Karan Sharma, who is currently seen in Ekk Nayi Pehchan, judged the street plays at St. Xavier's Malhar festival recently.
About his experience as a judge, the actor said, "I had a fabulous time judging the Street Play Malhar along with Samir Soni and Love Sex Aur Dhokha actor Anshuman Jha. It was a learning experience as I got to know about NREGA (National Rural Employment Guarantee Act) and Army Act, 1950. The participants also showcased the advantages of RTI (Right to Information) and RTE (Right to Education)."
Karan and Samir were shocked when they saw the act performed by Darsheel Safary's team. "I was surprised to know how beggars were made to disappear from Delhi's streets during Commonwealth Games in 2010. Also, I was not aware about 'The Bombay Prevention of Begging Act, 1959', which criminalises begging and has aimed to remove beggars from their current illegal profession," said Karan.
