„that you're 'sarvagun sampanna' is actually nothing more than an illusion...a 'bhram'.

loved how you brought up the shows title - very apt.

I am sure the further parts will be as awesome as these. Continue soon

Here's Part 8 for you to enjoy! <3 Thank you to everyone who has loved and supported this fan fiction! It means so much to me! <3

Part 8

Cold droplets of rain fell from the black sheath of the night sky. Even the slick, wet pavement couldn't stop her. Her heart pounded in her chest and she felt a cold sweat trickle down her forehead as she ran. She didn't know how long she had been running. But if she stopped, she knew she would never rise again. Her legs screamed in pain, as if pleading for her to put them out of their misery. It took every inch of her composure to continue. He was behind her. And he was getting closer. So close that she could hear his footsteps pounding against the ground at her heels.

"How far will you run, princess?" he snickered. How was it possible? Pooja wondered. They had been running for what seemed like hours. Any moment, she knew she would fall limp to the ground. But he barely seemed out of breath. "Stop running from me," he warned. Gasping for another breath of air, she sneaked a quick backward glance at her perpetrator. But he was gone. How could that be?! She felt a tear trickle down her eyes. Would this cat and mouse chase never end?! At this point, it seemed as if even if she tried, she wouldn't be able to stop her legs from running. She had to get away. She turned back around, preparing to continue her escape, but was quickly intercepted by the man. He was entirely covered in black and a black hood covered his hair and face. In his right hand, he held a butcher's knife that seemed to glisten with malice in the soft glow of the moonlight. She couldn't help it - she let out a blood-curdling scream. Those red eyes. She would recognize them anywhere. Dhruv. His smile was sinister, as if he was not a man, but rather a predator who had finally captured his prey. He took a step towards her, his fingers wrapping tighter around the knife. Smirking, he pushed back a strand of wet hair that had stuck to her face. "No matter where you run, you will always find me standing in your path." He murmured. And saying so, he raised the knife above his head, and went for his kill.

"NO!" Pooja woke up drenched in sweat on her four-poster bed. Her heart was racing and her entire body was trembling. She clasped the bed sheets beside her, trying to soften the sound of her inconsolable sobs. It was the same dream. For the 3rd night in a row, it was the same dream. Every time she closed her eyes, she saw only Dhruv. The sinister smirk. The knife he held in his hands, ready to attack. And those eyes. Those red, unforgiving, crazed eyes. She shuddered, feeling herself grow numb. She reached for the lamp at her bedside table and allowed herself to bask, for a few moments, in the orange glow of the light. Would this never end? Would this never be over? She had lived half her life in hatred of PK Mittal and would likely live the next half of her life in fear of Dhruv.

After the incident in the attic, Kabir had insisted that they contact the police. He realized that Dhruv had committed a crime and deserved to receive punishment. Surprisingly, it was Pooja who had been against the idea. She had recalled Kabir's words about imperfection and the need to forgive. If Dhruv was trying to forgive Pooja for her deception towards him, then wasn't it her responsibility to forgive Dhruv for what he had put them all through that night? She had stated forthright that she was in no way interested in contacting the police. And then, looking at Dhruv, she had mentioned simply that she would prefer to never see or hear from him again. Though she had seen that familiar flicker of pain in his eyes, he hadn't spoken a word to her. It was instead Kabir who had given her a look of gratitude as he walked his brother out of Pooja's home. Maybe it was Dhruv's silence that disturbed her. Or perhaps it was the fact that she had never lived a day in peace and was therefore not used to such normalcy, but she still had nightmares of Dhruv. Of that night in the attic. And it was always the same dream. Dhruv was coming to kill her. She shuddered. "No matter where you run, you will always find me standing in your path."

Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of her bedroom door creaking open. It was Amma. She had heard of the whole incident and had returned as soon as possible from Delhi, cancelling the deal as well as the meetings that she, along with Chopra were supposed to attend. "Pooja beta," she called, rushing over to Pooja's bedside. She quickly enveloped her daughter in a tight hug, allowing her tears to flow. Pooja sobbed uncontrollably and Amma simply sat on Pooja's bed, rocking her back and forth as if she was a child. "Shhh, it's okay bacha...you're okay." She said soothingly. "I'm here. I won't let anything happen to you. I won't leave you. You're okay."

It was over ten minutes before Pooja was calm enough to speak. "Was it the same dream?" Amma asked quietly, already knowing the answer. Pooja nodded. "What's wrong with me Amma? Why can't I get it out of my head?" A tear rolled down her eyes. "I just want to be at peace. That's all I want, Amma. My heart, my mind...they're screaming and begging for peace. But just as I'm about to reach a droplet of happiness, someone snatches it away from me." She sobbed. "Why me Amma? Why me?" Amma felt her own heart pierce at her daughter's innocent questions. "Am I so bad that I don't deserve to be happy?"

Amma simply took her in her arms and hugged her. "You will be happy Pooja. We will get over this. I promise you. You've seen a lot in your life, Pooja, and what you went through three days ago...that's not easy. It's not easy to recover from something like that." She raised her daughter's face so that her eyes could meet Pooja's. "But you know what I also know Pooja?" She paused. Pooja sniffled. "I know that you're a fighter. You're stronger than anyone I have ever known and I am so proud to call you MY daughter. You WILL get through this. And with each step you take, you will find me standing by your side, supporting you."

"And me too," came a voice from the doorway. It was Rani. She approached Pooja's bed. "Di, I love you more than anything in the entire world. You ARE my entire world. My Di is my hero." She neared Pooja, giving her a light kiss on the forehead and wiping her tears. "And haven't you watched enough Bollywood movies to know that the hero ALWAYS wins in the end?" This induced a laugh from Pooja. All three smiled. In this big world, they had somehow found each other. And at that moment, there was nothing more that any of them could ask for. Rani walked around to the other side of the bed and slid in beside Pooja. She rested her head on Pooja's shoulder and wrapped her arms around her sister. "Amma, I'll sleep with Di tonight. And we will be absolutely fine." Amma smiled. She couldn't understand how she had gotten lucky enough to be called the mother of these two beautiful young women. Nodding, she lifted the blanket and tucked both girls in. She switched off the lights and silently walked out the door, already hearing their steady and even breathing as she exited.

*********

Pooja hadn't been at work for three days. Three. days. Every minute of those three days had felt like an eternity for Kabir. There was so much left for them to talk about. The morning after the incident, Kabir had been hesitant to go to work. He didn't know how he could possibly face Pooja after everything that had happened and it had taken nearly an hour for him to muster the courage to reach the industry. But to his dismay, he was immediately told by the receptionist that Pooja hadn't arrived. He had spent the entire day, distracted and unable to work. He had tripped over boxes, labelled boxes incorrectly, and could barely function after 3 cups of coffee.

For some reason, his eyes remained perpetually glued to the door of Pooja's cabin. But she hadn't come. Not that day. Not the next. And not even the day after that. And now Kabir was getting worried. Currently, he was inside Pooja's cabin, pacing back and forth. Why isn't she coming into the factory? What could she be doing at home?! Is she okay?! He had even approached his arch nemesis, Chopra, in an attempt to find out more about Pooja. But Chopra had simply replied that he wasn't her watchdog and to go and focus on his own work. I'll go to her house today after work, Kabir decided internally. And the thought brought some comfort to him. Whatever was going through her mind, he would know about it soon. In exactly 7 hours.

But thankfully, destiny didn't torture Kabir with such a long wait, for, the next moment, she came walking in wearing a simple yellow salwar kameez with her Amma by her side. She was simply dressed and her hair was let loose and held by a white hair band. She smiled at the receptionist and offered a formal greeting to Chopra as she made her way into the her Cabin. Strangely, Kabir's heart fluttered. It felt as if a thirsty man in a desert had finally found water. Though she had arrived, Kabir could sense that she wasn't alright. Her eyes looked tired, as if she hadn't slept properly. And she seemed to have lost weight. The bright glow on her face had dimmed to some extent. She looked lifeless.

