TB Article : Smriti Zubin Irani not offered Desh ki Beti Nandini!
Rashmi Sharma's Desh ki Beti Nandini, an upcoming show on Sony is creating quite a buzz in the media. The show which is set against a political background has Keerti Nagpure in the title role of Nandini and has an ensemble cast of Muni Jha, Sujata Segal, Pushkar Goggia amongst others. The promos of the show are already on air and viewers are eagerly waiting for the show to start.
According to some news reports it was said that Kitu Gidwani and Smriti Irani were being approached for the role of Keerti Nagpure's mother-in-law in the show. However, when contacted while Kitu Gidwani was unavailable, Smriti Irani replied instantly.
Smriti Zubin Irani who rose to fame with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi on Star Plus seemed to be miffed that her name was unnecessarily being used for the promotions of the show. "It is unfortunate that a false story has been planted to generate interest by the PR people" said Smriti who was last seen in doing the episodic for Ekta Kapoor's Ek Thhi Naayka. Apart from her latest appearance in Ek Thi Naayka, Smriti has stayed away from the limelight and is seriously concentrating on her political career which keeps her busy and away from Mumbai too. She is constantly traveling to Delhi where she has to spend much of her time and is least interested in pursuing a full time career or even consider a major role in a daily soap.
It is not a new thing for PR machinery to work overtime when it comes to finalizing names while casting for important characters whether it is for films or for television serials. When the actor in question responds to it, it ensures that the show in question stays in news for long.
However, this time they seem to have got it all wrong and gone a bit overboard by using or rather mis-using such a prominent name for their own benefit.
