A film like THODA PYAAR THODA MAGIC makes you nostalgic. It takes you back to the light-hearted, feel-good cinema made by directors of calibre like Hrishikesh Mukherjee and Basu Chatterjee. The focus was on narrating a simple story. A movie that put a smile on your face even if you walked in with a frown.
THODA PYAAR THODA MAGIC does exactly that!
Strangely, for some reason, the film lacks the hype associated with a biggie. Perhaps, the string of flops the premiere production house [YRF] churned out, indirectly, took a toll on this movie. But THODA PYAAR THODA MAGIC should reverse the trend.

A bit of MARY POPPINS. A dash of THE SOUND OF MUSIC. A sprinkle of ENCHANTED. THODA PYAAR THODA MAGIC may not be the most original script, but the sweet and tender moments in this enterprise elevate it to a watchable status.
That Kunal Kohli is a fine storyteller has already been proved [HUM TUM and FANAA were accomplished works]. Now watch him handle a simple, uncomplicated story with dexterity and you'd agree, Kunal has only matured with time.
To put a long story short, THODA PYAAR THODA MAGIC is a simple story, well told. It's one of those films you'd enjoy watching with your family, without feeling embarrassed or red-faced. It's sure to put a smile on your face when you exit the auditorium, which, frankly, is a rarity these days!
Ranbeer [Saif Ali Khan], a leading industrialist, is a loner, not by choice, but because he lost everyone he ever loved. He is now faced with a peculiar and uncomfortable situation. In a rare and landmark court verdict, he is to look after four orphan children. The orphans hate him and want revenge from him. The children do not want to live with a man they hate; he too cannot face them or look them in the eye for certain reasons. Their life together is very unhappy.
One day, the kids pray to God for help and He does help them. He sends his most mischievous, childlike, lovable angel to the rescue, with a mission to bring Ranbeer and the kids together. Geeta [Rani Mukerji] comes bicycling down a rainbow… and bursts into Ranbeer's house as the self-proclaimed new nanny.
And then starts the roller coaster ride of fun, emotions, magic and love. An angel who doesn't know what love is. A man who always lost love. Four orphans who need love.
Kunal Kohli opens the cards at the very outset. The car accident and the subsequent court judgment set the story in motion. But the first half isn't without its share of flaws. The pranks played by the kids to harass Saif fall flat. They're anything but funny most of the times. Ameesha's character is another sore point. Actually, the film could've done without this irritating character.
However, Rani's entry in the story adds magic to the goings-on. Her interaction with the kids and how she eventually wins them over is enjoyable. The kids, of course, are the actual heroes of this enterprise, but more on that later.
It's the second hour that takes the film to a different level. How Saif bonds with each of them and the turning point, an incident that makes the kids see Saif differently, is simply excellent. Ditto for the finale, which may seem Bollywoodish, but you don't mind it.
Kunal Kohli has worked with the best of stars [Aamir, Saif, Hrithik, Kajol, Kareena, Rani], but the real test is to extract performances from four unknown kids and that's where he deserves brownie points. It's easy to handle grown-ups, but kids can be really tough. Also, Kunal doesn't [thankfully] make the proceedings melodramatic with rona-dhona thrown in to make it a perfect 'family film'. The emotions are subtle, but nonetheless move you.
Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy's music is a letdown, barring just one track, 'Pyaar Ke Liye'. Sudeep Chatterjee's cinematography is perfect. The effects are eye catching at times.
Saif fits into the sauve millionaire part [Richie Rich - the poor little rich guy?] very well. And the best part is, he never 'acts'. He's a complete natural! It's a pleasure to watch Rani in a role that does justice to her talent. She's lovable. But why is she sporting the same outfit throughout? Ameesha doesn't work, mainly because her role looks like an add-on. And what is she wearing throughout the movie? But she sizzles in the 'Lazy Lamhe' track.
The four kids are adorable. Each of them is terrific, but the one who's bound to walk away with taalis is the cute Sikh kid called Iqbal. Watch him break into the 'Main Nikla Gadi Leke' song from GADAR; it's bound to bring the house down. Rishi Kapoor is likable in a cameo. Taraana is okay.
