I know you explained about the leaving but he said the thing about Channi when he was angry. Also when the whole family wanted her to stay she could hardly resist. Seems like his anger or frustration is making him give up too soon on her, or is this some sort of weird punishment for not picking him first. I love this Geet with all her confusions she seems to be the fighter among the two.

Given that you mention it specifically, that is my fav scene that I wanted to write for Noli Me tangere (since 6 months)...but ended up writing for this one. Although in the process, I found a similar scene in one of Lahiri's stories.

No issues about the delay.

The response to your question is in your comment too. It's was another situation for her to consider his angst...that's all.
I would say both Maan and Geet are fighters in my view (given that you don't like this Maan, I think Nirvana and you can be a team) but fighting against their own agendas.

Thanks Gurl for letting me know your thoughts !

"In that room, she was no longer sure, who needed solace first; her - for lacking the courage to accept her life with him; him - for giving up too soon on the life she hadn't shared with him yet; Channi - for vainly having trusted a man she didn't know, to have a life that never was meant to be" --> That summarized the crux of the story. Duh! right :-)

"She hadn't reacted then and had simply stared back at him; a piercing stab at the place from where he'd removed his hand. It was then she realized what he'd gone through when she'd neglected him in the initial days, altogether dismissing their relationship, however unexpected it had been" --> very nice!

This is all my fried brain can rationale right now. More later

Here it goes.

The act of Geet kissing Maan infront of her family, by itself is a harmless act and can be misread to be driven by different motives. Although, its not so much the case when you add her diary entries to it. Especially, the last one, which gives away that there is more to that kiss.

It's not now that she realizes she faces a strong pull for Maan. In reality, she was the first one to have experienced the forces of attraction out of the the two.

Maan merely likes the idea of getting married to the woman who is already fallen for him, which when he states later - the fact that she is attracted to him - is rejected by her. But despite the events, that follow, he does fall for her. In summary, I wanted to clarify that interms of attraction, Geet has always known what she has for him.

H, Agree with you. That comment was contextual (and may be worded incorrectly 😛 ). What I meant was that she has started feeling his desperation... She may have always loved him, but acknowledging it to herself is another thing all together. She knew she liked to be around him, but had not realized that she will miss not being around him..She had never realized that when he was not around, he is all she would be thinking about... Laden with guilt, anger and a lot of other factors, and knowing the fact that he liked her, she had almost taken him for granted. Now, his reactions are making her realize what he must have been going through all along...

I almost feel certain that she is already on her way home and that is her reason for rejecting Maan's offer to go home with him 😃

So well said...

Maan has made efforts to "express" himself and his intentions well to her...he has understood her situation and given her space - part of it kinda expected from the profession he comes from..

She's been a very slow starter...she has spend time trying to realise, bother, pine (and all other words for testing her feeling while subconsciously longing for him) all the while not thinking about whats he's going through - taking him for granted.

That she was aware that she wouldnt be able to make a choice until she was given an ultimatum has been mentioned in the story..

Maan has decided not to make the same mistakes she's done...now waiting for Geet's final step..

I am not saying that I don't like this Maan, he has a lot going for him absolutely and the way he held on to that bangle, haiii.
Just saying that I can identify and empathize with Geet more. The confused person who is afraid to come out with her feelings yet brave enough to take on a challenge for her sister, the loyal one, I like her more. Plus she has no mom to turn to which is so necc in such stages in life.
Please continue soon Hasini.

I have been meaning to edit and review the writing since last night, but I'm unable to focus. So do overlook typos and sentence constructs.

And I want to thank all you folks who have time and again stood by my ramblings. THANK YOU! Trust me when I say I value you all your opinions, thoughts and feedback.

It's only the FF that is ended. I'm still around, gurls, so don't hesitate to drop a word or two on the thread.
