Yes Kalki akka..example for friendship is Duryodhan Karna..

Some of the few points I loved reading on their friendship..i'll like to add here..

It is said that, Duryodhana never shed a single tear for any of his real brothers who were killed in the battlefield, but when his beloved friend Karna was slain, he was inconsolable. Duryodhana's hopes are finally shattered when Karna is felled by Arjuna.

Duryodhana's wife Bhanumathi and his close friend Karna were playing a game of dice. The stake between them was substantial. As the game progressed, it was evident that Karna was winning and Bhanumathi was losing. Karna could not suppress his delight. Just then Duryodhana entered his queen's chamber. Karna had his back to the door while Bhanumathi was facing it. Seeing her husband coming, she was about to stand up. As she was just rising, Karna, thinking that she was trying to get away from the embarrassment of certain defeat in the game, snatched at her drape, studded with pearls.

Tugged at by Karna's powerful hands, the thread snapped and all the pearls rolled on the floor. Queen Bhanumathi was stunned and did not know what to say or do. She was afraid that, for no fault of hers, she would be misunderstood by her husband because of Karna's offensive and insensitive behavior. Seeing her shocked state and sensing that something was wrong, Karna turned round and saw his friend Duryodhana. He was also deeply shocked and distressed beyond words. Here he was, in the royal chamber, playing a game of dice with his friend's wife and, as if this was not enough, he had the audacity to catch her clothes, thus embarrassing and endangering her chaste reputation. He stood dumbfounded and transfixed. Surely, Duryodhana would not tolerate such immodesty. He readied himself for the inevitable punishment.

As both she and Karna look down sheepishly, unable to meet Duryodhana's eyes, the Kaurava scion only asks:

"Should I just collect the beads, or string them as well."

Both Bhanumathi and Karna had misjudged him. He had implicit faith and great love for his queen and greater was his faith on his friend Karna. He does not suspect, does not get angry with Karna but helps him in picking up the pearls.

He seems to not care about the low birth of Karna and is the only one to vocally support Karna candidature in the archery contest without caring about caste inequality. When Kripa humiliated Karna in the martial exhibition, Duryodhana immediately defended Karna, and made him king of Anga. Karna pledges his allegiance and friendship to Duryodhana, as Duryodhana had rescued him from a source of continuing humiliation and hardship. Neither of them knows that Karna is in fact Kunti's oldest son, born to (sun god) Surya. When Draupadi refuses to allow Karna to string the bod at her Swayamvara because of his low birth, Duryodhana defends him saying "great sages, philosophers, and warriors have no source. They are made great, not born great".

Another incident, is when knowing Sahadeva's ability as an astrologer, Duryodhana asked him to fix Muhurtha time for commencement of war.

oh no i don't want to see that scene -even though heard it so many times still feel really sad to watch it - thank you so much for the info - love the story and i can read it or hear it millions times still love it
Karnan dying not going to watch it that day
you are right Duryodhana stand up for Karna not his real brothers - again his brothers never had country or authority to do anything themselves still it would have been good if at least one of them stand up for him

love it thank you - yes he trusted his friend - we need to salute to this part - why they don't show in this show about Duryo personal life - all they show is his greedness and cruelty

love this sentence and he is 100% right

Yes Hema - This is the truth da as per the original story. At the end when he dies in Adharma way
(Yes Krishna has to trick him to be killed -
1. By asking Kunti to request only Arjuna he fights with
2. Sending Indra in disguise to get his kavasa kundalams
3. Also durign war Krishna does something I think pushes the Chariot down or some thing to protect Arjuna?

Karna asks Krishna why and Krishna replies that he was also part of the Sabha where they humiliated Darupadi and he supported that. That is why he is getting the punishment now.

Yes akka..read this portions ..heart wrenching ones..

Following failed peace negotiations with Duryodhana, Krishna is driven back to the Pandavas by Karna. Krishna then revealed to Karna that he is the eldest son of Kunti, and therefore, technically, the eldest Pandava. Krishna implored him to change sides and assures him that Yudhisthira would give the crown of Indraprastha to him. Shaken from the discovery, Karna still refuses this offer over Duryodhana's friendship. Krishna is saddened, but appreciating Karna's sense of loyalty, accepted his decision, promising Karna that his lineage would remain a secret. In addition, Karna was elated to learn that his true father was none other than Surya.[6]

Indra, the king of the (Devas) and the father of Arjuna, realized that Karna would be invincible in battle and unable to be killed as long as he had his kavach and kundal. He approaches Karna as a poor Brahmin during Karna's sun-worship. Surya warned Karna of Indra's intentions, but Karna thanked Surya and explained that he was bound by his word and could not send anyone from his door empty-handed. When Indra approaches, Karna reveals that he knew the Brahmin's true identity but assured that he would never turn anyone away. Cutting the armor and earrings off his body, Karna handed them to Indra. For Karna's generosity Indra decided to reward him and Karna asked for Indra's powerful weapon, the Vasavi shakti. Indra granted the boon, with the stipulation that Karna could only use the weapon once.

