Don't expect any more posts from my side after this.

As my title suggests, that's exactly how I feel about Ghulaam right now. 🥱

It was promised to be a "different" kind of show but turned out to be a story of Three Musketeers- The spineless slave, the boring crybaby and the psycho Master. 🤪

Rangeela, on whom the show is named is anything BUT interesting! He is spineless. Period. No matter what big justification the CVs might provide for his unflinching ghulaami, NOTHING can justify what he did today! 😡

Nothing actually justifies anything he does for Veer, for that matter.

Veer is the villain whom I love to hate. He's probably a patient of bipolar disorder for all I know. 🤔

Shivani is plain boring! The few glimpses of bravery here and there notwithstanding, she is stuck in some sort of bubble, even now! No matter how old fashioned you are, self-respect doesn't come from your upbringing, it is just there- and she probably has none. Still hell bent on trying to convince herself that she has "duties" as a "wife" towards her coward of a "husband". 🥱

While the acting is on point (usually), the story is like a recycle of the once popular show on Zee TV named "Chhoti Bahu".

They reversed everything here, of course. In case you didn't know, "Chhoti Bahu" was a show where a guy named Dev, recently returned from U.S comes to Vrindavan, falls for a devout Krishna Bhakt named Radhika but mistakes her name to be Vishakha (Radhika's sister) and arranges a marriage with her. He gets married to Radhika who is playing dummy bride for Vishakha (who was supposed to get married to him, anyway), brides get exchanged in between the completion of shaadi and bidaai. Dev finds out, to his shock that Vishakha is a different girl altogether.

Sounds familiar? 😆

Actors are good but script is bad, direction is loose, pace is crawling.
I was fast forwarding even more than usual today. 🥱

They better wake up and smell the coffee!😡

Sorry Param and Niti are part of such an ensemble. They deserve better.

Still hoping against hope, ST wake up!

ST and Gul are pretty much birds of a feather...least likely to wake up and smell anything. 😆

For me it's about Rangeela's lack of will, conscience...in everything he does related to Maalik. His Ghulam psyche is totally ingrained and incomprehensible.
It needs to be addressed pronto by the CV's ...before Rangeela as a character is irrecoverable...

Param Singh is such a good actor. The only thing holding me back and waiting patiently is that he accepted this role on detailed info about Ghulam that is not available to us...

Besides this I have a big issue with the Mamaji-Veer akhara wrestling. The writer could think of nothing else to show the sickness of achoudhry's?
Also, how can Baalam say that Rangeela's hands are not covered by blood...what about commandos deaths? Friends threats work but actual distress and pain of people cannot pierce a Rangeela's conscience?
CV's do your job!

I tend to give shows a long rope to establish themselves as I don't expect the story be told in a hurry.

I'm sure these 2 popular youth stars signed this show based on the quality of the role and story line. It may have moved them to a new audience.

The story telling visually has just not't reached that point yet.

It takes time to establish the characters that this show has done. Even rashmi who is the mute one, still comes thru as the girl who fought after being picked up. Her spirit is broken but the whisper of her former self shows thru.

All the actors are well chosen for their part that tells me the team behind the show know what they want.

Pacing is a tough rope to walk on. Too slow and we lose interest, Too fast and we wonder what the heck and about continuity.

The show hasn't run that long to have multiple tracks. Its been a couple of days since she got there and all we have seen is regressive behavior and subtle acting that makes rangeela seem timid. I was surprised he walked away leaving the mamaji in Veer's hands... The need should have come from his heart to protect the mamaji and not because his friends send him... That felt out of character.

Not enough time hasn;t gone by for Shivani to turn into this towering independent woman from the cowering girl scared to cross the streets in delhi.
She has a long battle within herself and those around her to find her self.

Time will tell how they pan out.

