What to expect from Wanderers

Johannesburg's Wanderers has traditionally been a high-scoring venue. In the last T20I here, in December 2023, Suryakumar Yadav slammed a hundred as India scored 201/7. However, South Africa were bowled out for just 95, with Kuldeep Yadav taking five wickets.

India have found heroes in every game. Sanju Samson scored a hundred in the first, Varun Chakravarthy picked a 5-fer in the second and Tilak Varma notched up his maiden T20I ton in the third. It has been a good series for them and one they would like to finish on a winning note. Since they lead the series 2-1 and have no chance of losing, it might be a good opportunity to hand more debuts, probably Yash Dayal coming in for Arshdeep. South Africa haven't been at their best in this format since the World Cup final. They were whitewashed by the West Indies, drew the series against Ireland and trail 1-2 here. The batting has not been consistent while the bowling lacked discipline. Aiden Markram has won all three tosses in the series but have failed to chase scores twice. Will he try to bat first today? Or is it SKY's lucky day and he wins the toss for a change?

Like in the third T20 match, we should work as a team to win this one rather than relying just on a few standout performances.

Pitch Report: We are pretty much in the centre of the square, with one square boundary 62m and the other 66m. 86m hit straight down the ground. Shaun Pollock says it looks really good and that there is a decent grass covering. Thick covering, in fact, and no real cracks to talk about. He expects the ball to carry nicely and for there to be enough pace and bounce. If you can middle a few and get a bit of momentum, you could, as batters, put jitters into the bowlers, reckons Pollock.

Rakesh: "How's the weather right now in Jo'burg? Are we going to have a on time start?" -- Looks fine at the moment, even though it seems a touch cloudy. The players are indulging in their respective warm-up routines, as we speak.

M dsouza: "India need to seriously think about their death bowling. The last game they would have lost if Jansen didn't get out." -- They gambled for batting depth at the expense of a front-line seamer, and that left them a little short of options. It will be interesting to see if they stick to that combination or if they sacrifice a spinner for Avesh Khan or maybe Yash Dayal.
