Indian currently living in India π
Have been out of India for many years, so my access to Indian channels was always limited. I used to watch DMG regularly, and started watching the last few minutes of MJHT because it came just before DMG. I didn't like Sanaya at first look ... then I caught the promos of the Valentines Day episodes, and she caught my eye ... her character had grown beautifully. I watched MJHT, a college show, which I was way past the age for π only for Sanaya and Gunjan, and I loved the SaJan love story. During MJHT itself, I saw Sanaya was capable of much bigger and better things, and so I was very happy when IPK was announced with her as the solo female lead.
I was very dubious whether she could pull off such a bubbly character, as her role as Gunjan was the complete opposite, and that was all I had seen Sanaya do. I was absolutely blown at how well she did Khushi ... Gunjan was not at all like Sanaya's real personality, and she played her beautifully ... Khushi on the other hand, was more like Sanaya, yet all through the entire show, there was a very clear delineation between Sanaya and Khushi ... one never felt one was watching Sanaya, despite the fact that the personalities were similar. She is such a fabulous actress.
Again Chhanchhan was similar to Sanaya's real personality, but she managed to keep Chhanchhan separate for the most part, and kept Chhanchhan different from Khushi as well.
I started admiring Sanaya the actress from MJHT days, and my impression of her acting abilities grew thousandfold during IPKKND. But during IPKKND, I became equally a fan of Sanaya the person ... and now I am an unabashed Sanayaholic. There are very few actors whose movies/shows I would watch just because they are in them ... Kajol and SRK are movie actors who fit that criterion, Sanaya is the only TV actress for whom I would sit through pretty much anything ... and have done so π
