I had ordered a copy of Mayank's book the week he released it, but there were no copies here in Hyd... last week i finally managed to get the copy... and i read it..

basically like all of you already must be knowing, this is a book about, a girl names Sam(Sameera), is in an extra marital relationship with her colleague Jim(Jimesh)- and obviously that means he has a wife as well Maya..

what starts off as a sweet, bubbly exciting relationship, where she cant get enough of the guy at first, she writes about everything she has done with the guy, their firsts together, the joy of watching their first movie, of every song, and every actor reminding her of him, and their first holiday together, their moments, their thoughts on life and other issues, where she begins to believe they are soul mates, she even does past life regression classes where she see's him as her life partner in all those previous lives where they never actually got together.... their life is a dream...

and all of this falls apart when, she slowly starts realizing Jim is drifting away from her, she tries to get in touch with him but, he finds her too clingy, slowly there is no replies to texts, no phone calls, no meetings-and her world starts to change, and she cant fathom why....

the pain of realisation is harder for sam when she has to live with the fact that the guy has moved on, simply making an excuse that he cant do this any longer, since he really loves his life and she is a wonderful woman-all this while Sam is nothing but understanding, she has no one to turn to-she resorts to drinking and heavily smoking, taken off on drives all by herself... all the time hoping he would return her call....

and even if he does call for a minute, she springs with joy, but knows the joy is momentary.. she wishes well for him all the time, advicing him ( in her diary ofcourse) of what he should be making of his life and how much she really really misses him...

they finally meet at a mall where he is with his wife, and she realises he isnt happy himself, he writes to her after that, that, he has told him wife everything, but there is no way anything is going to work out, but he wants to make his marriage work...

she finally decides to forget him after all the pain... and get on with life...

thats 'Love from the Side Lines in a nutshell"

my views: its an easy read book, written in the form of conversations, that Sam has with the Diary that she thinks is Jim, there are alot of things that she perhaps cant say to this face, she resorts to the diary, but after a while, her diary is all she is left with and loads of memories in it....

throughout the book, i kept wondering how Mayank could get into the mind of a woman and feel exactly the way someone would feel when in a relationship- hats off to him for that...

the book is simple and honest, and it brings out Mayank's personality like a mirror....

lastly the acknowledgment:

he thanked the entire DMG team... ill write the relevant bits
among various others that he thanked .... he says... my thanks to ...

Dhrasti Dhami and Sunaina Gulia for putting up with my mood swings on the sets...

Ayaz khan for .. I'll just leave it at that...

Shraddha Nigam for talking to me when i really need to talk...

Karan Singh Grover for not talking to me when i really needed to talk...

Other than that he has thanked his driver and this guy called Parsuram who he calls his man-friday ( remember they used to use that name alot in the early DMG days)

Congrats Mayank on your book.... its been a pleasure reading it!!

love,
niha

I think he means that KSG listened to him he needed to talk, and he (KSG) didn't just keep talking. As in, when someone wants to talk, they want hte other person to shut up and listen to them, and that's what KSG did.

I could be wrong, but that's what I figured he meant.

But then, what does the line above it about Shrada mean? That she kept talking when Mayaank needed to talk? Don't think so ...
