I want to enjoy motherhood: Sai Deodhar
Busy with 'Ek Ladki Anjani Si', Sai Deodhar believes that this special phase in her life can wait
Playing the new Ananya, after Kanchi Kaul's exit in 'Ek Ladki Anjani Si' (Sony), you seem to be doing well.
I thank God for this. When I was approached for the role the show was in a crisis and it was going to wrap up within two months. I accepted the role as it was interesting. But I kept praying to God to help me do my best. I didn't want people to think that the show went off air because I didn't perform well. Obviously, people didn't know that the show anyways was scheduled to wrap up. Since then it's been nine months and the show is doing extremely well!
Were you apprehensive about replacing the popular Kanchi?
I too was quite well-known. People knew that I could act. I wasn't nervous about replacing Kanchi at all. Though, making people accept another face was a big responsibility.
Is it fun to have your husband Shakti Anand as your co-star?
Shakti has been my co-star long before he became my husband. Working together is not new to us. We are extremely professional. If a stranger were to visit the sets he wouldn't even know that we are married. But it helps when while doing a scene together we see to it that both of us give our best. That culminates into a good shot.
Are you a possessive wife?
No, I feel proud that people like him. He is a good actor and a great-looking guy. There are many women who come and tell me that they would love to have a son like him.
Why aren't you taking up more work?
I am content with 'Ek Ladki…' Honestly, a daily soap doesn't let you take up anything else. It consumes all my time and energy.
Are you planning to start a family?
Not yet. I want to enjoy motherhood. I don't want to rush into it. It is unfair if parents cannot give time to their baby.
