I really pity and feel sad for Rangeela because he has known nothing else in his life except obeying his Maalik's commands without questioning them. Over a period of time that has become automatic just like breathing in and out. That's his mistaken concept of the duties of a Ghulaam..
Rangeela does not realise that total subjugation of his will, disregard of values and gambling away his life just to fulfill Maalik's commands ..,,,...do not constitute a Ghulaam's duties.
The only affection received by Rangeela has not been from his Maalik's but from his friends, mother and people of B'pur. Thus, with them his behaviour is like his normal self.
I used to dislike his character where he blindly followed the dictates of his masters but no more! How can one do that ? A young child has grown up to think all of this as normal for a Ghulam. How can he suddenly do things differently when this is what has been ingrained since he was a child. He simply knows no other way! He had no parents or guardian to tell him otherwise. The only people to influence him were the Choudhry's. That's a part of his makeup...who he grew up as!
This has been Rangeela's life until now. He believes Maalik orders/ honor above and beyond all.
With advent of Shivani he has started to experience events that are making him question things and feel emotions that are new. We see him subconsciously struggling with himself even as he carries out the orders that he doesn't like. We see the seeds of struggle within the person Rangeela. Until now the Ghulam has always been dominant inside Rangeela. But now we see him grapple with himself...where we see the human side rearing its head. The conflict can be seen!
Hence, the thought comes to mind that we are now seeing the start of Rangeela's journey to freedom...the struggle of Rangeela the person with that of the Ghulam...and the eventual triumph of the free person that he was meant to be!