On the whole, THODA PYAAR THODA MAGIC is a simple story told very effectively and efficiently. At the box-office, it may be a slow starter, but should gradually gather momentum with a strong word of mouth. Business at multiplexes will be the best.
Go watch it, it's a treat for your entire family!

Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic (TPTM) begins with young Ranbir Talwar (Saif Ali Khan) who goes through the trauma of losing everyone that he loves and is close to – his best friend, his mother and his professor at boarding school. This makes him the hard businessman that he is today – rich, ruthless and emotionless. The film begins with Ranbir meeting with an accident on his way back from yet another awards ceremony and deep in thought, his BMW rams into a Maruti instantly killing the occupants of the car – Mr. and Mrs. Walia. Fast forward one year and Ranbir's case has finally reached judgment day. Arriving with girlfriend Mallaika (Ameesha Patel), Ranbir waits for the judgment that could positively land him in jail.
However, for the first time in even the make believe judiciary of Bollywood, the judge passes a new style of punishment. The four orphaned kids of Mr. and Mrs. Walia will be placed under Ranbir's care and he can't go anywhere without them. The judge will be personally looking into that. (Yes, you are probably going yes, right but c'mon this is Bollywood!)
And so in walk Vashisht (Akshat Chopra), Aditi (Shriya Sharma), Iqbal (Rachit Sadana) and Avantika (Ayushi Burman). The four children themselves have been waiting for this day – the day that they can exact revenge from the man who has taken away their parents from them. From occupying all the loos in the house to creating a ruckus as he tries to close business deals, the kids do everything in their plan to make his life impossible. One night things reach a whole new level and the kids and Saif exchange words that they shouldn't resulting in a whole lot of tears and fervent prayers to God to help them out.
In walks God (Rishi Kapoor) who is having his meeting with his angels to answer prayers of the people below on Earth. Seeing the discord in the Talwar household, he sends his angel Geeta (Rani Mukherji) to help them out on the condition that as soon as she manages to get Ranbir and the kids together she must return back to Heaven. And that's how angel Geeta arrives as the nanny to the kids.
Obviously the kids are in no mood to make things easy for her and so they set up an elaborate plan to get rid of her only to fail every step of the way. Slowly and steadily she wins over each of the kids and then helps each of them bond with Ranbir. And now with her work done, its time for her to return back to Heaven and God. But with love blossoming between Ranbir and Geeta, she doesn't want to go back but spend time on Earth as a common man. Will that happen is what you need to watch the film for?
Credit needs to be given to director Kunal Kohli for extracting brilliant performances from the four children as well as the actors alike. In fact Rani and Saif's role although central to the film would probably fall in the supporting cast role, because the film has been woven so well around the four kids. Little sardar Iqbal is a treat and you almost want to pick him off the screen and take him home!
Saif's interaction with the kids comes across as totally natural – from his anxiousness at the start to the anger to the tender love and care are all in the right mix. Finally we come to Rani – she has done a great job as an angel but it would have been nicer to see her have some more fun with the kids as she tried to win them over.
Lastly the special effects which have been spoken endlessly do deserve a mention but there are certain scenes like where Rani is shown walking through the four seasons or the part where Rani drives Saif's car on the top of a tunnel could have been done slightly better.
TPTM is a wonderful feel good film which has the perfect mix of love, emotions, comedy and also the larger than life part of Bollywood!

The promos of few films are at times deceiving and this is what has precisely happened in the case of Kunal Kohli's Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic! The trailers of the film failed to generate sufficient interest in the film and Yash Raj's previous over-hyped film Tashan's failure only added to my resilience against expecting much from it.
The film begins with a flashback of a brooding business tycoon Ranvir (Saif) and his lonely childhood. Every important person in Ranvir's life leaves him forever thus creating a void in his life, which he doesn't wish to fill anymore. He keeps himself guarded from getting attached to anyone fearing he/she might again leave him making his life bereft of any happiness as it has always been. But as luck would have it, an accident brings Ranvir back to square one. As a punishment of accidentally killing a couple, Ranvir is given the custody of their four kids!
