I too hope she comes back, provided the current creative team does not mess up her character. As for leaving abruptly, she wasn't the only one: Dhananjay Mandrekar and Narendra Gupta also vanished one fine day without notice. It happens. Most of the female officers also left abruptly (Aditi was a notable exception and Muskaan was a semi-exception in that the issue of her transfer came up during her last episode but then the focus shifted entirely to the case and the topic was never brought up again). Sometimes things simply don't work out behind the scenes. Also, a lot of the actors don't just work in the tv industry or at least not just on Hindi shows. As
Prabha said, Ashwini could have been working in theater, films, etc.
Also, Asha and Niyati did not share any scenes in the two 2003 cases in which Niyati appeared. In
Case of the Nailing Suspect, Asha was shown in the beginning of the case and then inexplicably disappeared during the rest of the case. I am guessing Ashwini wasn't available to shoot for the second part. A shame since it would have been nice to see the two of them interact.
Anyway, let's hope we get to see her on CID again. I wish my two favourite women on the show, Asha and Niyati, would return some day. I miss them.
