All Party No Money - 31/3

I couldn't put up one yesterday. Some issue with IF I had. Anyways, Anu's birthday today. They are sitting somewhere eating some thing, couldn't see what, Disha and Aarav go to eat ice cream. Disha thinks about Anu fainting doesn't want to leave her alone. Anu is pleased with her maturity and says, now she can go and Disha will take care of herself. She says this was the best trip they had, it being her last one and Ram is upset again.

Some banter on whether Ram would remarry and Anu would remarry if need be. They show Kapoor. He is sitting and he gets some memory shown only in voices. He asks Anu, what she wants for her birthday. Anything she keeps her hand on, would be hers and she asks for Ram and he is very angry at what she chose.

The night of some dinner and everyone is getting ready. Anu starts coughing, goes to the bathroom and pukes blood. But she hides it from them. The restaurant is the place where Ram proposed to Anu and he does that again. She says yes. He says the party is on him, and everyone enjoys. Anu and Disha are apprehensive about the money but he shrugs them off.

The bill comes up to 40,000 bucks and these people are angry and worried. Somehow, he sends them back home. The waiter, asks whether cash or credit, and Ram says he will wash as many utensils as possible. They call the police and he explains he married her, they ran away, she has cancer. He wanted to keep her happy.

Meanwhile, Anu and Disha are worried what will happen.

Precap - They are shopping in the market. Anu coughs blood and faints. Ram fights with the doctor to come.

GO DOWN FOR TAKE!😉

My Take

Overall, I find the show moving more towards pointlessness and absurdity. Disha, showed a lot of maturity today, in the whole episode.

Initially, when Disha did not want to leave Anu alone, it was very, very mature and she showed she was capable of good thinking. Ram told her, they shouldn't fight. Typical sibling rivalry, well crafted.

Ram - Anu talk was funny and cute. It is nice how Anu is able to talk about her death in the manner she does, and Ram does not jump up in shock every time she does so. The talk about marrying someone else here, is probably an indication to what is to come, or it is just idle talk. Trust me; such idle talks happen all the time between couples. If they show it in that spirit, I am damn pleased.

In the evening, everyone is getting ready for dinner. Anu starts puking blood. The scene in the washroom when Anu cries is heart wrenching. I somehow really loved it, despite there being no dialogues at all. It showed us that she doesn't have much time left, and it also brought out Anu's desperation very well. No one wants to die right? Some of us face it bravely, others not so brave. But ultimately, no one wants to die.

But, she hides it from them, not wanting to create a scene there. At the restaurant, when Ram proposes to her again, Anu's face doesn't show happiness at all. She is worried, upset, more than anything, grieved that she is dying. Disha's character has been well placed today. She looking at the menu and saying dal is 500 bucks, it is too expensive, is very natural and well executed. Usually, TV shows show teenagers as people not bothering about anything and very immature but it is not so. They are not always like that. This was a perfect example.

Ram hosting the party for everyone is utter NONSENSE! He has no money at all! I perfectly agree, he wanted to celebrate her birthday where he proposed and all. But, hosting it for everyone there is plain stupid!

Here too, Anu and Disha come forward and expressed their concern over the matter. RAM CARELESSLY BRUSHED IT OFF. IT ISN'T EVEN LOGICAL!

I understand creative liberties can be taken but not to such an absurd extent. Ram drinks a little too much. He must be more responsible. What if Anu is taken ill suddenly? In his inebriated state, how will Disha manage alone?

I liked the indications between Disha and Ram to take Anu home. Cover up. xD

How can Ram say I'll wash utensils? How does he think the hotel will earn its money? Such huge hotels, have fixed labour whom they pay monthly not daily. So, supposing, Ram does wash utensils worth 40 K, the restaurant doesn't earn anything since they will still have to pay their workers for that day. Basic economics and financing. TV shows should do something about this concept of all emotions no sense they have.