A person who has forgotten what love means is ordered to make sure that he showers the kids with unconditional love and attention. Devoid of it himself, Ranvir struggles to do so and thus enters a nanny Gita (Rani) who helps Ranvir bridge the gap between him the kids. Gita is an angel in reality and through her magical powers she brings back smile and happiness in the life of Ranvir and the kids. However, their happiness is short-lived as their guardian angel has to go back to heaven where she belongs...
The magic of TPTM works as everyone yearns for love and wishes that their beloved would never leave them but what happens when they do? Do you stop living your life? Do you stop smiling forever? One has to move on and find happiness in someone else's joy. Holding on to anger, grudge, revenge gives anything but happiness and forgiveness is the key to bliss. TPTM is all about this and makes its point wonderfully without getting preachy or overtly sentimental.
No one sympathises with the other in the film, yet it brings tears in your eyes to see four abandoned kids missing being in the company of their deceased parents, a man who has all the wealth in the world and can face any problem but cannot face his conscience which reminds him of his unforgivable mistake.
To our relief the film doesn't have any twists and turns, nor has the director attempted to do anything weirdly different. He sticks to the method of narrating simple, subtle yet effective story-telling. The director doesn't hide to show that he is highly inspired by Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke and The Sound of Music either.
The climax of the film could have been more effective but that doesn't take away anything from the movie.
As far as the performances are concerned, Rani steals the show completely. She infuses life in the film with her verve and pep. She makes for a perfect angel. Saif looks and acts as dashing as ever. The couple's chemistry makes the film all the more likeable. (Watch out for their banters) The kids render a decent act too. Amisha Patel plays a dumb fashion slave who does nothing except for annoying you whenever she appears!
Shankar Mahadevan's melodious music and touching lyrics add soul to the film... especially the song Pyaar Ke Liye.
Watch the film to discover an angel in you. Cast a magic spell on yourself and shower your love on those who need it much more than you do...

Learning from their disastrous attempts at other genres, Yash Raj Films gets back to wholesome family flicks. And director Kunal Kohli steps up seeming to have the answer to all the woes of the banner. By throwing together a kiddie flick,that has thoda of everything and still seem a fresh package of a rather ol' wine.
So a thoda of Sound of Music or Mary Poppins never did anyone any harm. Nor will thoda dose of recent flicks like Nanny McPhee or Lemony Snickets. So why not stir it all in the melting pot and bring forth THODA PYAAR THODA MAGIC.
Ranbeer Talwar (Saif Ali) is a pretty successful businessman Saif Ali Khan). Though he has been pretty much the achiever at everything he does from childhood, he has only stood to lose the people he loves. And this loner's life takes the plunge when he ends up killing a couple, the Walias, in a road accident.
However the twist is that instead of a prison sentence, the judge hands out a controversial judgement whereby the accused Ranbeer is given the complete responsibility of the four kids of the deceased couple.
However Ranbeer realizes that this is not going to be an easy task especially with the foursome out to seek revenge. Even Ranbeer's bimbo girlfriend Malaika (Amisha) too ends up failing to win the hearts of the kids
That is when God himself (Rishi Kapoor), dressed in all white, decides that he shall dispatch his angel down to earth to help out the kids. And he finds no better candidate than the bubbly Geeta. (Rani Mukherjee).
Now it is upto Geeta to pose as a nanny and ensure that she completes her task of getting Ranbeer and the kids together!
Director Kohli has made a splendid kiddie flick and is sure to be lapped up by those below 10. And the film has enough to keep the ones accompanying them entertained. The ones in between however are not going to derive the same amount of enjoyment. Barring the 'Lazy Lamhe' number, Kohli has ensured it stays rooted in the fantasy realm in which the narration is spinned around. But that one song though eventually is well incorporated, does stand out like a sore thumb. But then being the most popular number from the film, I guess that shall not bother many.
