Chhanchhan Against Dowry

Faith and courage drives us to test those lethal boundaries to protect our innocence and purity. One such faith is the support from our own family. Everyday we struggle to find confidence or even define the wrong vs the right. How often is it, that we find wonderful family members who support us with unlimited amounts of affection and pride. With the launch of Sony Television's Chhanchhan, viewers witnessed the family pridefully support their daughter Chhanchhan (Sanaya Irani), who had embarked on a journey to stand up against dowry.
Chhanchhan, which is a new drama that has begun highlighting the liveliness, pride and difficulties of a modern girl who wishes to change society's norms. Within the past two weeks, the serial has gained momentum with the prominent characters of Umaben (Supriya Pathak) and Chhanchhan becoming rivals within this 'modern' saas-bahu drama. The character of Chhanchhan has been depicted as a thinker, activist and cool girl who is full of life.
Last week, viewers witnessed intense drama with Purvi's (Deeya Chopra) wedding being called off, resulting in Chhanchhan being at the receiving end of Umaben's wrath. Umaben's ardent efforts to create havoc within Chhanchhan's life continues. She relieves Purvi's father from work and praises her bahus' for being obedient as her fury against Chhanchhan ignites within herself. This past week, we were introduced to Umaben's husband and children along with her three bahus. We also get a glimpse into a piece of the past, where the situation has somewhat bit clear. The family's savior Umaben, had brought the family to fame again after reaching the hardship on the roads, due to some reason.
However in all the amidst, Chhanchhan's encounter with Manav (Farhan Khan), who happens to be Umaben's son cannot be left behind. After the chaos surrounding Manav's disastrous doggy bite, Chhanchhan pours her heart felt apologizes with a tasty chocolate cake. Chhanchhan's worries and caring nature overshadows Manav's behavior during their first meet. Her plans to amend things goes in vain as Manav and his friend plot a silly revenge against the beautiful and intelligent Chhanchhan. As Chhanchhan hands over the cake, Manav releases an angry dog against her, however within minutes Chhanchhan has the cute doggy bold over with her love.
Filled with hurt and regret for baking the cake, Chhanchhan leaves disheartened still unaware of the fact that Manav is Umaben's son. After all the turn of events, Chhanchhan decides to apologize in front of Umaben. Just like a coin having two sides, Chhanchhan's strong belief of Umaben having a positive shade happens to shatter in front of her when goes to apologize. Umaben's arrogant and influential techniques to pressurize Chhanchhan's belief bewilders her. Although furious, Chhanchhan tries to persuade Umaben, but in vain! Umaben instead tells Chhanchhan that she should apologize to her in front of the society through a newspaper column, taking on the responsibility of Purvi's marriage being called off. In turn Chhanchhan releases a press article creating awareness against dowry.
Despite the balanced episodes, the show has yet to grow and create the magical chemistry between the leads to allure the viewers. The serial perhaps can provide more comical relief to the serial depicting a modern bahu. However Sanaya Irani, portrays her role perfectly well.
