Bollywood has always played a huge part in setting the fashion trends in our daily lives. The fashion industry has always been inspired by the designer wear which our stars flaunt on screen. But now even Tellywood has started contributing to our choices of clothes. Twinkle Bajpai of the Betiyaan — ghar ki laxmi fame takes the credit for this development. Her style of wearing a belt over her kurta is now being sold as designer wear in InOrbit, one of the famous shopping malls in western Mumbai.

"It's not because of me. The credit goes to the show's designer and Zee TV who had planned my look," says Twinkle modestly. Twinkle Bajpai comes from an orthodox, conservative family and in her real life too she prefers to wear clothes which suit her conservative image. Reportedly, she refused to wear a smaller kurta in a certain wedding scene, because she didn't want her belly to be seen. Here's one girl, who's modest and at the same time carries her family values not only in her reel but real life also.

When Romit had to walk back barefoot

Romit Raj aka Yuvraj of Ghar ki Laxmi — Betiyaan aired on Zee TV, recently got the shock of his life when he lost one of his favourite possessions and had to walk back home barefoot. Yes, we are talking about his expensive pair of shoes which got stolen from a temple he visited in Lokhandwala. "The temple is next to my house. I entered the temple the day after my first episode got aired to take the blessings of god. People recognised me and started chatting. As I went out I realised that my shoes were stolen. I was terribly hurt as I had to walk back home barefoot," says Romit.

Romit was razy about the particular pair and was depressed by what happened. "I practice Vipasana which teaches one not to get attached to material things. I have also learnt a lesson from the man who must have stolen my shoes i.e never leave your shoes outside a temple. Now I always keep my shoes in my car before visiting the temple", exclaims the young actor.

Well, guess Romit's bad deeds (more so the image of the thief) in the daily saga must have got the better of him off screen. Maybe someone mixed up his reel and real life images and wanted to teach him a proper lesson! (Sampurn)

Actually married?

The ongoing shaadi sequence in 'Ghar Ki Lakshmi Betiyaan' (Zee) was so traditionally done that the whole unit thought that Bhavishya (Kartik) and Sarswati (Kshitee Jog) were actually married. The series director, Rajan Shahi, says, "For the first time in my career, have I attempted such a sequence and made it so authentic that everybody on the sets thought that they had actually got married."

Rajan arranged for a real pandit to shoot the wedding scene and made all minute details--like the placement of the kalash on the mandap, technicalities of the kanyadaan and the timing of the pheras to be at 2. 30 am--were true to Gujarati tradition and customs.

"I asked Kshitee and Kartik to take 11 pheras to undo the sacred bond they have been unknowingly got tied into, what with the pandit not taking any shortcuts to complete the ceremony," quips Rajan.

'Weddings are integral to any soap but my aim was to keep it authentic. Right from the engagement, haldi and mehndi function and in coming episodes, the bidaai scene will also be shot in the same manner," says Rajan.

This wedding segment, shot over a period of month, has got the entire unit of the show comprising of 50 juniors and almost 20 actors bond like never before. 'With the bidaai being shot , the feeling of loss is already setting in and even Kshitee mentioned that she hopes all will go well with the new set of actors who now play her in-laws," signs off Rajan.

Horse power

When a horse owner demanded Rs 50,000 an hour to give his horse for a wedding sequence of Betiyaan, it made horse sense to settle for a car instead

For crying themselves horse: A still from Ghar Ki Laxmi Betiyaan

The wedding season put the unit of Ghar Ki Laxmi Betiyaan in a spot recently, for shooting a wedding sequence. The scene required a horse for shooting Saraswati's (Kshitee Jog) wedding sequence. But despite an extensive hunt, they couldn't find a single horse-owner, who would give them a horse for an hour. And when they found one, the man demanded Rs 50,000. Finally, the director decided to opt for a car instead.

When contacted Romish Kalra, director of the show, said, "Since we were shooting a traditional Gujarati wedding scene, we wanted the groom to arrive at the venue, riding a horse. But, after searching for days, we could not find a single horse because of the ongoing wedding season. And when we found one, the owner quoted an exorbitant price, so we decided to hire a car instead."

Romish further added, "It was a compromise, but these days we do have people using cars for traditional weddings too. However, the next time I will make sure that we don't plan a wedding sequence during the wedding season."

The next time I will make sure that we don't plan a wedding sequence during the wedding season— Romish Kalra

Mannish walks out of Betiyaan; producer fumes!!!

