Kunti looked up as the music of the clinking of the anklets of the girl drew near. Draupadi's friends guided her to Kunti's chambers. She lighted the diya on the aarti plate and rose to welcome the new member in her family.
Draupadi bent down coyly to touch the feet of Kunti devi, her mother-in-law. Kunti immediately pulled her into a warm embrace. Gently stroking her hair Kunti said to Draupadi, "My dearest, as Indrani Shachi is towards Devaraj Indra, as Swaaha is towards Vibhavasu, as Rohini is towards Chandradev, as Damayanti is towards Nala, as Bhadra is towards Vaishravan, as Arundhati is towards Vashishtha and as devi Lakshmi is towards our Lord Narayana, you will be so devoted and loving toward your husbands. You shall be the mother to brave children; you will, along with your husbands will successfully conduct numerous yagyas with you at their side.
"My dear, you shall be blessed by the the presence of the Brahmins, sages, elders and children that shall benefit from your loving care. Sharing your great destiny my sons shall achieve the greatest successes. By your fortune, the scions of the Kuru dynasty shall be instated as rulers of many great kingdoms. You shall donate the land procured in an Ashwamedha yagya to worthy Brahmins, receive the best of earthly wealth that shall grant you a happy life with your five husbands." she smiled at her and added, "Make me a grandmother, and I'll say this again." causing Draupadi to blush profusely as Kunti handed her one of her own precious necklaces.
Meanwhile the spies of the kings invited for the grand celebration informed them of the true identities of the Pandavs. As the Lakshagriha massacre flooded back to their memories, they heartily abused Dhritarashtra and Duryodhan before finally returning to their kingdoms, satisfied.
"Maharaj!" exclaimed Vidur, "Maharaj! We have been blessed with the beautiful and intelligent daughter of Panchal as the daughter-in-law of the Kurus!" A light seemed to light up the blank eyes of the King, "Yes! Which one is it? Suyodhan or Dushshasan?" "Suyodhan? Dushshasan? O Maharaj! Not them! It's bhrata Pandu's sons that have married her! Our Arjun won her hand in the contest!" "Pandu's sons? But they-" "Didn't I tell you Maharaaj! Bhraata, they're fit as a fiddle!" "Uh-oh, yeah good. Pandu-putras, my sons. Yes, very good! They're safe! Yes, order for celebrations in the kingdom. Tell 'em to make merry. I'll just go and speak to Gandhari. She was waiting to receive Panchali anyway." Despite however he tried he couldn't keep disappointment out of his voice.
Duryodhan shouted and yelled at his servants while his brothers attempted to calm him. Dushshasan however added fuel to the fire with his abysmal sense of logic. He said, "That brat of an Arjun! He got her only because he was dressed as a Brahmin! No one even recognize him! See, 'tween luck and effort. It's luck that's stronger. It was luck that saves those five brothers even after we tried to finish them off and so I shun Effort." Duryodhan stamped over another copper glass, "IT WAS PUROCHAN'S FAULT!"
