Dunno if gg but ajit whatever his name is said they consider Gill the all format player and see him as the future hence wanna promote him heavily by giving him VC. but tbh its real nonsense to replace hardik and bumrah with the likes of gill for VC as long as rohit atleast in Test is still the captain. If he steps down they might as well make gill VC and promote bumrah or whoever senior they find good test captain 
They should rather groom him in his game for now and groom him as a upcoming player rather than handing him VC now. Dunno why GG and selectors are obsessed with him. TBH apart from IPL I havnt seen his strong performance that much on India level
