1My Take
The first few minutes of the episode were amazing. They go around enjoying themselves. What I really liked was Ram dancing like a normal common man. Usually we come across characters who are amazing in everything, which is not realistic, but it was very real.
When Anu fainted, and people helped her out, Ram's acting was very natural. He thanked them for helping his wife, serials generally miss that part. Kudos to them for remembering such minute details.
The scene in Kapoor mansion indicated two things:
1. The family, everyone is against Anu. Even the sister particularly doesn't seem to love her. Manav overacts a little. I don't understand why he needs to get so worked up with Suraj even more than the Dad himself. I think there is something more to it. We may see, some angle later... He may have loved Anu himself? Possible. He had some enmity with Ram. Possible...
2. Suraj is a mystery to me. I still don't understand, as a manager, why HE is so bothered about Anu.. I don't know. Something more to it to be explored.
After this point, I felt very disturbed because nothing seemed realistic or plausible, though some can be ignored as creative liberties, not all.
Cancer relapse shows side effects probably in stage 2 or stage 3, but not such that the person dies in one week. So the doctor saying she has few days time, doesn't hold good at all. If she had so less time, she wouldn't be able to walk around normally. They are usually bed ridden, or on a wheel chair, or in any case, NO WAY FIT to travel to Jodhpur, in the heat, after a chemo session. I didn't like this one. He could have said, she has probably two months time. Or very less time.. Which he did. Few days is enumerating in numerically a little too much.
Doctors nowadays cannot say anything without specialists. General physicians do not even opine on such things. Anyways, he may be a friend and helping them. Agreeable.
One thing, I LOVED was Ram's monologue with God. He talked about common sense. I felt it was very creative. A different approach to things. He asked, whether God runs the world with this common sense. WOW!
He cries, and says he has a small family, and they couldn't do with Anu. He very rightly, asked, if you had to take it away, why did you give all of this to me? In life, we feel, we could have done better without something...
But, when it is taken away from us, we feel bereft of everything! Perfect reaction when he knows his wife is dying.
Anu wants him to play the violin. I actually, don't understand why they still haven't shown him playing the violin.
I hope they show it sometime. It would be very superficial if they don't.
Did Anu see him carrying the violin for the trip? Do you expect your husband to carry his violin with him? And if he doesn't, won't you ask THEN, why he didn't have it? Seriously...
Ram tries to resist. Cool enough. HE HAD TO SELL THE VIOLIN FOR THE TRIP? Seriously... I thought they showed a middle class family. A middle class family does NOT have a hand to mouth existence in India. Not anymore. Living standards of people have improved greatly.
Why did he plan a holiday if he had no money? I can't see the logic they showed. For him, her wishes are important. Did he think for once that if he sold the violin, and tomorrow, he didn't get any offers, how he would feed his family? The same wife, and kids, whom he loves, would he see them starve? How would he treat Anu without money?
TV shows gain the sympathy of viewers by showing such emotional and heart rendering sequences of husband selling something dear to him to fulfil his wife's wish. But, behind it, he is actually making things worse for her!
Anyways, that is the logic. Apart from that, it was very cute and romantic of him selling it. I really liked Gurdeep's acting there! She expressed herself as Anu extremely well. She covered every point perfectly. She was burdened. What he did was wrong. His sacrifices were killing her. Brilliant dialogues and equally amazing delivery!
Ram asks the violin for a while. That is fine. Manager denying it was also good. Bribery was funny. I thought he would make Anu understand or something, instead he went and tried to steal it! This is so silly. For his wife, he steals something, didn't he think, he will make her feel a thousand times worse if caught?
Anu calls up reception. They want to leave. Again, she thinks Ram has told them about the violin. Seriously? Why would he do that? She could have asked what violin incident.
I felt that important matters are being trivialized here. Selling it, was a big deal, but after that initial dialogue, it has been made some sort of a comedy fight...
Anyways, I hope, these things improve in the coming episodes.
On a scale of 5, I'd generously give 3, considering all the good points which were excellent, and the bad points which were egregious.
Love

Lovely take again..
