There are people like Swara Bhasker and Richa Chadha and Anurag Kayshap and a few others who were outspoken from the beginning and you knew where they stood. Then there are people like Deepika and Sonam who were sticking their heads in the sand but finally couldn’t take it anymore and took a stand in recent days and now you know where they stand based on their own words and actions. And then we have people like Varun and Alia who tried not to ruffle any feathers before while pretending to still care. Now that the tide is turning they are trying to appear outspoken and brave when in reality it kind of feels like they are riding Swara or Deepika’s coattails.

Alia did post about it b4 dp

I think Alia isn't indifferent. She is ill-informed and lacks general awareness - which is a shame because her father and mother are so well-informed and are extremely vocal about social issues.

But what some major 30+ actors are doing is something else. They are all aware of what is happening and are still silent.

Alia talked about it way before DP. Also she has no film coming up so she could have easily avoided it.

Alia talked about it the way a lot of other people talked about it. Very tame insta stories which were copies of some quotes. She kept herself under the radar and yet had made a couple of insta stories to be able to claim she’d said something. Forget Swara, she’d never even said anything as concrete as Dia Mirza, and at the time made sure her PR didn’t focus on it either. Now that the tide is turning her name is being included along with Swara and Deepika for being among the women of Bollywood who’s making a difference.
