Mahen is such a jerk! Once again without knowing the facts he humiliated Pratibha in front of the whole family. I hope Pratibha sticks to her words and her warning that she won't tolerate this from him in future. Curious to see how Pratibha handles this.

Haven't watched today's epi yet but am all agog to see what happened. Hope Pratibha stands her ground whatever it is.

Totally agree. Mahen's character is very confusing. On one hand he supports Pratibha when she least expects it - be it going to the reunion, or taking her side when Pihu took Sunidhi instead of Pratibha for the PTM. So I can't say he's completely oblivious or a TOTAL jerk - coz he has backed her up a few times - enough to establish that he's not an idiot and does have a sense of justice or fairness. His sense of fairness was also shown when he treated Namrata well - yes she's the "evil" chachi's daughter but she has nothing to do with the conflict between the elders therefore shouldn't have to pay for it. That was good.

On the other hand Mahen is also very quick to jump to conclusions and humiliate Pratibha at the drop of a hat.

My take is Mahen is so used to Pratibha being a doormat, people pleaser, peace maker etc that he's used to her going above and beyond to keep things in order for him so that his life - be it at home or work - can run smoothly. However if anything poses a threat to that equilibrium or is a threat to the status quo he lashes out.

Going off on Pratibha coz of the awkwardness at the reunion or invites being burned - all of those are examples of the status quo being thrown off. Pratibha at the reunion amongst old friends would spark an interest in hobbies she's given up - that would take away from her being the peacemaker/homemaker she's always been. Likewise burning of the invites - that would have resulted in his humiliation.

When he backed her up in getting Sunidhi to share the chores - that was in his best interest. Sunidhi and Pratibha take care of the house - they share the chores, his life can continue on smoothly - that doesn't really take anything away from the status quo.

So basically he's super selfish. He only backs her up when it doesn't disrupt anything for him or can make his life easier.

I agree with you to a certain extent but after observing Yoyo mata's (Pratibha) personality I think she deserves all she gets.

Sunidhi has screwed her left right and center (Mahen's rotis, Namrata's wedding, Juiced sarees etc) and despite catching her with red handed, our mata devi decides to cover it up. It was idiotic to save her from the sarees fiasco and letting Anmol take the blame. As if Sunidhi will melt and do Pratibha's aarti.

After complaining to her mommy about how Mahen thinks she is only good to be a housewife cum glorified maid that cannot do anything else constructive, gives her kasam to devarji who wanted to give her credit in Mahen's eyes for getting Aditya Narayan.

This woman does not defend herself when she is trapped by Sunidhi or MIL and wants to hide anything good she does for the family from Mahen. No wonder Mahen thinks his wife is useless.

Assuming it didn't end too bad as the precap has them all happy at the event.

And skar1964, agree with you on Mahen's characterization but also believe he is just thrown off by the recent turn of events and is feeling guilty at having suppressed his wife's talents. He has referred to how she was before marriage and has alluded before to the fact that he would like her to exert her independence. Seeing Pratibha at the reunion has made him realize beit unwillingly what she has given up for him and his family, and it is the guilt that is making him lash out, I feel.

LOL! Of course he is a jerk! And that is why wife has become submissive. But at the same time, if you are going to allow one to be a jerk, one would only thrive in that aspect. P needs to stand up with a firm foot.

He is just a lost soul that meandered away from the straight path. One song and he is back on track :)
