WHAT-A-GAME! Dar is down on her knees in utter disappointment. Maroof in the dugout looks devastated as well. They'll both wonder how they let this slip. It was going as per plans, was the perfect chase for a large part of the innings with Muneeba giving the early momentum thanks to some poor new-ball bowling. That flurry meant that Dar and Maroof could nurdle it around, and the senior pro managed the chase very well until the 18th over when the Pakistan skipper had a rush of blood. It was still run-a-ball or thereabouts but Sri Lanka hung in, and once they picked up Naseem cheaply, Pakistan just lost their nerves. Even a seasoned campaigner like Dar couldn't get the big blows away even though there were some boundary opportunities. Even that last ball was a full toss but she couldn't middle it. Credit to Sri Lanka though. They were on the back foot right through this chase but never backed down and hung in there, knowing fully well how bizarre knockout games can be. So, it's India vs Sri Lanka in the 2022 Asia Cup final.

Quite a one-sided contest and it's not come as a surprise. Thailand's batting was always going to have too much do. On pitches where 130-140 has been the par score, India's 148 was well above-par even for experienced batting line-ups, let alone Thailand's rookies who had no chance in the run chase barring a miracle. And that miracle never came. Once they lost early wickets, their only intention was to bat out the 20 overs and to be fair to them, that is also an achievement given the quality of the opposition. This match was long done before it actually got over and it was just about how much Thailand will score off their 20 overs. India's spinners were on the money, with Deepti being the pick of the lot. There was enough turn on offer and the Thailand batters were simply not equipped to deal with it.

Harmanpreet Kaur | India captain: We batted really well, Thailand bowled quite well, not giving us easy runs. We really had to work hard. That partnership (between her and Jemimah) helped us to get a score on the board. When you're not playing a lot, you need runs to get confidence. She (Deepti) is someone who is willing to bowl at any stage. Having such a bowler always gives confidence. When you're getting around 150 on the board more often than not, it gives confidence. Whoever makes it to the final, we'll make plans.

Naruemol Chaiwai | Thailand captain: It's a good experience for us. We have a talented side, and we'll go upwards as we play more. We have to show more intent and enjoy ourselves a bit more. If we can do that, we'll be happy.

Shafali Verma | Player of the Match: Lots of confidence (with the win). Wicket was good to bat, felt good. Smriti and Jemi also did well. We need to look at getting partnerships (regularly). Hope the weather stays good (for the final). I'm more confident about my game now, but will keep working. Always happy to contribute to the team.

Chamari Athapaththu | Sri Lanka captain: Lots of pressure but we stuck by the bowlers. I always thought that my bowlers could do a good job. We changed the batting order to change a few things. After 14 years, we are in the Asia Cup final, that's good for us. First six overs they batted well, openers did well but we stuck to our plans. We knew that after six overs, it isn't easy to hit boundaries, so just stuck to our plans. Kavisha is a fighter, she handles pressure well. Dropped the catch but got the run out which was important.
