The choreographer plans to direct his first film on slum children participating in a dance competition
Shiamak Davar, who started choreographing for films with Yash Chopra's Dil To Pagal Hai, is all set to turn director. Shiamak's film would be called, "A Slumdog Millionaire Goes Dancing." Move over Danny Boyle, this time it'll be all desi.
Interestingly, Yash Raj Films would not be producing Shiamak's directorial debut; a banner he has been quite closely associated with. Percept Pictures would produce the film. The plot is apparently about a bunch of slum children being trained to participate in a dance competition.
Says a source, "Shiamak was very sure he wanted to direct a film that revolved around dancing. Since he has made a career out of working with kids he wants to cast a few in his film and dance as the centre of the plot.
If you look at other choreographers turning to direction like Tharun Kumar and Farah Khan, the film has to have some amazing dancing in it."
Shiamak doesn't deny his directorial plans. He admits Percept will produce his film but says, "We're still in talks."
But sources from Percept Pictures confirm that Shiamak is indeed directing a film about dancing with slum kids, early next year. While the dancing kids would be chosen after auditions, Shiamak's good friends and former students like Shahid Kapoor and Ruslaan Mumtaz are sure to make guest appearances in the film.
Enjoy
