Raksha Bandhan is festival that celebrates the love and duty between brothers and sisters; the festival is also popularly used to celebrate any brother-sister like lovingprotective relationship between men and women who are relatives or biologically unrelated.It is calledRakhi Purnima, or simplyRakhi, in many parts of India Raksha Bandhan is celebrated in every corner and states of India with same enthusiasm. There is no state in India where Raksha Bandhan is not celebrated with pomp and show. In Maharashtra, this festival of Raksha Bandhan is celebrated as Narali Poornima . The fisherman community of Maharashtra Known as Kolis celebrate this festival as Narali Poornima. They offer prayers to Lord Varuna on the day of Raksha Bandhan (Narali Poornima). All the Marathi people are very much excited about the celebration of Narali Poornima (Raksha Bandhan).