Obviously, they will hit him and call the police and he explains his dilemma, his grievances to them, saying and convincing them he was helpless since he loves his wife. Odds, are they will take pity on him and leave him. It is a serial. But, honestly, such things don't work in real life. Understandably, you have a wife who is dying. No one else is responsible for that. People may express their sympathy, but beyond that, they won't do anything. They can't be expected to do anything! The restaurant did not plant cancerous cells in Anu's blood! They can't do anything.

Regarding Kapoor, I really like that track actually, much more than what they are showing here. That has slightly better logic. It showed he still loved his daughter and he is hurt at what she did. Poor guy.

That is it. Hopefully, today's faux pas won't be repeated. xD

You pretty much wrote down my thoughts, so there's nothing left to say!
But anyhow, I'm going to give some credit and say that yes I was pleased with how Ram, as an actor, acted drunk, like it was realistically done and it's not all easy to act drunk. He definitely portrayed that well. What bugs me is the fact that Anu told him a few times to stop with the drinking, Disha also had indicated a few times that the hotel was expensive, but even then, not only did he continue in the hotel, he also took responsibility for all the other customers's bill. That was absolutely ridiculous. I don't like the idea of Ram even being drunk, and after the ridiculous incident that took place today, that bugged me even more.

Also, like it's been mentioned, now that Anu's also dying, Ram needs to be more careful with finances. He has two children, one being Disha, who will soon probably go to college/university which does take up a lot of money. And the answer to that is obviously the fact that he will take up a loan, but then again, he has Aarav as well, and there will be many situations where he has to take up a loan. How many loans? He doesn't seem to be quite aware of the value of money, I realize he's doing it for his wife's happiness but if you think logically, it's his and his children's future that's going to be tough to deal with. At the end, I'm guessing he will ask Anu's father for money.

I feel that they need to show Ram's character this way to lay the foundation to show him hitting rock bottom after Anu's death. From what he says to the hotel owner and police in the last scene...We can see his grief and helplessness, even though he tries to be normal in front of Anu and keep her happy. Just guessing the future storyline based on media print, I think they are showing a man who can fall to the pits because he loses his Rock of Gibraltar and he was not able to save her. Perhaps her third wish is to let her go peacefully and he fulfils that but it haunts him with guilt, causing him to further slide down. Today's scene could just be Ram's desperate attempt to make his wife's last days happy and he isn't thinking of the consequences and this may come back to bite him when he's down after anu passes away. Of course, I'm not sure if the creatives have thought on these lines but I'm just guessing that they may be thinking this way.

We don't like our leads to have such flaws but I think they are going to show ram this way if they are planning to show him rise later on with support from his children. They did say that they would show the child becoming the parent at times...just guessing this is the daughter they are talking about.

Excellent acting by Ram (especially the emotional scene at the end), Gurdeep (the bathroom scene) and the kids (who thankfully behave like kids) and the father-in - law. Anu's dad is justified in feeling the way he does because as a parent one wants the best for one's child. Just wish he realises that he needs to let the bitterness go because soon it will be too late. Guess this will make Mr Kapoor even more bitter as he may blame ram for anu's death.

Hope the creatives keep it simple and engrossing. I don't mind a finite series where things don't drag and the story can be told in a good pace.

How soon is Anu going to die? Is Gurdeep's role a cameo or something? 😕 I don't understand what kind of a Dad they are showing Ram to be. I don't think someone should even have kids if they can't take up the responsibility. I feel so sorry for the kids. It is not their fault that Anu is dying. To punish them, is wrong.

Probably. Anyways, Ram usually acts really well when drunk. But such illogical things they show, zaps viewers' interest. I wanted them to show how a middle class family fights cancer realistically. Finance is something, extremely mismanaged in the show. I don't understand why we expect Anu's Dad to give him money! Why should he? It is Ram's responsibility to provide for the kids! FIL's responsibility ended with Anu! Still. I don't know where the show is going. They need to be back in Mumbai.
