I was glued to the TV on both the days when that juvenile was given a 3 year sentence and the rest were given death sentence. What shocked me the most that on all these on-going panel discussions, it were the ladies who were talking from the side of these rapists. Not all, but whoever were presenting the human angle, were all ladies. Especially the one talking about that little innocent 17 year old baby, who just happened to come from poor section of the society, had bad influences on him etc. If he was given a chance, he will turn into a responsible citizen. I want to track that lady down and ask her "why wasn't the girl given her one chance at mercy??? She kept asking them to leave her, did they??? And who the hell are they in the first place to give her a chance..right, they are the predators.
And about all these idiots ( irony is one of them is himself in jail right now for raping a minor) who were giving free opinions on why rapes happen. Do they even know the reality? So many girls working in BPOs are the sole bread winners of their families. Its not that they love being out in the street late at night. I am sure even they must be creeped out, but they still do it..for their families. What does this make them? Heroines right? Not somebody who goes out to get violated..
And about all the political people who were passing unasked for comments...I am really doubtful whether they have, for even for one moment of their lives, really loved their mothers. Seriously...do they care ..I mean really care about thier wives as women. I doubt. These are the people who are the spineless pervert types. They sit at home and fantasize about it.
I have read somewhere on this very forum, why call her Nirbhaya..she got raped...what is so courageous about it. Well the answer is in her lifetime. Her struggle to uplift her own and her family's life . The way she fought for her life in that bus and after that. The way she urged police and co-operated with them to het her rapists punished. I salute her for her spirit. Not for one moment did she feel guilty or responsible for what had happened to her. In this MCP society, she was sure she had done nothing wrong and she wanted justice. She gave it her all till she died.
I wish I had known her in her lifetime. I could have had a very inspiring sister.
