summer food tips 😉
ICE CREAM SANDWICHES!!!
They are amazing treats. You can have them as snacks if you can put up with the calories. Make them yourselves. Bake your cookies, the store bought ones work too. If you are on a diet get all low fat stuff. You can add sprinkle. You can even insert fruits. Try different flavor of ice cream. This is a great treat for kids. If you are a mother, this will be one easy treat that will make your kid extremely happy. For other treat your younger siblings.😃
Fruits
They are absolutely necessary for a healthy balanced diet. You shouldn't only eat fruits when you are on a diet. It is very important to have the right amount of serving daily. During summer it gets hot. My favorite would be water melon. You can cut them, put them in fridge. Eat them when it's hot.
You can also make yourself fruit salad. Mangos and bananas are very simple and make a great combination. Add some fruit chaat masala to take it up a notch.
Drinks
I have recently gotten used to drinking green tea as it's very healthy. You can always add juice, honey or sugar for taste to iced tea. It's an amazing refreshment that will revive you during the hot days.
My sister can't live without smoothies. I thought it really is a lot if I have to get her one from steak n shake everyday. So I started making them myself. A little of vanilla ice cream, yogurt, milk, strawberries, and sugar if necessary. experiment till it's something you like. You can do this with almost any fruit.
GRILLED VEGGIES
grill grill grill! take your food outside this summer, enjoy with your family. This is save up the electricity bill inside the house. Even if you don't have space to go outside and grill do the grilling inside your house. It will be kinder to your waistline. Vegetables don't always have to be boring. You can marinate them in different spice and let them grill. The smoky aroma makes it delicious.
Grilled chicken
Marinate over night then place them in the grill. It is much healthier than other meat dishes, saves a lot of time and it's healthy. You can try it out in different flavors. if one day you do a BBQ sauce next day try a lemon garlic sauce. Use regular tandoori spices. Whatever it is. Use chicken breast for sandwiches.
Snacks
I am a hugeeee snack lover. When I turned to a healthy diet I started nibbling on carrots and nuts. Both are healthy, but at times I get bored. And it takes too long to make other snacks not to mention I start worrying how much calories I am taking in because of fried food.
Corn Chips and Salsa dips are life savers! I am usually lazy and I buy them. Baked corn chips and an assortment of different dips. From tomato to cheese. These days I even make my own dips 😃
What is summer without Popsicles?
So you have already tried ice cream, and so much ice cream is not good. Try freezing juice or soda. Mix your juices put them in a container. You can also try plastic cups. It is not just for kids, but at time adults get hot too. After I am done vaccuming the house I really need something cold while I watch tv.
