Nikhil found out he had a dying son. He had to undergo an operation for his son that could take away his life, so he made Ananya hate him. So she wouldn't feel any pain if he went away. Nikhil-Ananya divorced. Nikhil went through the operation, and nothing more was seen of his son.
Ananya is now in charge of Nikhil's company. Nikhil is still in the hospital, only half-recovered. A famous doctor, Dr. Dhruv Mehra, is in charge of Nikhil's health. The same famous Dr. Dhruv Mehra met Ananya through a series of random meetings and fell in love with her. Ananya still loves Nikhil, though.
When Dr. Dhruv's mom found out that her son was in love with a divorcee, she couldn't stand it. She called her niece, Laila, to help break Dr. Dhruv's love for Ananya. Laila is pretending to break them up, but secretly, she wants to unite Dr. Dhruv and Ananya, so Nikhil can finally be all hers.