The script and narration is straight forward and nothing exceptional is tried out here. You do not have crass humour or the unwarranted subplots here in the name of Bollywood masala. But then again, that certain charm associated with movies like Mr India and Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke is missing here…the kind that makes these moves a repeat viewing success for viewers of all ages.
What saves the day for the older audiences at the end of day is the acting. Saif Ali Khan plays his part perfectly and shows how much he has evolved as an actor. Saif is certainly at ease here and fits the bill.
Also after crying her heart out in recent outings like Baghban and Laaga Chunari…, Rani Mukherjee is bound to be received with open arms as the bubbly angel who just cannot cry. That in itself is a welcome relief and gives Rani , an extremely powerful performer a chance to chill away with this role. Once again, even Rani makes it look like a cake walk and to top it, like a cherry comes the on screen chemistry between the Hum Tum pair.
But the real life line of this film are the kids and that is where Kunal Kohli has kept his word and not shown the kids as the typically irritating all-too-smart kids that run havoc on the Indian screens. This foursome plays it out as normal kids and therefore connects a lot better with the viewers, especially the boy who plays the role of Iqbal. He walks away with some of the better scenes in the film.
As for a Kohli favourite Rishi Kapoor, he comes out decent enough as God in Jeetu ji's white attire. But then again he is no Morgan Freeman. Amisha Patel plays the bimbo part perfectly and gets a chance to sizzle away in the Lazy Lamhe song.
Back to the movie, the USP of the flick is its creative screenplay which is aided by some of the finest visual effects witnessed on the Indian screen. Be it the dance in the skies 'Bulbula' or the Night at the Museum inspired 'Beetey Kal Se', it brings freshness to the song visualization. And what is commendable is the fact that the makers never bragged about it but instead let the magic take over onscreen.
That then brings us to the music department which is extremely strong. To begin with Shankar Ehsaan Loy trio reteams with lyricist Prasoon Joshi to recreate to a great extent the magic they brought to Taare Zameen Par. And that is well followed up by the background score from Sandeep Chowta which is effective despite resorting to Hollywood-ish clichs. And even if you miss all these finer things, you are still sure not to miss some Apple and Dominoes branding in the movie. But you cannot be blamed for missing certain Lucha singh and Sher singh who goes completely missing from the script pages as the film progresses.
This is the kind of movie that has a certain vintage Disney charm and feel to it. And we all know that in these days of bikini clad hot bods and bare chested dancer boys, not much Bollywood movies know what that exactly is. But Kohli seems to prefer sticking to the basics to come up with a sweet and endearing movie. And thankfully, it is low on melodrama too.
So what you waiting for, take those kids and treat them to Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic. This one is for them, and let them enjoy the magic and fantasy.

Despite Kunal Kohli's attempts to push the release of the other film ahead or request producer Sahil Chadha to change his film's title, Kunal faces the confusion battle of titles.
With the sinking of Tashan and Yash Chopra himself taking over the reins of the Yash Raj Films banner, immense pressure rides on Kunal and the entire force at YRF.
While glancing through the promos, you would expect this film to be a kiddie film or just yet another glamour speckled film with Rani, Saif and Rishi Kapoor –all from 'Hum Tum'. But Kunal who is also the co-producer of the film surprises you out and out.
The film revolves around Ranbir Talwar (Saif Ali Khan ) a rich businessman who in an accident is responsible for the death of a husband and wife. The judge orders Ranbir to officially be the guardian of these kids else he would have to spend 20 years in jail. The bunch of 4 kids soon move to Ranbir's house with a prime motive of revenge.
As the kids are unhappy and cry out to God(Rishi Kapoor), he answers their prayer and sends them Geeta (Rani Mukherji) , his favourite angel. As Geeta enters the family as the nanny with her super powers she is soon able to win over the kids and her next mission is do away with the hatred the kids have for Ranbir.
Let me clarify that this is by no means is just a kiddie films. Kunal does really well in striking a balance for all audiences. The film emerges as a complete family entertainer. It has its moments of fun , laughter and tears.
Kunal Kohli handles the subject with care and never let's any character in the film especially with their 'star' presence to overshadow the script. The film never has a dull moment and keeps you engaged and for most of the period in splits.
