So yes terrific Improvisation from Ash / Jadoo they pops up when it matter most, ravindra jadeja in Domestic India have 3 Tripple century so No wonder why he hold His spot in top all rounder from ICC log.For India many times jadeja bats at 5 & scored 50's

🏏 Bangladesh tour of India 2024: 1st Test - BD vs IND - Day 2 🏏

Ashwin's expertise drives India past Chennai's opening-day hurdles

Ashwin showed India the way with his sixth Test century

Driving school was in session on a tricky opening day of Test cricket in Chennai, where low-slung grey clouds added to the jeopardy of the soft and damp playing surface. Virat Kohli was caught out when he drove overzealously and away from the body too soon. Yashasvi Jaiswal earned his license by opting to do his driving in a narrow 'v', picking only the full-length deliveries or by making his own lengths by walking towards the ball. Then there was Ravichandran Ashwin, who drove India out of the mire as coolly as he might outside the confines of the MA Chidambaram Stadium in non-peak hours - weaving past potholes and metro-work blockades, air-conditioning on with 'Vaathi Coming' playing to thumping volume.

It needed a local to show India the way out of the trouble they'd found themselves through the middle session and Ashwin did just that with his sixth Test century and the second at his home ground. His knock and his unbeaten 195* partnership with Ravindra Jadeja reinforced some old truths at the start of the season: that India's lower-order might remains a cheat code in these conditions.

Welcome to day two. A Chennai boy and a Chennai Super King in the middle. They will also bowl later in the day. No reason to stay away from Chepauk if you are in Chennai and have the time to watch the cricket. It's 31 degrees already, and likely to rise as high as 34 later in the day. Not sure I want to field a lot today. Or bat under all that armour.

Day one was eventful. Both teams wanted to bowl first and went with the '3 seamers + 2 spinners' combination. Shanto got it right at the toss and his team got off to a great start with Hasan Mahmud nipping out three right-handed Indian batters in the first hour of the match. Jaiswal batted with a lot of grit and was involved in a couple of partnerships but Bangladesh's tight bowling resulted in them reducing the hosts to 144/6. India were in a precarious position and for the umpteenth time, Ashwin and Jadeja not only got them out of trouble but also put their team in a good position. Batting wasn't easy against the new ball and the visitors would want to replicate a similar performance with the second new ball. Will the Ashwin-Jadeja duo continue to bat positively? Will batting get easier today? Let's find out. Action coming your way in less than 30 minutes..

Plenty of instructions for the new batter from Ashwinsmiley4

82.1

Taskin Ahmed to Jadeja, out Caught by Litton Das!! Edged and gone! The 199-run stand has been broken. 136.7kph, away-angling short of a good length ball, Jadeja has a poke at it sans any feet movement. Healthy outside edge and it's an easy grab for the keeper. No hundred for Jadeja and Taskin has a big smile on his face. Jadeja c Litton Das b Taskin Ahmed 86(124) [4s-10 6s-2]

Taskin Ahmed to Jadeja, THATS OUT!! Caught!!

Hasan Mahmud to Akash Deep, FOUR, 131kph, full ball on the pads and Akash Deep flicks it away through backward square leg and gets off the mark with a boundary.

Akash already scored 2 fours! Good going, boy. smiley32
