I want Thailand to qualify😳

There's the inevitable. Rain hasn't stopped and this game has been abandoned. So, Thailand progress to the semifinal while the defending champions - Bangladesh - are out of the competition. The four SF spots have been sealed. There's one more game lined up - Pakistan vs Sri Lanka - which is the final round-robin fixture of the tournament. It's a dead rubber as both teams have already progressed to next round. Let's hope that rain doesn't play spoilsport again

Hello from Sylhet, and if you were a Bangladesh fan tuning in, the news isn't good from over here. The Bangladesh v UAE game hasn't yet started due to rain and if it continues this way, then Bangladesh will definitely be eliminated. They need a win and nothing else to climb to fourth, and as the points table would stand with a washout, Thailand would become the fourth team to confirm their semi spot, alongside India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

And it is official. Defending champions Bangladesh are eliminated from the Asia Cup because the umpires have called off their game against UAE without a toss. The washed out match, however, has secured a semi-final spot for Thailand. How the top four line up, though, depends on the result of the Pakistan v Sri Lanka game in the afternoon.

Phoenix: "As a Bangladeshi supporter, that would make me very sad indeed but best wishes to Thailand for the semi finals. Looks like both the male and female teams of Bangladesh require jump-starting if possible somehow."

I like this girls Asia Cup. We know who reached Semi Finals, but we still don't know who is playing with whom in the Semi finals. That is really a good outcome.👍🏼

Most probably it will be India vs Thailand and repeat match between Pakistan and SriLanka. Let's see how it unfolds.

Cheers..

13:03 Local Time, 07:03 GMT, 12:33 IST: "Toss between Sri Lanka and Pakistan expected at 1.30 PM local time," is the latest tweet from Female Cricket.

12:50 Local Time, 06:50 GMT, 12:20 IST: The four semifinalists are India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Thailand. Rain played spoilsport to dash Bangladesh's hopes earlier in the day. Female Cricket (@imfemalecricket) tweeted this half an hour ago - "Good News is that the rain has stopped. Groundsmen are busy at work. We should see a game here provided the rain stays away." On that note, hello everyone and a warm welcome to final round-robin encounter of the Women's Asia Cup. Pakistan and Sri Lanka are only separated by NRR. Today's winner is unlikely to overtake India on the ladder as the table-toppers' NRR is 3.141. So, today's encounter could be a dress rehearsal of the semifinal. Let's hope the rain stays away. Stay tuned, we'll keep you updated...

The pitch looks pretty dry. The pitch has been under covers for a long time, there'll be moisture. Batting will be tough early on. This is going to be a bowling-friendly surface.

Sri Lanka Women have won the toss and have opted to bat

It was mentioned earlier that this is a bowler friendly surface. Why did SL chose to bat?🤔

Cheers..

Bismah Maroof: We would have bowled first as we haven't bowled first in this Asia Cup. We have had a very good tournament, especially the bowlers. (To restrict them) Under 100 would be good. We've got only one change.

Chamari Athapaththu: We are going to bat first. We want to score some runs as we've struggled in the last few games. We have to adjust to the conditions and stick to to our plans. We have to try our best. 120-125 is going to be a good score on this surface. Same team.