The special effects are such a treat. It just lifts the film. The kids are surely gonna go crazy over this film.
The casting of the film is just apt. The kids are a treat specially the Sardar who is the true hero of the film. He is so cute and delivers with excellence. Notice even the youngest girl in the film she too is cute and delivers with complete innocence. Watch out for the scene where Saif and the Sardar become friends and also when Saif tells Avantika that he wants to dump Ameesha. It's hilarious!
Saif Ali Khan shows great maturity as an actor and carries off really well. It's a treat to see a simple Saif unlike the usual cool funky Saif.
Rani Mukherji delivers well after a very long time. It's amazing to see Rani do away with her sexy image and come with a more substantial role.
Rishi Kapoor does well as GOD. He enacts very much like Morgan Freeman of 'Bruce Almighty'.
Ameesha Patel comes in a guest appearance for all those people looking for the sexy element in this film. She enacts the character of a complete bimbo in those micro-minis and Bikini.
The cinematography of the film is splendid with effects adding to it all.
The music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy comes in as a treat with tracks such as 'Kabhi Socha Na Tha' and 'Nihaal Ho Gayi' growing on you. The lyrics by Prasoon Joshi are meaningful and deep.
On the whole, Kunal Kohli excels with ease and brings forth a movie that is the winner of the week. Thank God Yashraj Films still have directors like Kunal Kohli around to save them from disgrace.

The only trailer of Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic that created some sort of a buzz around the movie was the 'Lazy Lamhe' trailer featuring Amisha Patel in skimpy clothes. Yashraj in the last 2 years or so, have stopped promoting their movies as aggresively as they used to. And the result.. a slow start at the box-office. An average opening means, a lot depends on strong word of mouth, for which the movie has to connect with the audience. Last few movies of Yashraj Films, with the only exception being Chak De India, have failed miserably. Can the Saif Ali Khan - Rani Mukherjee starrer, directed by Kunal Kohli of Fanna and Hum Tum fame create magic?
Ranbeer Talwar (Saif Ali Khan) one of India's top business tycoon, is a loner. He tends to loose everyone he loves. They try every trick in the book to make his life a living hell. The kids succeed, but long for parental love and affection, at the end of the day, they are a bunch of unhappy kids. Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic Review
The first half of Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, although slow, will appeal mostly to the kids between the age group of 4 - 12. It has almost nothing in it for the older generation. A lot of special effects have been used, which the kids would enjoy immensly. There is a song shot in a museum wherein a Dinosaur dances along with 4 kids and Rani! The second half, is a family entertainer, it has something in it for everyone. There is a super hot Lazy Lamhe track, Amisha Patel dares to bare it all.. well almost! The kids would benefit a lot from a movie like TPTM, it has a message, told in a very entertaining way which would connect with the kids. The church scene at the end, isnt very convincing.. But then TPTM is a fun movie, trying to find sense in the story doesnt make much sense. All said and done, Kunal Kohli movies have always managed to entertain and Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic is no exception, his execution of the script too is upto the mark. The special effects are awesome. Barring Lazy Lamhe and Nihaal Hogayi, rest of the songs are disappointing. Cinematography is good.
Saif Ali Khan is superb, a very matured performance. Its amazing to see this actor perform varied roles with utmost ease and confidence. I found Rani Mukherjee a bit irritating in the first half, but she does well in the second. The kids are sweet and perform well. Most movies these days have kids dressed in designer clothings, perfectly set hair, neat and clean. But in Thoda Pyaar, they look like they should.. like Kids! Amisha Patel has very few scenes, the only demand of her role is to look hot in almost nothing, she manages that and a bit more! Rishi Kapoor is good.
Overall, Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic is not exactly a only-for-kids movie. No doubt, they would be the ones to enjoy the movie the most, but there is something in it for everyone. Book your tickets, relax yourself, go and enjoy this fun ride. The opening has been average, a lot now depends on word of mouth.
Am gonna divide the rating into 2 parts.