As war approached, Kunti met Karna and in desperation to keep her children alive asked Karna to join the Pandavas. But Karna denies the offer again. Knowing that Arjuna was under the divine aegis of Krishna he would be invincible. Karna requested his mother to keep their relationship a secret and promised that at the end of war she would still have five sons.

As promised to Kunti, Karna aimed on only killing Arjuna. On the sixteenth day, he fought with all the Pandava brother but Arjuna and spared each one of them. After defeating them, he ordered his charioteer Shalya to get towards Arjuna. He used Nagastra to kill Arjuna, which Krishna saved him by lowering his chariot in the earth. Karna and Arjun waged a rough war against each other. Karna had a chance to kill Arjuna but spared him as the sun was about to set.

On the seventeenth day, Karna and Arjuna resumed their war where Karna cut the string of Arjuna's bow many a times. After the long struggle, with no one winning, the situation changed when Karna's chariot wheel sank into the loose ground. He still defended himself but also forgot all the incantations at the crucial moment, as was cursed by Parshurama. Karna got down from his chariot to free the wheel and asked Arjuna to pause reminding him of etiquettes. But Krishna in turn reminded Arjuna of all the rules that Kauravas and Karna had broken in the war and before. Enraged with recollection of all the incidences, of Abhimanyu's death, laksha-griha conspiracy, Draupadi's insult; Arjuna used the Anjalika weapon slaying Karna at the end.

As Karna lay dying on the battlefield, his father Surya and Arjuna's father Indra fell into a debate as to who among their son's was superior and decided to test Karna's generosity and appeared before him as Brahmins asking for alms. Karna said that at this point he had nothing to give them while one of the Brahmins remark that he has some gold in his teeth which could be of use to them. Karna on realizing this promptly took a stone and broke his teeth handing them over to the Brahmins and thus proving his superiority.[8] In other versions of the epic, the Brahmin is said to be Krishna who asks for Karna's punya or merit and when Karna does so he is rewarded by sighting of Krishna's Vishwaroopa.

Following the end of the war, Tarpan vidhi were performed for all the fallen. Kunti then requested her sons to perform the rites for Karna and revealed the truth of his birth. The brothers were shocked to find that they had committed fratricide. Yudhishtira, in particular, was furious with his mother and laid a curse upon all women that they should never thereafter be able to keep a secret.[citation needed]

Here posting an article ..hope i am not boring you all..😳 as each character has touched me in some ways...❤️

Karna - After the end.

