They don't even know what is going on.

Guys Nik had Cancer when he was married to TUlika...that's why he can't have kids anymore...that's why he wanted to find Anu since she was artifically insemenated at the hospital and was abt to have Nik's Only child..so this thing with Sonam must have happened before the cancer since Sonam says she had a kid with nik.