For kids Rating: 4 stars
Rest Rating: 3 stars

A combination of fantasy & reality : This is one film which is a perfect blend between fantasy & real life. That's the movie's USP. What's more is that the heroine of this film is not allowed to love, that makes it a bit unusual too.
Moreover, unusual is that Rani Mukherjii playing an angel that never happened in the Indian Cinema, in the last 50 years, has not made a film like this. We really haven't seen women doing anything with super-natural powers before.
Character Sketches : Rani Mukerji alias Geeta - Geeta is like a storm who barges into Ranbeer's life when he and the four orphans find it difficult to live with each other.
Geeta comes with a mission from heaven to unite Ranbeer and the kids, but something happens on the way... an angel who could not love starts wondering what love is.
An angel who is above all human emotions of tears and pain and love, starts to feel something. But how can an angel love? She's on a mission - she has to go back when it's done.
Vashisht, Aditi, Iqbal & Avantika: When the four Walia children are orphaned, they decide one thing - they don't need any relatives to take care of them as they have what they need to survive - they have each other.
But what they really want is revenge from the man they hate - Ranbeer Talwar.
Saif Ali Khan alias Ranbeer Talwar - Ranbeer Talwar was a young boy who lost everyone close to him. He became a loner.
He was an achiever from the time he was a boy, but no victory, no trophy meant anything to him, as he was alone. The one thing he always wanted in his life was love and that was the only thing he always lost.
A winner in every deal, in every aspect of his life, Ranbeer immersed himself in his work and completely ignored every other aspect of his life, until he is face to face with four orphans who need love and an angel who could not love.
Story : Ranbeer Talwar (Saif Ali Khan), one of the country's top industrialists, is a loner, not out of his free will but just because he lost everyone, he ever loved.
Life turns around 360 degrees when he faces the most uncomfortable situation of his life. In a very unusual court verdict, he is to look after four orphan children.
Unfortunately, the orphans hate him and want revenge from him for some reason and Ranbeer cannot meet their eye for certain reasons. The children do not want to live with a man they hate and they go ahead to make it quite evident.
Their life together is very unhappy, one day they pray to God for help, and he does help them. He sends his most mischievous, childlike, lovable angle to the rescue, with a mission to bring Ranbeer and the kids together.
Geeta (Rani Mukherjee) comes cycling down a rainbow... and bursts into Ranbeer's house as the self-proclaimed new nanny. And then starts the roller coaster ride of fun, emotions, magic and love.

Underwater Shooting: The film has a sexy song "Lazy Lamhe" featuring Amisha Patel in a yellow bikini designed by Manish Malhotra, which grabbing the eyeballs. Much preparation and hard work went into the shooting.
The shooting of the song wasn't a cakewalk for both Amisha and director Kunal Kohli. The song was shot at a resort in Alibaug. Mr. Kohli initially planned to wrap the song within eight days. But it eventually took longer than that.
The number was set in and around a swimming pool. Since a part of the song shows Amisha going underwater, the actress had to train before doing the scenes. Also, Kohli got a special underwater camera to shoot those sequences.
However, when Amisha began to shoot, she developed fever because of repeatedly going into cold water in the month of January. Then, Kohli found a way out. He planned to heat up the pool's water before shooting.
This doubled the task of the production team but the result was eventually achieved. Finally, the song that was meant to be shot in 8 days was canned in two week's time.
Overall: The film is very different from all the Kohli's previous films. He did not use the same style of directing in any of his films. It's a combination of fantasy and reality. The genre of this film is slightly different.
Fantasy is interwoven with reality like in 'Mr. India', 'Krrish' and 'Koi Mil Gaya'. These films have kids but are not directed only towards kids, it could be watched by audiences of all ages.
Kids, now – a - days are very intelligent and you cannot talk down to them. They have to be treated with respect. Kunal's film is an entertaining Hindi film, which is for kids as well as the masses.
Shankar – Ehsaan - Loy have given the music for 'Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic' and the lyrics are by Prasoon Joshi. It's a complete mix of emotional and upbeat music. The music of the films have always been strong and interesting.