Yes, the initial fun scenes and the acting throughout the episode were par excellence..
Thanks a ton, Smily. I am yet to read your take. But, I like your POV on things! 🤗About the violin selling, I too have discussed it in my take.. If they saved for years for buying the violin and if he was already a violinist before they met, it could mean that he has some other low cost violin and the one he sold is something grand which was a dream purchase, or it is also possible that he has access to some other violin at his work place.. About the financial situation, I think he probably had to sell that because he already have the expenditure of cancer treatment and this trip is planned at a short notice. Also this trip is not an ordinary vacation, but a luxurious one.. But yes, something doesn't add up. But this issue brought up Anu's burst out which was an excellent scene in terms of acting and also dialogues..Ahm. Probably. Still, I am not too convinced about not having money for a trip, but having money for treatment. Even a luxury trip like that one is much cheaper than repeated chemo sessions. But, I liked your thought of Ram having another violin. A different take as usual. 👏Though I liked the way Ram trying to first request and then bribe the staff for using antique violin, I felt this scene somewhat killed the intensity of the previous scene (Ram's crying followed by Anu's outburst). I would have liked it better if they shown Ram having a serious self thought with Doctor's prognosis and Anu's request to play violin playing alternatively in his mind and then move ahead with a determined face, that might have shown that he wants to fulfil even the smallest of her wishes as her days are numbered now.Ahm, probably. It killed the intensity, yes. 😳 He trivialised Anu's outburst as something that could be pacified by playing the violin. Not too good. Her anger was serious. She felt she was a burden to everyone, and that feeling won't pass by listening to him play, even if he is magical. Secondly, I think she is more HURT than angry. So, didn't add up. Till, the bribery, it was still natural.Ram tried to think that he could calm her down. They should have shown him thinking that. The prognosis about her death,.. I am not sure about cancer relapse, but I heard instances where the doctors had given one / two time for the first time cancer patients, I too think it doesn't happen so in relapse case because most patient who survived cancer would be under constant vigil and would undergo regular checkups. The one incident of cancer relapse that happened in my immediate family was caught at stage 2. Is it possible here that Any ignored the regular follow ups and even the initial signs? That is I think another blooper in the story. A cancer survivor is, especially blood cancer, cannot be nonchalant about their health even after it is cured. I am not too sure about the intricacies, but, I do know, as you said, no one is going to go to the doc, after two years, and find it relapsing. Why would she ignore it? More like, the makers ignored it.😆I had seen Ram playing violin in one of the promos, that too in the same surroundings..I too didn't like the violin stealing scene, but I could understand why he was doing it, He is not sure whether he will get another chance to play violin for her, it may be too late by the time they return to Mumbai... Wish they have shown his thought process...Oh, really, I never saw such a promo... 😛 Wish, I had.The violin stealing scene was VERY childish, to say the least. He could have rented a violin? Such big hotels, have a set of musical instruments, for bands and orchestras and all, he could have offered to play for an evening? I half expected him to do that. THAT, now, would have been nice and understandable, since he didn't know whether his wife would survive.I think the makers are stuck between a hard and rock place. The story demands them to show serious and tearjerking scenes like Ram's monologue and Anu's outburst or hospital scenes, but they don't want to alienate viewers by showing only serious stuff, so they compromise with some comedy scenes, unfortunately it doesn't work like this. After the latest prognosis from the doctor, there is no room for comedy in the show, at-least for a while..I think ya, that is what is the issue I guess. They want it to be fun filled and not show everyone moping around. I agree and some scenes are good. But some scenes are completely implausible in the setting. If they want to show some comedy, they can show things like, Anu, in bed, watching a WC match, since that is the most in thing now, or watching a show and crying and Ram laughing at her, or the kids studying and not getting things;.I mean, such sublte comedy, would cheer the mood, and break away from the grief and sadness and provide some entertainment also. Not, violin stealing and all.😆I don't mind the humour at all. I like it. When they show, very realistic things, but sometimes they go overboard. And it doesn't suit the setting.
Thanks a lot Smily! Yes, I saw. He plays it in the same scenario. 😳Originally posted by: ever_smily
