The 1st Test between India and New Zealand is set to take place from October 16 to 20, 2024 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. This marks the start of a three-match Test series, crucial for both teams as they prepare for upcoming tournaments. India, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, aims to maintain their dominance, while New Zealand, captained by Tom Latham (due to Kane Williamson's injury), looks to secure a strong start. For cricket enthusiasts in 6 Club India, this match promises to be a gripping contest, featuring top players like Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravichandran Ashwin for India, and key figures like Devon Conway and Tim Southee for New Zealand. With Rohit Sharma leading a star-studded Indian team, including Bumrah and Kohli, this is going to be a cricket battle to remember. New Zealand, without Kane Williamson, still brings the firepower with Tim Southee and Devon Conway. "True wisdom comes to each of us when we realize how little we understand about life, ourselves, and the world around."

Good morning folks. Ganesh welcomes us with this great news from the ground - "Good morning. Better news today, covers are off and players trickling to practice on the ground," He adds, "Tim Southee is just marking his run-up as has Will O Rourke. Matt Henry is marking his run-up now. Given the conditions, three pacers could be the way to go."

Pitch report: The outfield is simply superb. Great drainage. No reminiscence at all that it rained. It has been under the covers, which means it has a lot of dampness. It is quite cold when you touch it. When you touch it, it is slightly harder and it is dry underneath. New ball could nip around early on and the spinners could get some help as well - opine Simon Doull and Murali Kartik

Gambhir, Bumrah and Rohit are having a chat beside the pitch. Rohit then has a good look at the pitch before he gets ready for the toss.

So conditions have improved and we are cricket-ready in Bengaluru. Toss at 8.45, start at 9.15. The forecast looks decent till afternoon. As we speak, Siraj has marked his run-up too. Sarfaraz taking a lot of catches at second slip, Gill hasnโ€™t warmed up as yet but is out having chats on the field.

"For India, Bumrah has marked his run up. Sarfaraz has had a lot of throw downs but Gill has come out as well and having a long chat with Nayar."

Tom Latham: Wicket has been under covers so hopefully we can make good use of it early with the ball. Bit of weather around, so we have't had a great prep here. Three seamers with Ajaz Patel and we have two all-rounders who bowl spin too

Rohit Sharma: We are going to have a bat first. It has been under the covers and we do understand that it could be slightly sticky early on but the nature of the pitch is such that you would want to put runs on the board first. You want to get the result as much as we want. We assess where we are decide what needs to be done as a team. We have played well in the last few Test matches. Fresh series for us and we want to start well. From the last Test two changes, Gill misses out, Sarfaraz comes in. Kuldeep comes in for Akash

India have won the toss and have opted to bat

India have won the toss and have opted to bat

It has gone very dark very quickly after the toss.

STAT: New Zealand have not won a Test series in India in their 12 attempts. The last time they won a Test match in India was back in 1988 at Wankhede.
