It does get more difficult as we grow older with other priorities.

Though, the way I look at it is if I care for my health, I can take better care of other things in life too.

Unfortunately we become easily complacent.

The concept of habit stacking was helpful for me to develop better habits.

No, she was trying to lose weight. She basically posted it so we could all relate to the realities of dieting. 😆

I definitely agree with you. As we get older our metabolism slows down, I can gain a kilo just by driving past McDonalds, in fact I probably gained half a kilo just by mentioning it here.

I’m glad it worked out for you.

Thank you🤗

New study actually says metabolism does not change much until 60. What instead happens is our regular NEAT (basic movement) decreases compared to when we were kids or younger. Example many people have sitting jobs and when they come home they sit down again for entertainment.

Plus the ease of ordering food with apps and convience really slows the progress they make. Food is a big factor in health as you cannot out exercise a bad diet.

I still struggle but keeping motivation and seeing this topic here and reading everything was very fun 😊

Same problem..I kept complaining that he was demotivating me😆 so he slowed down.

Answering the question in ur title..it's difficult when we aren't really motivated enough and don't put in efforts. Also we r addressing the wrong question..being fit n healthy should be the aim, not losing weight

The waves kept pushing me down, even when I tried to float on my back, as I was desperate to get some oxygen. It didn’t work and I gave up. I was sinking down when a man came to my rescue and saved me.

Thank God for strong swimmers like yourself. 🥺

thanks, but powerful swimmers also drown.

your experience sounds very similar to a couple of mine- one time in la jolla california, another time in newquay cornwall. In my case, I was out in the ocean a long time. By the time I tried to get back, it had started to rip. I was tired swimming so it was a bit of a struggle getting back. These days I break up my swim to catch my breath if I am in relatively unknown waters to ensure I don't get caught again.

all this talk, can't wait to hit the beach again next weekend. :)

All this talk reinforces my PTSD. I’ll stick to swimming pools. 😆

lol if only you were ok with larger bodies of water. You could have tried out for that Cleopatra sailing down the Nile role. By now you would have been a hit😛😆

Losing weight is difficult cuz it takes discipline, and self-discipline is the biggest challenge out there. :)

But once you make it past the point where you start seeing visible results in the mirror, there's no going back, or at least there wasn't for me. I would never wanna trade the feeling of being in my best shape cuz of eating the right food and doing the right workouts for anything else. The dopamine rush is unbeatable.

I think you should keep pushing and make a habit out of it until you go on autopilot mode where you don't even need motivation to kick in ... cuz it becomes just another thing you do every day like taking a shower or brushing your teeth.

I recommend lifting weights/strength training at least 2-3 times a week and cardio at least 30 mins a day 4-5 days a week. that fires up your metabolism and helps you stay toned.

I've read this story of yours in another thread before, in much more detail. Bless that man a million times.

Who says I still can’t try out for the role? Just give me a floaty and I’m all set to rule the Nile. 😆

A thousand blessings couldn’t be enough. To think that I would’ve died had he not saved me. ❤️
