Part 5

"Oh...Mrityunjay..." She was remembering her days after Mrityunjay came to her house seeking her hand for marriage.

She was the one who opened the door for him and his family on that day. She was first shocked to see him at her doorstep and stood there like a stone statue for fifteen seconds but was quickly brought back to present when her mom called.

"Tara, who is at the door?"

"Mom, it's Mrityunjay and his parents." She welcomed them in and went in to bring water.
Tara was familiar with his family as she had visited his home many times in the last days of college.

After thirty minutes when all formalities were complete, Mrityunjay's dad said, "Mrs. Shukla, we are here to ask you for a favour."
Tara's mom became a little serious hearing this as what kind of favour she could do.
His dad continued, "We are thinking to get Mrityunjay married..."

Tara completed the rest of the sentence without hearing him in her mind feeling a little offended, "Can you please suggest a girl?" But to her surprise, his dad said something else.

He said, "Can you give us the pleasure of marrying him to Tara?"

Tara looked at them with no expression on her face; her mind was initially confused about what she heard just now.

Then Mrityunjay's mother came to her seeing her blank and asked, "Will you be my daughter-in-law?"

Tara came back to her senses and looked at her mom who was sitting in front of her.

Mrityunjay's mom continued, "When we asked Mrityunjay for marriage and whether there is any girl who he thinks would be suitable for him, he suggested your name first."

Tara who was looking at her mom, quickly switched her view to Mrityunjay, he was looking at her with a slight smile on his face. Seeing him watching her, Tara lowered her eyes and smiled.

Her heart raced very fast. "Oh my God!!!" she exclaimed in her heart.
"He wants to marry me!!! Me!!! Me!!!"
To make herself believe this, she pinched herself and yes it was real, he wanted to marry her. Tara nodded her head in yes.

After two days, a small engagement function was held in a nearby temple. After the engagement, Tara finally believed it was not a dream that she was going to marry her love and stopped pinching herself. She finally thought to write and post a letter to him expressing her happiness. But even after getting engaged, her third letter to him remained unposted as she thought it to be an act of foolishness to write letters when you have many instant messaging apps on the phone to say what you want to say. But as she believed that the beauty that letters contain are never there in instant messaging so she wrote but never posted them.

She remembered their long talks at on the phone and a tear once again trickled from her eye when the radio played

Toota sa pal ek haath mein reh gaya

She switched off the radio as this song was hurting her even more.

"Tara!!!" Mrityunjay said picking up her letters. "I am coming." And he left to bring back the love of his life.

While driving to her home, he remembered her first day in college when she was sitting alone on the bench and he introduced himself to her and then remembered how from that moment Tara loved him. He checked his face in the mirror to see whether there was anything special on his face for which Tara loved him and found nothing special.

"Oh... I was the one who asked her to join us in the lunch break. It was not Yug. Yug later joined me to ask her. What a fool I am that I forgot it was me in all the places in her letters." He smiled murmuring this.

After driving for one hour, he stopped at a gas station to refuel the car. While the car was standing in the small queue waiting for its turn, Mrityunjay started reading the letters from the beginning. He was now reading it like a lover boy receiving a letter from his girlfriend. He was remembering and cherishing all the sweet moments written in the letter.

"Oh... Tara... I wanted to congratulate you first after winning the singing competition but I was surrounded by other friends and so..." He was interrupted by the service station attendant to move ahead for his turn.

He resumed his journey to meet his love. His heart was filled with love for her which was more than ever, as it makes you feel more special to know you were the only person who your loved one always loved and that too since years without your knowledge.

~Mila hoon jab se tumse hai dil ko mere kasam se
sukoon mila, sukoon mila
Tujhe hai paya rab se hai dil ko mere kasam se
sukoon mila, sukoon mila
Har pal haseen sa hua hai saason ko tune chua hai

He smiled hearing this song and kissed the letters kept in front of him. When Tara's home was half an hour away, his car got a flat tyre and to his luck, the puncture repair shop was just five minutes away. While the tyre was being repaired, Mrityunjay took the second letter and started reading it.

"Tara, I never understood you hummed all those songs for me!!!! How could I understand? You always hummed one song or the other without any reason. And our first hug!!! That day..." He smiled and continued his journey towards Tara's house.

Tara was becoming sadder with the approaching sunset as the whole day had gone and Mrityunjay had not even called a single time, which was not like him.

After their engagement, he used to call nearly ten times a day and after their wedding nearly five times as Tara had told him to reduce the calls. But not a single call today!

She was sitting on her bed, resting her back on the headboard and facing away from the door, when a pair of hands covered her teary eyes. Tara touched those hands and remembered who it was. It was her Mrityunjay. Finding Mrityunjay there, her heart soared and her eyes let go of the tears which she had held back since morning remembering him.

~Woh dil hi kya tere milne ki jo dua na kare
Main tujhko bhool ke zinda rahoon khuda na kare
Rahega saath tera pyaar zindagi bankar
Yeh aur baat meri zindagi wafa na kare

Yeh theek hai nahi marta koi judaai mein
Khuda kisi se kisi ko magar juda na kare
Suna hai usko mohabbat duayein deti hai
Jo dil pe chot to khaye magar gila na kare

Zamana dekh chuka hai parakh chuka hai use
Qateel jaan se jaaye par iltaza na kare~

Mrityunjay read these lines to express his love for her but hearing them Tara chuckled and removed his hands from her eyes.

She said, "From which book have you read them? I know you don't have any interest in such things."

"You know me so well Tara," he said wiping her face which was covered with tears.

"We are one, not two," she said taking his hands in hers.

He then removed something from his pocket, and handing them over to Tara said, "Tara, your letters..."

Tara was little-confused thinking about what letters he was talking about but when she opened the first letter, she realized these were her letters to him. She stood up from the bed feeling embarrassed about what he must be thinking about her.

"I... I..." She wanted to clarify her act.

Mrityunjay held her hand and made her sit beside him on the bed and said, "Tara, let me speak. When I was in college, you were the first girl who attracted me."

Tara's wet eyes smiled hearing these words.

"Remember our first hug after winning the competition? I wanted to say so many things but I thought I might lose my friend if I followed my heart so I..." he chuckled.

"After that, I tried to make less eye contact with you as I thought your eyes would read my condition. So whenever our eyes met by any chance, I just smiled."

Tara was quietly looking at him, remembering all her assumptions that she made about his feelings and they were right.

He then removed a rose from his shirt's pocket and said, "Tara, I love you."

She hugged him and he hugged her back. This time the hug was quite tight as it was a hug after separation, they didn't want to be separated again.

"Thank you God, for giving me Mrityunjay. And thanks to myself for not posting these letters, otherwise how could I have seen his agony, his love?" Tara smiled thinking this.

And they lived happily ever after.

Tara is remembering how Mrityunjay had come to her house with the proposal!!!!

So this story end with year end...

Thank god duffer mj ko realise ho Gaya that Tara loved him all the way.

Now he is joining all words & happening.

Here Tara was remembering her Marriage & weeping.

Tara is super happy how mj comes to her for Marriage & used to calls her twenty times ...

Now he doesn't make a single call.

So now rushed to meet her & remembering all moments.

He came & Tara smiled .

Now he is admitting that he also loved her.

It was great journey through this story.
