A new Anupama

Anupama Verma is all set to kickstart her career in television with BR Chopra's Pari Hoon Main. In the show, she plays a glamorous film financier.

The svelte actress, who is usually dressed in western clothes in real life, will be seen in an Indian avatar in the show. She will be seen wearing saris and diamond jewellery as she plays a career-driven woman.

Says Anupama, "The character I play is very different from what I am in real-life. It's far from the girl-next-door image that I have. It's quite a challenge to portray a role like that. My character is that of a woman who is very powerful and knows how to get her way."

Anupama's character is an integral part of the plot, which revolves around a film star and her film. She adds, "I have been given a distinct, elegant look with saris and jewellery. I am enjoying playing this stunning character which is so different from anything I have done before."

Anupama, we hear, wants to concentrate only on this show for the moment.

She says, "I don't want to take up any other show as my hands are already full. I am hosting a travel show for an international channel, doing plays, anchoring live shows, and running a production house. So, ten days in a month for this show is good enough."

Mohit Malik's hidden talent

Mohit Malik aka Rajveer Kapoor of Pari Hoon Main shocked everyone on the sets when he shot an entire three and half minute song in just one take.

Everyone was stunned to see his flawless dance moves knowing fully well that he is not much of a dancer. Like there are no shortcuts to success so this young lad also learned it the hard way.

"I have never seen or heard of a three and half-minute song getting shot in just one take. The song was picturised between Pari played by Rashami Desai and me. I used to stay back and reach early on the sets practicing to get the dance moves right and I guess it showed and the efforts are paid off," gushes Mohit.

Mohit certainly deserve a round of applause!

Where there is no money, there is no happiness, no comfort, no health
Mohit Malik

Money. That's what drives everyone in the final analysis, whether in the glamour world of acting or the hard grind of scripting and producing. Cashin' In sits down with TV celebs to know well they handle their financial matters, and tracks their spending patterns.

Mohit Malik who is currently seen playing the role of film star Rajveer Kapoor in Pari Hoon Main on Star One, has his head firm on his shoulders. He confesses that he has to go a long way in matters of finance. He is well aware of the difference that money can make in his life.

Get an instant insight into the financial matters of the meticulous Mohit.

How important is money for you?

Where there is no money, there is no happiness, no comfort, and no health. So money is the most important thing in my life. People who don't say that money is the most important thing in life must have not realised the reality of money. It is not that I am crazy about money but I know the importance of money in today's world.

Are you an impulsive buyer?

Yes. Whenever I like something, I pick it up immediately at that point of time. I am a shop-a-holic.

What are the investments you have made?

I have made a few investments in mutual funds. I haven't made many investments as I couldn't save sufficient amount of money for that.

What is your most expensive purchase?

My car a Suzuki SX4. I bought it for Rs 8.5 lakhs four months ago.

Do you feel financially secure?

No, because I am in an insecure profession. There is a possibility of going bankrupt in my profession. One needs to make savings and investments for the time when you are out of work. Since I have neither made any savings nor I am an actor who would take up any work for the heck of money, I feel financially insecure.

Who handles your expenses?

I handle my expenses. I come from a business background, so I take suggestions from my parents.

What was your first salary? What you did with it?

I earned my first salary when I was in Delhi. I was paid Rs. 3,000 for doing a print ad. I handed over that money to my grand parents as that is the tradition in my family.

How much money do you carry every day?

I am an absolute kangaal(bankrupt). I only carry Rs. 100 with me. I use credit cards and debit cards. I don't get time to go to the ATM to withdraw money, so I use cards for all my expenses.

Do you invest in the stock market?

No but I may invest in the stock market sometime later in my life.

Any advice for investors?

Don't be like me. Save your money and be careful when investing. Weigh the pros and cons of the investment that you are making

Pari Hoon Main going off air on 9/11

After getting an extension of fifty two episodes, Pari Hoon Main on Star One is finally going off air.

The show starring Karan Mehra, Mohit Malik and Rashmi Desai is slated to bid adieu on 9/11. A well placed source from the production house (BR Films) informs, "The production house has got an official announcement from the channel that the show will be pulled off on September 11 as the show could not garner much TRPs."

Pari Hoon Main, a show based on the popular Hindi film concept of double roles was started in January. After the extension there were various twists, turns and romance introduced in the story but in vain.

Actor Karan Mehra says, "Everything that starts has to end, sooner or later. Pari.. could not attain the sufficient TRPs, so it is going off air but we actors don't have a role in it. Being an actor, my job is just to act. "

Despite our repeated attempts the channel and the production house remained unavailable for comment.

Mohit Malik strikes at the eleventh hour

Published by Jaish under Hindi Television News, Small Screen News, TV Serials

Mohit Malik aka Rajveer Kapoor of Pari Hoon Main recently had a very amusing incident that will have you in splits! One of the scenes required him to knock hard into a mirror and he expected it to be a thin sheet of mirror that will crack into pieces in just a feeble knock, but turned out that the unit guys on not being able to find a thin one, bought a chunky looking glass, which made him a nervous wreck.

Mohit Malik says, "Gosh…. is this for real… was the first thought that came into my mind on seeing the thick looking-glass. I mustered up all the strength to split the mirror by punching blows at it, but to no avail. And finally in the eleventh shot- voila!!! The mirror was finally scattered into tiny pieces. Minutes later I saw my hand all black-and-blue, which was a little dampener after hitting the bull's eye."

Well Mohit this is clearly an example of occupational hazard!!!
