Shaadi No.1
Childish Humour!
By Prema K. 2005 Bollyvista.com
This 'Shaadi No.1' is unlike any of the films from the No.1 series of the duo, Vashu Bhagnani and David Dhawan. This one is silly and with the occasional double meaning jokes. The film deals with straying husbands and wives but this one seems like a cheap imitation of 'Masti'.

Call it incompetence or carelessness on the part of the director but the film fails to hit the bull's eye! One doesn't mind senseless or escapist films but beyond a point, watching this film seems like a waste of time. It is half-baked despite the jokes and skin show.

To give the film its due, there's no dull or serious moment really in the film but the jokes get boring after a while.

It's about three friends, Raj (Fardeen Khan), Veer (Zayed Khan), and Aryan (Sharman Joshi) trying to get closer to their wives played by Bhavana (Ayesha Takia), Diya (Esha Deol), and Sonia (Soha Ali Khan).

At one point they also contemplate suicide as they feel that their wives don't respect them enough since they are worthless. They even try to but are unlucky here. Suddenly three hot women, Madhuri (Riya Sen), Dimple (Sophie Chaudhary) and Rekha (Aarti Chhabria), are literally thrown into their laps and they jump at this unexpected opportunity to have a good time in life.

How the girls come into their lives is not worth getting into. It sounds as stupid as the film. The different ways used by the trio to woo the three girls is funny in a very childish way. Till here the movie is fun but it settles down into a boring, predictable fare.

Anyway, life held out a lot for the three guys but unfortunately for them, Lucky Bhaiya (Sanjay Dutt), a distant relative of one of the three wives enters the frame. He discovers their extra-marital affair and threatens to and even blabbers about it to the wives. The wives being typical Indian 'naris' refuse to believe this of their husbands until the truth finally dawns on them. Tears and threats later, all's well that ends well.

A Still from 'Shaadi No 1'
One doesn't expect logic from a David Dhawan film but there are cases of too many cinematic liberties here. How does one explain a young, modern day and newly married woman abstaining from having sex with her husband because of some 'mannat'? Come on give us a break!

The other two wives, Diya and Sonia were projected as very career minded women. How did they suddenly become very religious and home bound suddenly? The height of it all is when the guys kill Sanjay Dutt and his body falls off a cliff by mistake. Then how does he resurface? Is it a ghost or the real one? Never mind, by now one has lost interest in the film!

The climax where the {Careful... Spoiler Alert} three couples are hanging from a pipe is really stupid. Worse still is how they fall down one after the other and are saved.

The music is just okay. The dialogues are okay. What makes the film slightly endurable are the three guys. They share terrific screen chemistry.

Of the girls, Esha Deol is the most endearing followed by Ayesha Takia. Soha is too insipid. Oh, we forgot the other three girls; the girlfriends. They are there just for oomph value! Sanju is cool but a little irritating in a few scenes. On the whole, it's a film where you won't miss much if you skip it!

Pathetic, Disgusting, Total Waste of money and time.

Sanjay Dutt not put to proper use. Too much of idiotic "Hain Jee"-"Hain Jee" by Sanjay Dutt that can really get on anyone's nerve. (There was nothing to laugh on)

The publicity made me to watch the movie....and I am regretting now.

David dhawan could have done a better job.
