Mahi is getting buried...

First of all, hi to everyone here, this is my first post on this forum and I am sorry that it is going to be a somewhat complaining thread. I normally don't do posting in these threads or forums, but I saw that this forum is very active and many people discuss about this show regularly it seems.

Anyways, I have been watching Haar Jeet since epi 1 and I was totally intrigued. Initially, the show was about 2 main characters- Ishu and Mahi, with almost equal focus on both of them. But later the show diverted more towards Ishita and now with the grown up characters it is almost totally dominated by Ishita. I mean for the past few episodes, about 80-90% of the time was devoted to her and Sahil and the rest to all the other characters. I have got no problem with that, but what's then the point of portraying Mahi as another main character of the show ??

Please don't think that I have any problem with Ishu, (like I said I have been following this show since epi. 1 and like both the girls) what I have problem with is the writers. You see, in any story, when you are projecting some guys and girls as to be the main or lead characters of your show, then needless to say many people are going to get glued with one of them more than others, which may depend upon their choice, culture, their own lifestyle, experiences and other such things. It is just like one person like blue and the other one like red more. In fact it is the reason why we watch shows, to see how our favourite character develops. For example, with me, in case of Haar Jeet though I like both the girls but was always intrigued more with Mahi's character.

Coming back to the point, as far as the lead characters go, I believe it is unfair on the part of writers to bury one of them just to project another. And this is what exactly happens with many such shows today and Haar Jeet is, it seems, following that same route. And I am not saying that just within the context of more air-time devoted to Ishu. You see, it is one thing to portray "Ishita as a very beautiful girl" (which she is) but it is totally different to constantly portray "Ishita is more beautiful than Mahika" (though I believe the other way, but thats not the point of this thread).

I hope fans of this show here get what I am trying to say and will come up with their own opinions, and by the way I am also sorry for this long rant :-)...

Hi @bellie!!. Welcome to the forum..😊

Nice to know your views, and hope you participate more in this forum. Since u have been following from episode 1, you will be able throw more insight into discussion of the different characters..

I'm Sammy. i had been following the serial only after the leap.

I like both the characters Ishita and Mahi.. Ishu the rebellious one and Mahi the good one ..

I don't think Ishita is being pointed out as more beautiful than Mahi. In fact , it is always mahi who keeps saying that.. never heard ishu tell that she is more beautiful than mahi..
and the cvs had always been showing negative portrayal of Ishu , and Mahi as mahaan

As u had said, this is a story of 2 sisters. hope the cvs keep that in mind...

I also like Heena's acting , from what little had been shown so far..

Plzz keep participating in the discussions... Glad to have u in the forum..😃

thank you Sammy and Sana for sharing your opinions...I really hope that you 2 are right, but I don't have much faith with the writers of this show. Infact, the entire theme of this show has somewhat changed. With the addition of Sahil, the story has no doubt lot more potential, but the writers are turning the main theme into that same love affair between a boy and a girl or that same love triangle which so many shows today are filled with. And in the process, just like those other shows, they will bury few characters of the show. In this case, it is with Mahi. I think, I know what is in store for her, she will continue to get less and less air time, soon marry, and then soon will become mom.

This story had so much potential, just over a month ago, both the kids did so much wonderful job and now all of a sudden, both are going to get married!! I mean, the writers could have done more with the story by exploiting the wonderful chemistry between the girls in their teenage, college years. I hope, they would dump the enitre marriage angle for both of them.

valid point dear...agree with u😊
i'm also following this show after the leap...hav seen some scenes before leap and i must say ..the show was having lot of freshness n potential at the beginning...

now its being ruined...the same old love triangle... one sis being negative n other extremely positive...at least they could have shown two male leads...two different love stories...n yeah college-teenage stuffs n all😉...thats far better n entertaining than this🤢

agree with sammy n sana dii... Mahi is obviously other female lead...n i'm sure shez gonna get lot of screen space in the coming episodes...dont worry dear😊

but still..it wud have been better if they had given two male leads...there wud have been enough screen space for all!!

by the way, i'm reshma...do continue to share ur views dear😊
hope cvs will give us something better in the coming episodes😕 *fingers crossed*

Hi Welcome to the forum dear and look forward to loads of discussion. I am Vidya and have joined after the leap. But have seen most of the previous episodes to understand the characters.
You are right that it is a story of two girls and should focus on both, I think it is. if I remember correctly, it is so. the first week was for Mahi and the second week is for ishu. And the comparision of beauty is from mahi's side . Both Mahi's dadi and Ishu don't think or compare Mahi's beauty with Ishu.
Right now the focus is on Ishu- Sahil and Sahil's Background, since he also happens to be the lead, whether we like it or not. I feel there is a 4th one coming as a male lead either for Ishu or for Mahi, depends who Sahil ends up with.
The air time will be divided on 4 characters so we will have to be tolerant there.
I agree with you the theme of the story has changed completely. I hate the way they have diverted from a career oriented story to a love triangle and a story of who is the more mahaan one. But I feel the concept is same. As children they lost their childhood to their parents greed and now they will lose their youth to their family's expectations of becoming the ideal beti, bahu and wife.

But really love all the new presence in the forum. the show has good cast and good performances, so lets enjoy it till it lasts.

hi bellie welcome to the forum. i am simran and i have been watching only after the leap.

very nice discussion for all of you. sammy, sana, vids all others...

but i do feel they have to build the story till bit bcos in the process of leap Ishu found love and has a boyfriend.
now only way to show sahil and his history is with Ishu. hence ishu is getting screen presence. but once sahil story settles down they all will get equal time.

right now they are taking story to new heights. which is creating conflict between 3 characters etc etc...so lets enjoy and hope for the best.

but i am liking more people are coming to the forum. hope we all have fun and no finger pointing.

thank you Vidya, Reshma and Simran for sharing your opinions :-)...

@Simran, maybe you are right, maybe that is the reason why they are getting more screen space...i was just worried that they may dump Mahi's character...I would have done the same rant lol, if they would have done it with Ishu. Because there are lots of shows which do exactly that same thing. Those who have watched Uttaran, even the few early episodes will know what I am trying to say, writers of that show totally and unnecessarily buried one girl to project the other...
