09:35 Local Time, 14:35 GMT, 20:05 IST: Netherlands and Nepal begin their 2024 T20 World Cup campaign with different perspectives - Netherlands had a very good tournament back in 2022, ousting South Africa and also ensuring that they had a direct qualification to this year's tournament. For Nepal, it's all about enjoying the moment, this is their first World Cup appearance since 2014 and they'll be under illusions or pressure. Nepal qualified for the tournament by reaching the finals of the Asia qualifiers. They do have some quality and none better than Deependra Airee, who became the poster boy of Nepalese cricket after his six sixes in an over against Qatar. But they'll be without star leg-spinner, Sandeep Lamichanne - he was acquitted of all charges, but wasn't provided with the American visa, rendering him unavailable for the tournament. On the other hand, Netherlands will go into the match as favourites, a tag which puts them under some sort of pressure right away. They'll also consider this game as a must win considering that they've got to face South Africa, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh as well.

For starters, it is looking a little bleak in Dallas right now. The main cover is in place and the floodlights are on. Don't think it is raining as I type but it does look dark. The two teams have arrived and are warming up in the middle. Having said that, the forecast is for it to clear up so fingers crossed, the weather clears up in a bit.

Hello and welcome to match no. 7 of the T20 World Cup 2024 where Netherlands are all set to take on Nepal in both teams' opening fixture of the tournament. I am Ashish Pant and I will soon be joined by Andrew Fidel Fernando as we bring to you all the updates from the venue. For starters, it is looking a little bleak in Dallas right now. The main cover is in place and the floodlights are on. Don't think it is raining as I type but it does look dark. The two teams have arrived and are warming up in the middle. Right on, so what's in store today? There are a lot of Nepal fans already at the venue and plenty lining up to enter the ground. They are making plenty of noise. Nepal have a lot of support wherever they go, and today looks no different. Netherlands vs Nepal. It is the one game neither team can afford to lose, write Karthik Krishnaswamy in his preview. Netherlands have a 6-5 T20I record against Nepal overall, and their six meetings in the pandemic and post-pandemic eras have been dead even. They met three times earlier this year, in a triangular tournament in Kirtipur, and won once apiece in the league stage before Netherlands won a closely fought final. So, expect a closely fought game.
