sleepy lately because I've been barely managing to sleep for 5 hours or so daily. That day, when we were shooting a scene where I was required to sleep, I didn't even realize when I fell asleep on the bed. The director shot it completely naturally while I was still in deep slumber. But I want to kill Sumit for having woken me up with a splash of water. He will get it from me!"
