Take up cycling. It's the best way to lose weight and achieve a toned figure. If gym seems daunting, then cycling is the way to go.

However, fasting (intermittent and otherwise) is very harmful to health. I would not suggest starving yourself to cut down food either. Start with reducing portion sizes. Then move to making healthier choices, like introducing leafy greens, salads, and nuts into your food. Replace condiments, like switch to pink salt instead of regular salt, ditch sugar for jaggery, switch to olive oil from regular groundnut, coconut or any other oil.

I would never take up dieting, or fasting ever. I eat everything I want in balance. And yet, I'm in a good shape because I focus alot on outdoor activities. Cycling, weight training, football thrice a week, yoga anything that makes my heart race.

Finally, alot of life and health comes down to self discipline and consistency. Never rely on motivation; it's fickle. Comes and goes. Be consistent with reps, and you'll see the result. Bottomline is never try to starve or cut down food intake drastically to a point that you end up feeling hungry throughout the day. It has adverse effects on overall health later down the road.

Dieting is the worst way to lose weight. Plus I'm a big foodie so I refuse to diet. I've recently been on a weight loss spree and I spoke to my doctor about the best way to do it.

He said instead of dieting, change your eating habits slowly. First he had me move carbs to the morning or max lunch only. Then he said to reduce the portions I'm eating. He said don't cut out snacking completely. Instead reduce it and then slowly change it. If you're into junk food, then cut back on the portion size. Then slowly change it to healthier options. For example, recently I started eating baked chips and damn they're just as good as the fried versions. So I'm moving off fried to baked. Along with that I'm adding new types of salads to my diet. I make a really good kale salad and chickpea salad. Not that boring lettuce or all greens salad. Salads can be fun.

Finally, I asked him to prescribe me an oral weight loss medication for the short-term to help increase the weight loss for the next year and so that I can reach a healthy weight. Then with all the food habit changes I can finally stick to a good weight without losing my foodie status. 🀣

Try some of the options above. And of course I mean you gotta exercise along with that. Try out new things if you find going to the gym and running on a treadmill boring. I took up an elliptical and swimming (though the latter is hard with my schedule and the timings of the free pool).

What are baked chips? Where do I get them? I had gluten free ones today.πŸ˜†

Isn't elliptical more for building strong muscle rather than weight loss?

Answering the question in ur title..it's difficult when we aren't really motivated enough and don't put in efforts. Also we r addressing the wrong question..being fit n healthy should be the aim, not losing weight

Thats sweet. Mine doesnt even know what slowing down meansπŸ˜†

But once you make it past the point where you start seeing visible results in the mirror, there's no going back, or at least there wasn't for me. I would never wanna trade the feeling of being in my best shape cuz of eating the right food and doing the right workouts for anything else. The dopamine rush is unbeatable.

I think you should keep pushing and make a habit out of it until you go on autopilot mode where you don't even need motivation to kick in ... cuz it becomes just another thing you do every day like taking a shower or brushing your teeth.

I recommend lifting weights/strength training at least 2-3 times a week and cardio at least 30 mins a day 4-5 days a week. that fires up your metabolism and helps you stay toned.

First let me get in the habit of cardio. After that I will shift my focus to weight lifting.πŸ˜†

and this is why I wasn't posting all these pages -- they always hate hearing what I have to say when they ask me about weight loss. πŸ˜†πŸ˜† Cardio is always a great start -- wish you all the best with staying consistent. :)

They are a new trend in healthy foods. I found them in the chips aisle in my local grocery store. But you can also make your own if you want.

Elliptical is for both. It's a bit harder to lose weight on it because it takes more time, but it's good. One of the instructors at the gym also suggested changing it up every week or so. Like I started off doing 30 minutes elliptical and then 10 minutes on the treadmill and then 10 minutes or so on 3 types of leg press machines (to reduce my thigh size). Two weeks later I changed it up and made it 20 minutes elliptical, 20 minutes treadmill, and 10 minutes in the sauna. The instructor said this stops your muscles from falling into a routine because if they do then it reduces the impact of the exercises you're doing. I'm hoping to bring swimming back into the mix soon.

Lift weights too. You can gradually increase your resting metabolism (how many calories you burn at rest). Also you'll be building your body at the same time too so win-win.

Do a combination of weight training + cardio + tracking your intake of calories versus how many calories your burn.

Remember - feel free to crave and eat junk food but in limitation. You want to enjoy the process, not feel forced/annoyed/depressed. And depriving yourself of something you enjoy is cruel.

The key is to just start the process because it's easier to continue doing something. And if you ever feel like you don't want to hit the gym, just convince yourself to either drive to the gym or put on gym clothes. You don't have to stay for the minimum time you usually spend, but it helps to maintain the habit.
