Noone complained about Salman's weight in Sultan and Aamir's weight in Dangal...because they were realistic representations of the characters they played onscreen.. Tubelight just was too outlandish.. and the audience didnt connect with Salman's character..and coupled with his bad acting, his weight was already criticized.

I have confidence in the audience... if the film is good, they will also accept an average looking heroine.😃

Everyone wants to be called beautiful... Everyone... But not everyone falls under the conventional idea of what is beautiful. ... Whether its something they were born with say color or face structure or something that seems to be manageable like weight... Just dont mock people on their appearance... There is nothing more hurtful than body comments... You carry your body everywhere with you.. You cant discard it like a bad dress... Why contribute to making people uncomfortable in their own skin

Lots of people make fun of sonakshi... But she wears bodycon dresses.. Her frame is such that she will never look sleek...

Or lets talk about people with rolls... Look how constant weight comments screwed up pari's self esteem and her career... Listen to vidya when she talks about how her weight comments sent her into depression

Justmoi, since you asked this question - i enjoy reading your comments in various topics but when it comes to weight i feel you cross the line.. You might just talk about entertainers now but before you know it you might without realizing hurt someone in real life...
.

Whether its obesity or anorexia, most people who have battled with it will tell you its not just about eating and exercising right. Bad body image screws up your mind like nothing else and destroys your confidence...

I apologize if i sound preachy but If you dont like how a person looks (even if they are lets say lazy) why contribute to shaming and hurting someone?... Dont talk to them but dont talk bad about them

You must be thinking I am contradicting myself because I make some comments and make some threads.

But I dont care at all in reality. I am threads or comment if I feel at that moment or because I have to but tbh I do not care. These are not real.

Dont ask for my POV. It doesnt matter 😆 hey trust me..just love others, be happy, stop caring so much, dont make life complicated, use your moments you got to do something good.

Once you understand that you are not going to live forever on this earth such things like fashion, looks, motapa, acting does not matter 😆 love you 😆

Oh I contradict myself all the time. So you are in good company.😛

As for mortality, yep know how fragile life can be. I do believe there is a place to be nice, love people. But I believe in all the emotions, all navarasas,so I am not really nice all the time.. 😆. I also believe in the beautiful things of life. Art as in music, dancing acting, painting and that is important to me.. Shallow of me probably, but I do enjoy it a lot. 😳. Fashion is a form of art to me. Hence the criticism

If reducing fat is not possible because of body condition (some kids are born heavy, for whatever reasons), I don't like to criticise. But if the fatness is not natural, but because of lack of exercise, I will comment (Only people from entertaining industry). Ex: I won't comment on Vidya's weight gain, but I criticise Arjun. (I feel, he can look fit with excercising).

Also, it depends on the role they do and the hype they give towards their body shape. If one is doing glamorous role in a mainstream movie, I want to see a fit male and female lead. I can't imagine Vidya as a Dhoom girl. (If she does such a role, I would criticise her weight).
About hyping their figure. Once I commented on Kareena's weight gain because, everyday there was an article on how she has reduced weight (that too 19 Kgs!). If there was no PR, I would have not commented and considered it normal. (Same with Salman looking fit articles).

Thanks 😊

I know right I never understood what was his problem with me. I used to tear up everytime he would do that and the entire class would giggle away at my miseries. I used to have liver pain back then which is why any physical activity was tough for me. But he would not listen to me. I would tell my parents even they would be like its because of the exercise and that I will get used to it soon. That never happened and I was going crazy with that pressure. Finally during a medical check up at school the doctor talked to us individually about our health and thats when I jumped in to tell him that it pains. Finally he heard me and I was saved. He wrote for a ultrasound and I was found to be with an enlarged liver which was why it pains. Finally the torture stopped then. All my other PE teachers have been extremely nice so I guess it was just that guy and his mentality . Later during teenage years I lost weight , and then people would tease me that my legs are still too big. Thats when I realised its never about my weight but mostly about their fun at my expense. Since then stopped caring or feeling bad when someone had an opinion about my body.

