How did you bag the role in Main Teri Parchhain Hoon?
Actually I was doing CID when I got this offer. Initially, I was doing both the shows but later it became hectic to cope up so I decided just to go ahead with Main Teri… Though officially I'm still a part of CID show and when ever I get time, I do an episodic with them.
What attracted you to this role?
First and foremost it was my character Aanchal that attracted me towards this show and then the channel. NDTV Imagine has a Star Plus team which is fabulous to work with. What else a person can ask for?
How much do you identify with your role?
I identify with Aanchal a lot. Firstly she is my age and bubbly like me. There is nothing artificial about her. She is handling the responsibility of children by going out of her way. But to be frank enough it is not so possible for me. We have many similarities but at the end of the day the character shapes as per the story thus there are differences also.
Are you using this serial to make an entry into Rajshri films?
Not at all… Basically, I never thought that I would become an actress but destiny has something else for me. I remember I gave my first audition when I was doing my second year of BMM from Wilson College. I auditioned just for a lark but after two days I received a call from Balaji offering me Kavyanjali. This is how all the other serials followed and today I am here.
I never plan for the future. Definitely films will be there but I did not choose this serial to get noticed in the movies.
What are the other serials that you are doing?
Once you start playing a lead in the show it's very difficult to concentrate on another show. Initially I was getting offers to do other shows but I turned them down. Now I feel I should have at least looked more deeply into the offers. I don't regret but now I'm definitely open for other roles also.
What is your take on the saas-bahu serials?
Though I don't watch those shows but I have heard that they are good. Basically it's all a TRP game. We say that it is boring but there are many people who like to watch these shows. Personally, I have no issues with such kind of shows.
Which is your favourite show?
I like to watch Dil Mill Gaye on Star One. The characters of Dr. Armaan (Karan Singh Grover) and Dr. Riddhima (Shilpa) are the best and cute. I would love to essay such kind of characters.
Who is your favourite TV actor?
Ahh… now that's a very difficult question. I like so many actors for their unique style like somebody's eyes and expressions are good, someone's dialogue delivery is good, so its complex to say anything.
But still if I have to choose one then it would be Hussain. I like his character in Kumkum as Sumeet. He is an all- rounder and the best co-star to work with.
Do you have any interesting on-the-sets experience to share?
I remember one day we had to shoot a bus sequence where I had to hold the youngest child Sachin in my lap. As soon as I took him he slept on my lap. The director shouted action and it was shocking to see the little one sleeping in my lap. We had to wait for 4 to 5 hours for him to wake up.
Another incident I remember was with my co-stars Siddharth and Aman. On our way home after the shoot we decided to halt for dinner in a restaurant. Sid finished first with his dinner and then Aman. I was still eating and both of them were surprised to see me. Now whenever they meet somebody they caution them by saying that I eat a lot.
How is it working in a predominantly women oriented team?
It's definitely more comfortable with Kavitaji being the producer of the show. She is a perfectionist. Being a woman she explains small details which sometimes even a male director fails to understand. One feel energised to see so many women working and achieving their goals. It's kind of a blessing for me.
i guess most of the actors prefer watchin DMG only rather than saas bahu serials...😆keep rockin DMG!!!
btw one weird thot she wud have looked good with armaan as ridz...wudnt she ??!!😕 i find her really pretty...