Time and again Mannish Goel has made headlines, more often for the wrong reasons. And now he did what he does the best - Walk Out!!! The actor who is known for his outspoken nature opted out of Star One's Paraya Dhan-Betiyaan as he was asked to wait for a few hours while the others were shooting.

"I didn't ever expect this from Mannish"- Sunjoy Wadhwa, producer, Saat Phere

Sunjoy Wadhwa, producer, Sphere Origins is very disappointed with his behaviour. He throws light on what happened exactly, "We were shooting for a dance sequence, and Mannish was asked to wait for an hour or two which pissed him off. So much so that he took to throwing tantrums on the sets and said he won't report to work the next day. And that's what he did - he really didn't turn up!"

Adds Sunjoy, " We didn't make him wait for eternity, and he certainly gets paid the same amount, waiting or no waiting. Mannish is the highest paid actor on the sets of Betiyaan Paraya Dhan. When an artist does something of this sort, where does his level of commitment go? We are a team of 18 actors and it is very difficult for us to chalk out scenes to fit in all of them. Mannish always knew that he will have scenes on and off. Things could have been sorted out but he chose to part ways this way."

The Betiyaan family minus Mannish

No one can deny that Mannish had recieved a lot of appreciation for his intense character and rugged look in the show. So how does the producer intend to deal with the track now? "Our aim is to find a replacement now. We will try our level best to keep up to the audience's expectations. Mannish did a very good job, but probably we will find someone better than him," states Wadhwa.

Mannish was unavailable for comment.

This is not the first time Mannish has faced flak from his show or producer. Earlier he had a face off with Dolly Sohi while shooting of Star Plus' Bhabhi and no one can forget the showdown with Anuj Saxena (though the two tellywood men patched up on the latter's birthday). He has also been on a rejection spree where he has turned down quite some reputed shows like Kaajal, Viraasat, Pyar Ke Do Naam Ek Radha Ek Shyam.

Is Mannish still high on the Nach Baliye hangover? If that is so...he needs a wake up call!

Mannish loses another role

The actor has been thrown out of 'Betiyaan Apni Yaa… Paraaya Dhan'

Only recently, TV actor Mannish Goel was replaced by Chetan Hansraj as the new character in 'Kaajjal' (Sony). Now, he has been replaced by the makers of 'Betiyaan Apni Yaa… Paraaya Dhan' (Star One). Apparently, he walked out of the sets on Friday even before the shoot was wrapped up.

On Mannish's sacking, the director of the series, Parthhoe Mithraa says, "I was told by the unit hands that Mannish had removed his wig and was leaving despite being told that he would have to wait an hour to complete the shoot. I went up to him and asked him what was wrong. He said it was nothing to do with me but he had issues with the production house. But he didn't even have the courtesy to tell me before leaving."

"He started his career with me in 'Ghar Ek Mandir' few years back and I have never seen this side of him. But now I am shocked and very disappointed at his behaviour. It has been brewing ever since we started 'Paraya Dhan'. He wouldn't give dates and constantly complained of being asked to wait on the sets," says Parthhoe.

"When you charge an exorbitant fee per day, you are expected to be on the sets all day and no one has ever said that life is easy when you are shooting for a daily series. He has been in the industry long enough to know that actors are expected to wait! He has set a bad example and has been unprofessional without doubt," fumes Parthhoe.

"I immediately called the producer Sunjoy Waddwa and the channel and asked for him to be replaced. His 'I was kept waiting' excuse is not acceptable. He was treated with kid's gloves here. Our shoots are held from 10am to 10pm unlike other production houses which work through the day and night. This production house is by far the best in the industry," signs off Parthhoe.

Mannish was not availabe for comment.

Kshiti Jog, who plays Saraswati in Ghar ki Laxmi – Betiyaan almost got married for real in the serial! The soap's director wanted her reel life marriage sequence to look very authentic. He wanted to incorporate all the rituals that take place when one is tying the knot for real. So he hired a real pandit to perform the marriage between Saraswati and Bhavishya (Kartik).

Talking about how her reel life ties would have been binding in real life too Kshiti says, "We had taken every minute detail associated with a Gujarati wedding into consideration. The pandit completed 30-40 per cent of their marriage before I realised what was happening. He even wanted us to even perform the real pheras. When he was asked to stop he got upset and complained that we were not allowing him to do his job properly."

Even though the wedding was stalled in the nick of time, emotions were unstoppable. Kshiti and her onscreen sister shed buckets of real tears during her bidai shot. Well, all you actors who have to get married at least a handful of times on TV better beware.
