Is Sharavan being passive aggressive?

If you look at the character growth of Shravan and Suman, it's obvious that Suman is still the same happy-go-lucky, full of life, zindadil character: the traits which were displayed by her teenage self as well. But Shravan was a goofy geek as a teen, almost idolized, and was in awe of Suman's bizarre ways of getting things done. 10 years hence, he's become more laid back, suave, seems to be harboring some feelings towards Suman, and yet behaves as if he really doesn't care about her existence. What must have Suman done to unintentionally mislead or disappoint(?) him so much so that Shravan is not bitter towards her but is exhibiting nonchalance?

That is a very well put post. I am gonna out on a limb and say that she has done something very very very major, which has broken his heart. Maybe he told her he loved her when they were teenagers, but she slapped him in front of everyone and insulted him??. I am just guessing.

I really wonder what went wrong. As you said it correctly that suman is still old suman but shravan has changed. N suman thinks she ll manage him n say sorry and everything will be all right. Maybe to suman it was not that imp thing but as he was hurt she wants to make it up but for shravan it was something drastic which changed her life. I really dont think love proposal but something more major.

Maybe she was asked to play a prank on him by her friends in front of everyone and instead of valuing his friendship she agreed to it so her reputation of being popular wouldn't get spoiled and made fun of him and humiliated him in front of everyone.
It was a betrayal for him bcos he had kept her in high regard and what hurt him the most was that she didn't value their friendship at all.

But I don't think this would have happened. I think there must have been something personal bcos Shravan's father is well known lawyer if something like this would have happened then m sure he would have come to know and the relationship between two families must have soured.

I think he may have confessed his feelings and she must have made fun of him that he is not even good looking and he is geeky and she will never spoil her reputation and how he is only worth to be a friend in hiding and nothing else.
So now 10 years later he is still cold towards her and maybe still trying to prove that he doesn't feel anything towards her and maybe getting a fiance is also his way of proving that he has moved on..

The nonchalance is an act. The moment his cousin said her name his whole expression changed. He remembers every little thing about her and his association with her I am sure. But feigning ignorance is his way of even pretending to himself that he no longer cares.

I will go out on a limb and say, the reason he didnt come back to India in so many years was mostly due to her. I think he had a big crush on her as a teenager and maybe even loved her. Today that feeling has only festered and grown in the background while he pretended it doesn't mean anything anymore. But it definitely does.

I think Suman did something really big. We can see that she had the "Devil may care" type attitude and she may have gone too far one day. Something she did deeply hurt him and he cut her loose from his life and never looked back. That is only possible if someone breaks your heart or hurts you in a really bad way. Whatever it was, it was big, and he is going out of his way to punish her for it. (Hence the coming late to lunch, and pretending to forget her etc).

I just cant WAIT to know what she did, and see how they mend their relationship. After a very long time I am SO excited to see the next episode of a show! Great thought provoking post BTW! Maybe finally I have seen a couple that will inspire me to write an FF again!

Word, to everything you said. Looking at their childhood, one can see how much he was fond of her and adored her. So it's pretty obvious that his so called cold behavior and indifference toward her is just a facade. I too feel the same, more than Sumo he wants to assure himself that she doesn't affect him anymore. I too feel Suman has done something really big and reckless which made the poor guy leave the country and has changed his perspective of life, completely. It's like once bitten, twice shy. Now he's hurt and mostly scared to put himself out there, to bare himself before her again.

Hi guys! Thanks for your replies. I also feel that Suman must have done something which pissed Shravan off but it may not have been such a big deal for her from her PoV. She does come across as unintentionally abrasive towards Shravan's feelings but she always means well which is exactly why she feels clueless as to why Shravan's deliberately ignoring her whilst remembering every other minutiae of the times spent with her during their childhood. I also hope they unfold the reason soon, and yes, I can't wait for the story to kick in full glory!

As far as him being nonchalant, I believe it is just an act. He does still like her, or maybe even love her. But he will never, ever, ever express anything in regards to her because she hurt him. It has to be very bad in order for him to feign nonchalance.

I think his heart skipped a beat when she called him out as he was going up the stairs to visit Nanaji. Hopefully Suman can see the truth behind his attitude. 😊