Doesn't matter anymore but back then it was hell for me to feel humiliated everyday by someone or the other.

However if its the entertainment industry its a known fact that u need to look good on the screen. People are not paying their hard earned money to cringe everytime someone appears on the screen. Its just that type of a profession. But I also believe sometimes people go extreme with their criticism. Pari and Sona look fine to me much better then what they used to be. To expect them to turn into Deepika's size is ridiculous and the hillarious part is now people find Deepika too thin, almost unhealthy ( I feel the same though ) I have seen plenty of regional artists who do no have the best bodies but still click with the audience and had succesful careers maybe because their acting was better than their looks . So this whole excessive criticism just because someone has a bit of a weight is wrong. Coming to mocking people just because they are not the perfect size is completely wrong. Everyone don't have it easy with losing weight.Depends on their body structure and their health issues too so why mock. Its hurtful and unnecessary/ Do not like the person , don't watch their movie, call out the reason too that they are unfit. Thats fine, its an opinion and u have a right to it. Nobody has the right to mock someone by calling them names, then its just someone having fun at someones expense maybe the celebrity is not gonna read ur comments but some person living through constant bullying might and feel worse.

Thank you for your very honest post. Sorry you had to go through that.

@Bold Agreed.

@Red Easier said than done. If they are in a movie with my favorite actor or actress I cannot skip you know.

@Blue Very valid point. Did not think of it that way.

Thanks once again for your post. Something to think about.

according to me body shaming is unacceptance and consequent mocking of people with different body frames/types...not every woman has to be this petite delicate darling...yes even if this is entertainment industry,I don't mind people with some fat or untoned body much...sometimes people keep way high expectations...if you can criticize even priyanka chopra for her body then yes according to me it is a bit too much...you are the kind of perfectionist I can never be nor do I expect others to be...sonakshi is referred to as hidimbakshi because she does not have the body frame some people would refer as the 'ideal' body frame...unacceptance of people with different body types/frames.
If you are talented as an actor then I don't mind flab on your body...but if you are not exactly a good actor and your body and item songs are your selling points then I would like a more toned body...few days back I saw aishwarya's pictures of dhoom 2 days..I believe her stomach was flabby and I thought "God this woman is not even a good actor, least she can do is have a more toned body...does she rely completely on her face?"...but then I also thought "is it necessary to be flab less in order to be sexy" and also realized how much of a lazy ass I am.You have more right than me to criticize an actor's body as you take care of your body while I don't.But perhaps you should be more accepting of actors' bodies' flaws.
I have an example from television...from the show ishqbaaaz on star plus...IMO the FL of that show has been a pretty good actor since her first scene...but it was quite some time before she was accepted..initially she was criticized and body shamed...even the production people asked her to lose weight I think...why wasn't the hero asked to bulk up by going to the gym?
But there is one more point...I have noticed that people who do accept broader body frames body shame the petite looking actresses?why does this have to be the case?why can't actors with varied body types be accepted?where is it written that if your favourite is a petite looking woman then you have to criticize people with non petite frames?where is it written that if you like somebody with broader frame then you get to body shame skinny looking women?

I do not like excessiveness...so yes I do realize that if one is obese that is unhealthy and it should be corrected...and I don't like those thick skin models either. So excessive fat or thin is something I don't like...but I don't think our BW actors have that problem.

@Bold. This was pointed out to me in the 'Is Criticism Negativity' thread. I have different standards for entertainment and normal folks. My theory is they have help that most normal people don't and if I have to pay to look at them, why must I be subjected to fat bodies if the acting is not top notch ? I guess I am not looking at it from a different POV. Something to think about, thanks.

I m glad I could show u a different perspective. Sometimes it scares me what people can do out of desperation. I used to watch a show whr this girl would be humiliated for her fat body and she started taking pills and fast through the day just to get rid of her weight. That was so close to my life that it made me thankful that I wasn't pushed to that extreme in life. But who knows if there are such people in real life and one innocent comment might push them to those extremes. This is why I made the comment. It changed my thinking too.