Kunal Kohli gets his HUM TUM team together to recreate THODA PYAAR THODA MAGIC. He even has Rishi Kapoor playing God, who earlier played father to Saif Ali Khan in HUM TUM.
To be fair to Yashraj Films, this movie will undo a lot of damage, salvaging box-office collections all through the country. Reason: this film is based on kids, and it cuts across all age groups.
Kunal Kohli begins the proceedings with a bang, literally. Within a few moments, as the title track begins, he captures (Ranbeer Talwar) Saif Ali Khan's childhood and goes straight for the kill as his car bangs into another resulting in the death of a couple. Talwar, a successful businessman, is charged with murder. So what will the court verdict be? The judge stuns all stating that Ranbeer will have to look after the four children of the deceased until the youngest turns 18 years of age. Ranbeer hates kids, as he is still living in the past of his lost childhood (his mother died when he was very young). The kids are out for revenge and God has a meeting with his angels to bring sanity to this situation.
Down comes an Angel, (Geeta) Rani Mukherjee, on a cycle in the form of a governess, to help the two warring parties reason out with a little bit of love, and a little bit of magic from her side. How the kids make up with Ranbeer and how Ranbeer reconsiders is what the movie is all about. Yes, your mind does race back to the 1993 Aamir Khan-Juhi Chawla starrer HUM HAI RAHI PYAAR KE. So what's new? Kunal has made intelligent use of animation and special effects to add a zing to the proceedings. Kids are going to love it.
Ameesha Patel in a guest appearance is Ranbeer's girlfriend. To be fair to the girl, she plays her part well and looks gorgeous in her eye-catching outfits. However, this being a children's movie and considering a lot many kids will want to see this movie, Kunal could have gone easy on the skin show. With parents for company, the kids are sure to squirm in their seats if not the other way round.
All the kids put in a good performance. Saif Ali Khan lends able support. The chemistry between Rani Mukherjee and Saif Ali Khan is still intact and they have some cute moments.
The music is nothing to shout about but overall, a decent fare, which the kids will love to watch.

THODA rona dhona. Thoda tweeny pranks. And thoda special effects. Ten minutes into the movie and you know what's up next for the suave biz tycoon Ranbeer Talwar (Saif Ali Khan), who walks out of award ceremonies (of course, with awards) even before his name is actually called out for. Phew! Now that's what we call a poor little rich boy! Cut to the tale of four sorry kids who've lost their parents, courtesy the hit-and-run Mr Tycoon. Of course, he ends up playing court-appointed-legal guardian to the kids. As for the kids, they find shelter and naturally it's their chance to take panga with their unwanted foster pop. Not to miss out is Ameesha, who in a way nails the silly fashionista part, not just in her skimpy outifts, but also her blind faith in astrology. Makes for some lazy lamhe with a welcome change of image by Ms Goody Two Shoes!
But hey, no magic here till now. So where is the magic? Well, the magic actually starts working in the second half when angel-turned-nanny-turned- didi Rani Mukerji, aka angel Geeta, makes the tycoon and the kids realise the world is but a beautiful place. And how does she do it in that house of badmashi, bullying, back stabbing amidst the bratpack of four kids, Vasisht (Akshat Chopra), Avantika, Aditi and Iqbal? First, by playing almost wifey to Saif (though not one for real) in an authorative way, as her heavenly English accents gets lost with some earthy punjabisation. And then with the kids by flying her way through literally every problem -- the sea, swimming pool, forest, jungles, museum... You name it and she's zooming ahead, with a song and a smile! For this celestial being belongs to the heavens, abode to God (Rishi Kapoor), who has the toughest task of all... He needs to make humans learn to live happily ever, just like the fairy tale.
Kunal Kohli turns his attention from seemingly adult tales -- Hum Tum, Fanaa -- to a desification of Mary Poppins. And like his earlier films, he displays a strong hold on the medium, despite shifting gears to sentimental family drama. Saif's good, Rani's commendable, but the show stealers are the babalog who carry the emotional parts to near-perfection on their frail shoulders. Truly, it's the age of WHIZ KID in Indian cinema!