It is said that during the war, Duryodhana lost 99 of his brothers and though he grieved for their death, it was only the loss of Karna which hit Duryodhana really bad. Once Karna was killed, Duryodhana lost all the will to fight. Duryodhana no longer even wanted the kingdom...After Karna's death, the only reason Duryodhana continued the war was because he was wanted to get it all over with. Probably he also wanted to die in the very same battlefield that also claimed his friend. Thus for all practical purposes, the war was really over after the death of the king of Anga.
Fulfilling his promise to Karna, Shalya led the Kaurava army the next day. The last day of battle was a lackluster affair. Yudhishtara killed Shalya in the afternoon and the Kaurava army was routed. Duryodhana who had the capacity to hold his breath for a long time, got away from the battlefield and stayed inside a lake, probably because he wanted nothing to do with the world where Karna was not there.
The Pandavas found Duryodhana and challenged him to a one on one fight. Yudhishtara in a burst of foolishness allowed Duryodhana to choose any one of the Pandavas as an opponent and also suggested that the winner could walk away with the kingdom.
For winning the war, all Duryodhana needed to do was to choose one of the Pandavas other than Bhima as his opponent and he would have won the battle, hands down...
But a man who fought a huge and gory war all for the sake of his arrogance was obviously very proud. Duryodhana chose Bhima as his final opponent.
Bhima all but lost the fight. Duryodhana was already a better fighter than Bhima and now he also had a special boon from his mother which made his body hard and impervious to any injuries. It was only because of some quick thinking by Krishna and some illegal move by Bhima that he won the fight.
The Pandavas won the war but at a terrible price. Only three people from the Kaurava army survived the last day of the war - Ashwattama, Kripacharya and Kritivarman. And Ashwattama unable to bear the grief of the death of his father, killed all the people from the Pandava army when they were asleep...
So the only people who actually survived the war from the Pandava side was Krishna and five Pandavas whom Krishna had managed to take away to another place...
*************
Yudhishtara performed the last rites of the warriors slain in the war...He was surprised to see his mother stumble across the grounds. 'Mother! What are you doing here?'
'I...I just came to see whether the last rites of everyone was done!'
Yudhishtara looked surprised and nodded his head. 'I am not ungrateful, mother! These brave people have laid their lives for me! I have not forgotten anybody! I...'
'Yes you have!' The words were out of Kunti's mouth before she could even stop herself. Yudhishtara stopped talking unable to believe what he was hearing. He looked at his mother questioningly who was now looking at the Dark Lord.
Krishna looked at Kunti with a sad smile on his lips and slowly nodded his head. Kunti opened her mouth but still no words came out. Krishna came forward and held Kunti's shoulder. Kunti who suddenly looked feeble, closed her eyes and with the touch of Krishna's finger opened her eyes.
'You have forgotten Karna!' Kunti said slowly.
'Why on earth should I perform the last rites for Karna? He is the enemy! The one person whom I was genuinely...' Yudhishtara stopped suddenly looking at the expression on his mother's face.
'He is my son! He was born before I married your father!' Kunti said quietly.
Feeling the world go topsy turvy, Yudhishtara suddenly sat down unable to take in what was being said. He did not doubt, not even for a second, about what he had just heard...
'He is my brother!' Yudhishtara whispered a tiny tear trickled from his eyes. 'My elder brother!' Yudhishtara sat down holding his head in his hands. 'All he had to do was tell me! I would have given him everything! And I fought him!' Yudhishtara looked at his hands wishing he could do something to his hands, which he suddenly found offensive.
Yudhishtara was feeling detached as he saw Bhima look like he could not understand anything.
Bhima closed his eyes wishing he could forget that smile of Karna...That smile of Karna which Bhima always found so offensive...Bhima just wished he could forget everything...
Arjuna broke down sobbing. 'I KILLED MY BROTHER! I CAN NEVER BE FORGIVEN!' He screamed. He looked around as he suddenly saw images of Karna everywhere. The noble features of Karna, his pride, his beheading, his...
'Keshava! What do I do?' He said crying and unable to think straight.
Kunti made all her sons sit down and narrated everything. She even told them about how she had approached Karna to come to the side of the Pandavas. 'He said he was Duryodhana's friend and would never leave him...' Kunti said breaking out crying unable to bear it anymore.
'He knew!' Yudhishtara said with a broken heart. 'He knew about us...' Yudhishtara looked at Kunti with angry eyes. 'Is that the reason he spared all our lives?' Yudhishtara asked suddenly feeling disgusted with himself.
Kunti slowly nodded her head as she told about Karna's promise to kill only Arjuna...
Krishna shrugged looking at Kunti and the Pandavas. 'You all had each other! Through all your trials, you were still together!' Krishna shook his head. 'Karna has suffered much in his life and he had no one...not one person to share it with!'
Yudhishtara closed his eyes wishing he could just...'That is why I felt...like that in the dice game!' Yudhishtara muttered to himself.
Bhima looked at his elder brother enquiringly. 'I was feeling very disgusted with myself in the dice game!...But there...I saw Karna's feet and I was surprised...' Yudhishtara said speaking fast. 'Karna's feet looked exactly like mother's feet...' Yudhishtara shook his head rapidly. 'I could not explain it...Not even to myself...But looking at the feet calmed me down...Now I know why!'
Yudhishtara is a fit of anger looked at his mother. 'All this happened because you kept a secret! This war...the entire war would not have happened...' Yudhishtara chocked unable to continue. He finally looked at his mother. 'I curse all women! None of you would ever be able to keep a secret!'
********
Sage Narada came to the Pandavas and told them all about the curses of Karna. 'Parashurama's curse caused Karna to forget the mantra for the Brahmastra when he needed it the most at the battlefield...And the curse of the owner of the cow caused the chariot to be stuck in the soft mud and as cursed when he was helpless, Phalguni (Arjuna) killed him!' Narada said quietly.

***********
The war had taken a terrible toll and looking at the loss of life, Yudhishtara felt that he was committing a crime if he sat on the throne of Hastinapur now. But listening to the story of Karna, he realized that if one man all alone could endure so much and still achieve glory then it would be more easier for Yudhishtara with his four brothers to start afresh and give the ordinary people the peace that they so desperately were striving for.
Thinking about Karna, Yudhishtara ascended the throne of Hastinapur and ruled very well for 36 years and prosperity reigned in the kingdom for these years...

You are right Janu..OMG how much sadness that poor woman Draupadi must have suffered and only Lord Krishna saved her , all men are cowards and slaves and evils in my opinion ..This includes Pithama Bhishmar and Pandavas..

Though Karna was a good soul with unlimited generosity..this one incident of bad mouthing Draupadi put him down in all minds..he was unpardonable to himself through out his life ..

i didn't know this part - each day i am learning something - feel good
Kunthi should have told her husband about Karna or she could have raised him in her palace appointing some nanny no need to tell them that he is her son
she had so many chances but she didn't use them i blame her for all Karna's sorrows
her lie killed her son
please share more love to read 🤗
did Saguni die in the end or he didn't fight at all