@prem-diwani...you have raised valid points all around that I can accept ...
BUT...
Very curious about Rangeela's story...
Agree about the cast well chosen for their respective roles...
All characters developing at a faster pace than the Ghulam...planned as such ...i am positive...
Let's wait and see!

hi guys...the promos of the show along with the ensemble of cast especially vikas manaktala dragged me to this show...hwever i started watching on tv from today after i completed watching all the 20 epis so far on hotstar at one go...the show is that interesting that i cud watch all the epis in one seating widout skipping any parts...
the story is completely fresh for me since i hvnt watched the movie koyla nor the serial choti bahu as mentioned by someone here...

i can see disappointment already brewing regarding the characters...as for veer he is a plain psycho in a family of psychos...
however i can see some gud pts too in this character...for instance the men in this family r not so superstitious as their mother...

no doubt veer doesnt believe in the fact that shivani's death can bring curse on his life but still he respects his mother's beliefs and in keeping with the promise kept to her he refrains from dragging shivani to bed which is another plus point i can see in this character since 2 (or 3) nights hv passed but shivani has escaped being "raped" by this guy...i hvnt actually seen any real force from veer...

somehow he feels that wives need to be subjugated and they shud willfully become his bed partner...and that became the reason to kill her and after his promise to his mom his decision to inject her to coma since he cannot control her...

as for rangeela the title of this show as well as the promos did tell us that he will be more than a shackled doggy for his master...however wen the stow started i was pleasantly surprised that in spite of being treated less than a furniture ghulaam actually gets all the rights of a servant...11 months slavery and one month of freedom and getting rewards with lacs of money on regular basis...
as for his unfaltering devotion to his master whom he now regards more than bhagwaan i am sure there is a back story...i can guess that he lost his parents at v young age and this family has brought him up but still i feel there may be some more back story too...

as for rangeela's conscience it is there and we can see its glimpse wenever shivani is ill-treated or wenever shivani looks into his eyes expecting protection from him as he had promised wen taking wedding vows...however his innate slavery refuses him to awake to his conscience...that will take time because after all we all know that this story is about his slavery and how he comes out of it...

as for shivani...i think she has shown enuf strength of character since coming to berhampur...it is her strength that veer has not been yet successful in touching her...as for devotion to his spineless husband i agree that is quite OTT but i feel that will play a big role in awakening conscience in him...moreover it is justifiable to some extent since she is a small town girl who is orphan and brought up by mama mami...

the show may be already 3 weeks old but story's timeline has hardly covered 3 days...so i think it wont be logical to expect her to turn into a tigress from someone who is even scared to cross the streets of delhi...
however i like the fact that she knows how to take advantage of her enemy's weakness...she knows now that this family fears her death because of veer and so now she knows that they wont actually physically harm her and is even threatening to suicide if veer dares to touch her...

all in all...the show is fulfilling its promise and the characters hv been well written...the other two bahus r also apt...malda wali doesnt care about the fate of others though i wont call her evil...since her life is a mess so she cares about noone else...moreover she feels dejected since her husband is the eldest son of the family but also the weakest member...hwever i hope she learns to take pride in her husband who is the only one here who has some voice against all the injustices...

as for the mute bahu...she can hardly do anything after being silenced for life...but she can feel for shivani as we can see she is always there with her although she is as helpless in the land of men as the other two women...

so far i really loved the show except today's episode and first time disappointment struck...i am all with rangeela's unwavering slavery and being mute spectator of shivani's state but i just cannot find any justification y he dragged shivani's mamaji in this wen he already knows his frail physical condition...

he cud hv made any excuse to refrain from bringing him here...i hope this will be the only blunder and i will try to overlook this if tmrw they show something of rangeela's conscience by making him save mamaji from veer...

Great post dear. And ur right. I too feel the makers should justify rangeela unconditional ghulami and loyalty towards veer and family .
I also oppose the thing that he did not have any one blood in his hands. He was responsible indirectly for the commandos death which cannot be overlooked.
Hope he saves mamaji in time. I also don't like maldawali dressing style . And veer is a pshyco.