She and her Amma entered the cabin and her eyes immediately widened in surprise upon noting Kabir. "Kabir?" She questioned softly. "What are you doing in my cabin? Did you need something?" The anger and sarcasm he was so used to hearing in her voice had been replaced by something else. A softness he wasn't accustomed to. He cleared his throat, feeling a surge of anger overcome him. "Where the hell have you BEEN Pooja? You haven't been here for three days! THREE WHOLE DAYS! What were you thinking?! Do you know how worried I've been?!"

Amma exchanged glances from Pooja to Kabir. She was as shocked as her daughter was. Worried?! Pooja shook her head feeling confused. "Kabir...I was just taking a few days off. Besides, I thought you told Chopra ji a few days ago that I wouldn't be coming in? I thought it was all taken care of!" She said, still surprised by Kabir's reaction. Realizing his mistake, Kabir quickly caught himself. "Er, yes. Exactly. I mean. I know I told Chopra. And everything is technically taken care of, but you're the boss Pooja. It doesn't look nice for the boss of a company to just not show up to work without any notice." Pooja was silent and gazed at him curiously. Before she could speak, Chopra entered the Cabin. "Excuse me Pooja ma'am. There has been a few updates that I think you should know about within the past three days." His eyes flew from Pooja to Kabir. "Is this a good time to talk?"

Still eyeing Kabir, she gave Chopra a slow nod. Chopra walked towards her, holding out a file. "Ma'am, we have a few clients in Canada. They're interested in our fashion line and want to finalize a deal with us. They want to meet us this coming Monday. I think it would be best if you made a trip to Canada." She smiled, her eyes lighting up with excitement. "Canadian clients?! That's excellent Chopra Ji! But..." She hesitated, biting her lip. "I don't know if it's best for me to go." On some level, Pooja didn't think she was at the right emotional or mental state to be able to make a trip to Canada and interact with clients. She was about to deny Chopra's request when Amma's hand clasped her shoulder.

"Pooja, I think this is an excellent idea. I think a change of scene would do you well." She murmured. "Going to Canada will be both a work trip and a vacation. Go for it beta." Amma advised. Pooja looked at her mother, questioningly.

"I'll go with her," Kabir suddenly added. Amma and Pooja both looked at him, astonished. "I think it would be best if a worker from the company also went with Pooja. Since we workers know more about the specifics of our clothing line and how we manufacture it." Kabir rephrased. Chopra gave him a scowl. "Might I remind you that you're not the only worker in the company. We have hundreds of others and any of those workers would be equally capable in attending this meeting with Pooja ji. In fact, I think it's best if I go with her. After all, I'm the one who handles you lazy oafs," Chopra scoffed. Before Chopra could speak further, Amma raised her hand to stop him.

"No. If Pooja goes, then Kabir goes with her. Or neither of them will go."

"But-" Chopra sputtered. But Amma wasn't willing to listen. "Chopra ji. My decision is final. It's simple. If Pooja goes, then Kabir goes with her. And besides, you have such an important job here after all! If you don't look after these...as you put it...'lazy oafs', then who will?!" Amma smirked. "The entire company is depending on you in the absence of Pooja and Kabir, Chopra ji. I certainly hope you won't disappoint." At this, Chopra straightened, suddenly feeling a sense of pride overcome him. "Of course madame. You're right. I won't give you any reason to complain. Shall I book the tickets for you and Kabir, Pooja Ma'am?"

Pooja turned to Amma, stunned by her sudden desire for Kabir to accompany Pooja in the company meeting. Upon receiving a reassuring smile from Amma, she turned back to Chopra and gave him a curt nod. "Yes. Make all the necessary arrangements." And then, eyes flickering to Kabir, she added, "We leave Friday evening."
