PakistanW vs MalaysiaW : Asia Cup Match 3
Pakistan Women will take on Malaysia Women at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium Ground 2. Match 3 in the Round-robin stage of the 2022 Women’s Asia Cup gets underway on Sunday 2nd October at 09:00 local time.
Bismah Maroof’s team will be looking to improve on their third place finish from the 2018 tournament where they just missed out on a place in the final. They beat Thailand Women, Sri Lanka Women and Malaysia Women but came up short against India Women and Bangladesh Women.
Although Pakistan Women lost all three of their games during the 2022 Commonwealth Games at Edgbaston earlier this summer, there was always one of their batters who made a useful contribution. Nida Dar hit an unbeaten half-century in their narrow defeat to Barbados Women.
There are very high hopes for 21 year old leg-spinner Tuba Hassan who took 3-8 on her international debut against Sri Lanka Women earlier this year. Medium fast bowler, Fatima Sana, who impressed during the Commonwealth Games, is out of the tournament with a broken ankle.
Pakistan Women did not pick up a win during the trip to England but did beat Ireland in the tri-nation series before the Commonwealth Games.
After hosting the tournament in 2018, it will be interesting to see how Malaysia Women get on in Bangladesh during this competition. They lost all five fixtures in 2018 including a 147 run defeat to Pakistan Women and they will be looking to give a better account in this match.
Captain Winifred Duraisingam hit Malaysia Women’s highest score during the 2018 campaign and the opening batter, who also opens the bowling, will be expected to provide the bulk of the runs for her side. Runs will also be hoped for from Keeper-batter Wan Julia.
Medium fast bowler Sasha Azmi returned the best bowling figures for Malaysia Women in two of their defeats during the 2018 Asia Cup. She picked up 1-12 against Sri Lanka Women and 1-8 from three overs against Pakistan Women. Azmi and Duraisingam will be the main bowling threats.
Malaysia Women have won five of their last six games including three successive wins over Singapore Women. However, Pakistan Women are a much more experienced and talented side.
The match will be played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium Ground 2. The first game in the tournament on this pitch saw a lot of turn for the spin bowlers. We expect a par score of over 140.
Pakistan Women were way too strong for Malaysia Women when they faced off in the Asia Cup in 2018 and we expect a similar result in Sylhet in this match. Although Malaysia Women have won recent games, expecting that Pakistan Women to get the victory.
Bismah Maroof (C), Muneeba Ali (WK), Tuba Hassan, Aliya Riaz, Iram Javed, Ayesha Naseem, Fatima Sana, Nida Dar, Omaima Sohail, Anam Amin, Diana Baig.
Winifred Duraisingam (C), Wan Julia (WK), Jamahidaya Intan, Ainna Hashim, Elsa Hunter, Nur Arianna Natsya, Nik Nur Atiela, Aisya Eleesa, Nur Dania Syuhada, Mas Elysa, Sasha Azmi.

Sri Lanka W vs UAE W : Asia Cup Match 4
SL Women chose to bat
We’ve had three one-sided games to start off the 2022 Women’s Asia Cup. Unlikely to set that trend being bucked now with Sri Lanka starting as overwhelming favourites against UAE. Chamari Athapaththu’s side suffered a big defeat against India last afternoon, but they would come out all guns blazing today to get up and running on the points table. It’s a fairly warm afternoon, but there’s a possibility of rain later on. Let’s hope the showers stay away and we can get a full, uninterrupted game of cricket. Back shortly with toss and team updates.
